  • This Thesis is the study on the corresponding relations between Kierkegaard's existential stages and the forms of despair. the subjects of Kierkegaard's philosophical psychology are despair and anxiety. He studies the forms of despair in Sickness Unto Death, and anxiety in The Concept of Anxiety. He seeks to elucidate the human existence by way of the psychological inquiry on despair and anxiety. I will primarily study Kierkegaard's concept of despair in order to make out his understanding of human existence and, then, inquire into his concept of anxiety supplementarily. Until now, many studies on Kierkegaard's concept of despair have been carried out mainly focusing on his Sickness Unto Death. Of course, those studies focusing on his Sickness Unto Death are meaningful in a sense, but have a limit of abstract understanding, since Kierkegaard argues many forms of despair abstractly through the ontological form of the self which is constituted by the opposing constituents such as necessity and possibility. In order to understand his abstract explanation about despair, I think, we have to compare various modes of existence and the forms of despair which are portrayed in Either/Or and Fear and Trembling. Therefore, I will enquire into his seemingly unrelated works synthetically and elucidate his understanding on the relation of the forms of despair and the stages of existence.

  • In this study, the following topics were investigated targeting elementary school students: Schema formed through precise notion of cognitive and the connection of the concepts when studying common divisor, common multiple, and the lowest common multiple, configuration ability and problem solving of the students when learning using a modified schema, how the schema of the student to advance to a higher level, and how the deformation of the schema is carried out student's configuration of concept and problem solving ability. As a result, it was found out that cognition about precise concept, schema and the modified schema are important factors when a primary concept was developed into a secondary concept, and play important roles when the connection and the formation of the modified schema created by cognition about the precise primary concept rather than by the formation of the secondary concept (formation of the secondary schema) created by the connection between the primary concept.

  • There are currently many research papers on the knowledge, perceptions and actions of radiation-related staff, but hardly any papers on radiation major students in college who are to be staff members of radiation related jobs in the future. It is of course important to understand the perceptions of staff working on the lines and change their knowledge and perceptions, but in the long term it seems more efficient to understand those who are in the stage of being educated to be staff members-their knowledge and perception of radiation so that ultimately they can attain the right kind of understanding. Therefore the aim of this study is to grasp the pre-radiation staff's basic concept of radiation and space dose, their understanding of radiation safety based on this, and whether there is a change in their perception before and after the space dose measurement experiment; in the end this is to see if the space dose measurement experiment is effective in changing perception on radiation safety. This study took as its subject 64 students majoring radiation in college, I.e. pre-radiation staff members, and gauged their basic conceptualization of radiation, understanding of space dose, and understanding of radiation safety; in the X-ray room within the department the students were asked to measure space dose for themselves, so as to see whether there was a change in their understanding of radiation safety before and after the experiment, according to their understanding of the basic concept of radiation and of space dose. As a result of the space dose measurement experiment, students' increased basic knowledge of concept of radiation and understanding of the dangers of space dose were noteworthy, and accordingly their understanding of radiation safety became stricter and more conservative. In spite of this, their work ethic stayed in the lead of their understanding of radiation safety; this implies the need of a more departmentalized safety education program. Therefore instead of safety education that simply uses visual-audial material in a kind of lecture, I suggest here that there be a more experiential safety education program that enables learners to try out space dose measurement experiments for themselves, a work ethic education that aims for a conventional point of view towards radiation safety as well as a stern attitude.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of problem-solving inquiry teaching using concept sketches on conceptual changes about plate tectonics and science-related attitudes. The subjects of this study were two classes of second-year students of K high school located at Anseong in Gyeonggi Province. Before instruction, a conceptual test was conducted to survey student's preconceptions about plate tectonics. The control group took a traditional lesson, while the experimental group was applied to problem-solving inquiry teaching using concept sketches. After the inquiry instruction, TOSRA (Test of Science-Related Attitudes) was administered to find out changes in science-related attitudes of the two groups. The results of this study are as follows. The experimental group understood concepts of plate tectonics better than the control group, which means that problem-solving inquiry teaching using concept sketches was more effective in students' conceptual understanding. Science-related attitudes of the experimental group showed a significant change in the categories of 'normality of scientists', 'pleasure of science lessons', and 'interests on science as a hobby'. In conclusion, the instruction of problem-solving inquiry using concept sketches produced students' positive changes in conceptual understanding about plate tectonics and science-related attitudes.

