A Formal Presentation of the Extensional Object Model (외연적 객체모델의 정형화)

  • We present an overview of the Extensional Object Model (ExOM) and describe in detail the learning and classification components which integrate concepts from machine learning and object-oriented databases. The ExOM emphasizes flexibility in information acquisition, learning, and classification which are useful to support tasks such as diagnosis, planning, design, and database mining. As a vehicle to integrate machine learning and databases, the ExOM supports a broad range of learning and classification methods and integrates the learning and classification components with traditional database functions. To ensure the integrity of ExOM databases, a subsumption testing rule is developed that encompasses categories defined by type expressions as well as concept definitions generated by machine learning algorithms. A prototype of the learning and classification components of the ExOM is implemented in Smalltalk/V Windows.

Cross-section classification of elliptical hollow sections

  • Tubular construction is widely used in a range of civil and structural engineering applications. To date, the principal product range has comprised square, rectangular and circular hollow sections. However, hot-rolled structural steel elliptical hollow sections have been recently introduced and offer further choice to engineers and architects. Currently though, a lack of fundamental structural performance data and verified structural design guidance is inhibiting uptake. Of fundamental importance to structural metallic design is the concept of cross-section classification. This paper proposes slenderness parameters and a system of cross-section classification limits for elliptical hollow sections, developed on the basis of laboratory tests and numerical simulations. Four classes of cross-sections, namely Class 1 to 4 have been defined with limiting slenderness values. For the special case of elliptical hollow sections with an aspect ratio of unity, consistency with the slenderness limits for circular hollow sections in Eurocode 3 has been achieved. The proposed system of cross-section classification underpins the development of further design guidance for elliptical hollow sections.

  • Even though the concept "Adaptive" was introduced in the late 50's, the main contribution to adaptive and/or self-tuning control has been made since late 70's. This paper describes the feature of adaptive control simulation package KERICON(I) developed in KERI. Informations on hardware environments, install and testing of a new algorithm and user interfacings are also summarized. The package is written in C language and currently being updated for expert-type adaptive control package (KERICON II).RICON II).

  • Pipe cooling method is widely used for reduction of hydration heat and control of cracking in mass concrete structures. However, in order to effectively apply pipe cooling systems to concrete structure, the coefficient of flow convection relating the thermal transfer between inner stream of pipe and concrete must be estimated. In this study, a device measuring the coefficient of flow convection is developed. Since a variation of thermal distribution caused by pipe cooling has a direct effect in internal forced flows, the developed testing device is based on the internal forced flow concept. Influencing factors on the coefficient of flow convection are mainly flow velocity, pipe diameter and thickness, and pipe material. finally a prediction model of the coefficient of flow convection is proposed using experimental results from the developed device. According to the proposed prediction model, the coefficient of flow convection increases with increase in flow velocity and decreases with increase in pipe diameter and thickness. Also, the coefficient of flow convection is largely affected by the type of pipe materials.

  • This paper proposes a new concept of IDSP(Intelligent Digital Switchgear Panel) which can solve the problem of the safety, the reliability and the convenience to correspond to the requirement of the general electric customer or electric power company under the ubiquitous-based home automation environments. By analyzing their requirement functions, a 32-bit micro processor is adopted as main controller to support the designed functions efficiently. The DSP-based single phase power management device is utilized to collect the electric power information and the ethernet convertor to communicate through internet among the IDSPs and the remote computer system. In the proposed IDSP, the several functions are implemented such as the earth leakage level display and waveform transmission, the electric fee display, the voltage management, the load management and the load control function. Finally, the prototype of the IDSP is made experimently based on the designed results, and then the effectiveness is verified by testing its basic functions.

  • To keep the online medical records available to anyone without constraint of time and space, introducing EMR (Electronic medical record), which is a clinical support management system. The purpose of this study is to develop interface standard of clinical test device. Integration and sharing of medical information is faced with enormous obstacles because medical organizations and associated companies are separately developing the interface. I hope that multi-function management system with workstation concept is operated to efficiently transmit clinical device result data based on this study. Transfer of precise medical result data available for decision making will improve quality of health care service.

  • Pseudo-random load waves for fatigue testing were generated by personal computer simulation and preliminary study was performed on the growth behavior of surface fatigue crack under random ladings. The closure behavior and growth rates of surface fatigue crack were significantly influenced by the characteristics of random waves. It was also found that the growth rates of surface fatigue crack under random loadings could not be always described by the effective stress intensity factor based on the concept of crack closure.

  • 화이트 박스 테스팅을 위하여 주로 사용하는 경로 테스팅 방법은 테스트 대상 프로그램의 규모에 크게 영향을 받는다. 이런 단점을 해소하기 위하여 이 논문에서는 슬라이싱과 청킹 개념을 도입하였다. 청킹은 논리 흐름의 덩어리를 프레임화 하여 필요에 따라 펼치거나 추상화할 수 있게 한다. 또한 슬라이싱은 프로그램 동작의 부분 집합을 추출하여 복잡도를 줄이고 특정 변수에 집중하게 한다. 본 논문에서는 이런 두 가지 개념을 도입하여 확장 가능한 경로 테스팅 방법을 제안하여 화이트 박스 테스팅의 실용성을 높일 수 있음을 보였다.

  • In this paper, a new test criterion for binary decision problems is proposed. The integrated power flunction over a parameter interval is first itroduced as an extension of the power function. The concept of the most integrated powerful (MIP) test based on the integrated power function is then introduced. The MIP criterion is to masimize the value of the integrated power function in any paricular parameter interval. As an applicationof the MIP test, the known signal detection problem is considered. The test statistic of the MIP detector for known signals is obtained and an approximation to the MIP test statistic is also considered.

  • Two degrees of freedom resonant systems are employed to improve the resonant property of resonant sensor, as compared to a single degree of freedom resonant system. This paper presents design, development and testing of two degrees of freedom resonant sensor. To measure absolute mass, cantilever shaped two different masses (smaller/absorber mass and bigger/drive mass) with identical resonant frequency are mechanically linked to form 2 - Degree-of-Freedom (DOF) resonator which exhibits higher amplitude of displacement at the smaller mass. The same concept is extended for measuring differential quantity, by having two bigger mass and one smaller mass. The main features of this work are the 3 - DOF resonator for differential detection and the microcontroller based closed loop electronics for resonant sensor with piezoelectric sensing and excitation. The advantage of using microcontroller is that the method can be easily extended for any range of measurand.