  • Taylor series has a complicated structure comprising of various concepts in college major mathematics. This subject is a strong tool which has usefulness and applications not only in calculus, analysis, and complex analysis but also in physics, engineering etc., and other study. However, students have difficulties in understanding mathematical structure of Taylor series convergence correctly. In this study, after classifying students' mathematical characteristic into three categories, we use structural image of Taylor series convergence which associated with mathematical structure and operation acted on that structure. Thus, we try to analyze the understanding of Taylor series convergence and present the results of this study.

  • In this study, the researcher tried to find out the effect of using a computer interface in teaching speed concept in the elementary school. The 4th and 5th pupils were sampled for this study. The school is located in a sub-urban agricultural area in Korea. In the study, the subjects were divided into two groups: experimental and comparison group. From the pretest, two groups did not show any difference in the understanding of speed concept. The computer interface and the programs to operate the interface and data analysis were developed by researcher. The interface is a modular type and designed ready to connect to microcomputer. The test items were consisted of (1) comparison of speed, (2) change of motion, (3) acceleration, and (4) deceleration. As the result, the researcher found the following results: 1. In case of speed comparison, no significant difference was found between experimental and comparison group. 2. In case of change of motion, acceleration, and deceleration, the experimental groups showed higher achievement both in 4th grade and 5th grade. However, the 4th graders showed more learning than the 5th graders. In conclusion, this study showed that the use of computer interface seemed to be very effective in teaching and learning speed concept in elementary school.

  • It is important to understand the trajectory of structure in launching process because of the short time of launching process may result in unexpected accidents or damage to structures. The high risk of structural failure is not avoidable without the fully comprehension of changing forces in launching procedure. The commercial software can evaluate the motion of launching event in calm water condition but there is the limitation of research application because of the programmed commercial software. The launching process of the spar hull is suggested with stage concept that is divided into 10 stages in time domain. A force equilibrium diagram is derived for each stage where the changes of force vector and motion characteristics take place. In particular, the effects of changes in buoyancy and drag force due to the progressive submergence of the spar hull are taken into account by means of a touch length concept. The results contained in this paper provide the valuable information of the trajectory motion evaluation with suggested methods in spar launching process with sliding barge. Furthermore, the presented stage concept and touch length concept will provide basic knowledge for understanding launching process and help to develop further research area for launching analysis.

  • Treatment of schizophrenia is one of the most challenging areas in the field of psychiatry. There has been much improvement in psycho-pharmacotherapy, and at present, psycho-pharmacotherapy along with milieu therapy and social rehabilitation is the standard first-line treatment for schizophrenia. Healing environment, a concept which has arisen from the architectural field, has similarities in meaning to milieu therapy in psychiatry. In other words, healing environment may be an encountering point between psychiatry and architecture. In this encountering, each field can understand each other and expand its concept to aid the treatment of schizophrenia and to plan the build-up of the entire environment considering its social and psychological effects. In this paper, we aim to establish the basic concept of healing environment to alleviate the psychopathologies in schizophrenic patients. We worked under the premise that physical setting affects human behavior and mind, and that physical setting should play a role as a medium with therapeutic potential for patients with medical problems. The aims of this paper are as follows. First, theoretical discussion of the concept and the constructs of healing environment : second, understanding of the schizophrenic symptoms that may be affected by supporting environment : and third, discussion of supporting environment that may alleviate the symptoms of schizophrenia.
