배관 내 밸브 주위의 아이스슬러리의 유동현상 및 압력강하특성에 관한 연구 (An experimental study on ice slurry fluid and pressure drop characteristics in along a horizontal circular tube around the valve)

  • This study experimented to understand the effect of transporting ice slurry through in pipe with valve. And at this experiment it used ethylene glycol-water solution and a concentration is 30wt%. The experimental apparatus was constructed of ice slurry generation tank, turbo flow meter, manometers for differential pressure measuring, PIV system for flow pattern measuring. illumination and along a horizontal circular tube with valve as test section. The experiments were carried out under various conditions, with velocity of fluid at the entry ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 m/s and concentration of IPF is 30%. Also valve open rate is 50%, 75%, 100%.

  • A mathematical model describing gear pump flow degradation in the presense of abrasive particles is presented. The model considers the operating parameters as Sommerfeld number, so that contamination sensitivity test results could be conversed to field application to predict contamination service life. A method to estimate the volumetric efficiency and the contamination level of a pump is proposed by measuring the temperature differences in the fluid. Test results show the validity of the theoretical establishments.

룸코너 시험기의 발열량 측정에 대한 불확도 산정 (Calculation of Uncertainty in Measuring Heat Release Rate in Room Corner Test)

  • 화재시험에 있어서 정확한 발열량의 측정은 시험체의 화재 안정성을 결정하기 위한 중요한 정보이다. 발열량 측정값은 측정 인자들의 오차에 기인하여 영향을 받는다. 본 연구에서는 한국철도기술연구원에 설치된 룸코너 시험기에 대한 불확도의 인자를 분석하였고 이를 이용하여 KTX 내장재 화재시험의 발열량 측정 불확도를 계산하였다. 화재 발열량 불확도 계산 결과, 화재시작단계에서 불확도가 매우 높은 값으로 나타났고 화재가 성장하면서 불확도는 점차적으로 감소하였다. 불확도 인자들 중 산소 농도가 발열량 측정 불확도에 가장 크게 기여하는 것으로 나타냈다.

  • Naturally-ocurring short-lived decay products of radon gas in indoor air are the dominant source of ionizing radiation exposure to the general public. It is written in BEIR VI Report(l999l the radon progeny were identified as the second cause of lung cancer next to cigarette or 10 % to 14 %(15,400 to 21,800 persons p.a.) of all lung cancer deaths in USA. Indoor radon concentrations in houses typically result from radon gaining access to houses mainly from the underlying soil. In the States, they have "Indoor Radon Abatement Act" which was converted from "Toxic Substance Control Act" in 1988 to establish the national long-term goal that indoor air should be as free of radon as the ambient air outside of buildings. To review and study techniques for controlling radon, two test cells were constructed for a series of tests and are under measuring indoor and soil gas (underneath of floor slab)radon concentrations according to EPA's measurement protocol. In this paper, important theoretical studies are previewed and the following paper will explain the test results and confirm the theories reviewed to find out suitable coefficients. On the basis of test analysis, it will be described and evaluated various techniques that can be used to mitigate elevated indoor concentration of radon including the control of radon and its decay products.

선박 평형수 내 총 잔류 산화물(Total Residual Oxidant) 분석을 위한 Potassium Iodide (KI) Sensor 적용가능성 평가 (Feasibility Study on Potassium Iodide (KI) Sensor for Measuring Total Resiudual Oxidant in Ballast Water)

  • Potassium iodide (KI) TRO sensor에 의한 선박평형수의 살균 및 중화배출 기준이 되는 총 잔류 산화물(TRO)의 농도분석 적용 가능성을 검토하였다. UV 흡수파장 도출시험 및 흡광도 분석결과 350 nm 단일파장에서 TRO 농도에 대한 흡광도 값은 높은 상관관계($r^2=0.9825$)를 가지며 흡광도 값의 TRO 농도(0.1~7.0 mg/L) 수치화가 가능하였다. 상기 시험결과를 토대로 KI 기반의 센서 시스템 구축을 통해 기존의 센서(DPD 기반 시스템)와의 TRO 농도측정 비교결과 동일한 경향의 측정값이 도출되었으며, KI TRO 센서 시스템이 선박평형수 내 연속 TRO 측정장치로 적용할 수 있는 가능성이 있다고 판단하였다.

수질분야 총유기탄소 분석방법에 따른 장비별 특성 비교 (Comparison of Instrument Characteristics on the Total Organic Carbon Analysis Method in Water Samples)

  • TOC는 수중에 있는 유기물질의 90% 이상을 측정할 수 있으며 신속하고 용이하게 측정할 수 있기 때문에 기존에 사용된 유기오염물질의 지표인 BOD와 COD를 대체하고 있다. 수질오염공정시험기준에 따라 TOC를 측정할 때, 시료의 총탄소 중 무기탄소 비율이 50% 이상일 경우 NPOC법으로 분석하고, 휘발성유기화합물이 수 mg/L 이상일 경우 가감(TC-IC)법으로 분석하도록 규정되어 있다. 이러한 분석조건의 제한성을 검증하기 위해 정제수에 총유기탄소와 무기성 탄소의 비율이 다르게 하여 시험용액에서 총유기 탄소 농도결과를 확인하였는데 가감법과 NPOC법에서 큰 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 휘발성유기화합물 표준 용액을 첨가한 시료를 측정한 결과, NPOC법으로 분석할 때에 퍼징으로 인해 유실되는 탄소량은 크지 않은 것으로 나타나 시료에 휘발성유기화합물이 존재 시 분석방법에 따른 차이는 크지 않은 것으로 판단된다. 수질오염공정시험기준과 환경측정기기의 형식승인·정도검사 등에 관한 고시의 기준에 의한 판정 결과가 달라지는 경우를 판단하기 위해 국내에서 널리 사용하고 있는 2종류의 총유기탄소분석기의 현장시료 농도값 차를 비교한 결과, 제조사에 따라 NPOC법과 가감법에서 0.02~0.83 mg/L 차이가 있었으며, 이에 따라 기기 선정시 주의가 필요할 것으로 판단되었다.

공동주택 실물화재 실험 (A Full-scale Fire Test of an Apartment House)

  • 국내 저층 공동주택 화재시의 화재 전파 경로와 상층으로의 화재 전파를 살펴보기 위하여 4층 공동 주택을 대상으로 실물화재 실험을 수행하였다. 화재는 3층 주택에서 발화하는 것으로 하였고, 초기 화원은 주방에서 과열된 식용유에 발화되어 발생하는 것으로 하였다. 주택 내부 가연물은 일반 가정의 필수 가연물을 모두 포함하였다. 내부 화재 성상을 확인하기 위하여 가시화, 주요부의 온도측정, 산소농도 측정을 수행하였다. 실험 결과 초기 화원의 발화 시간, 화재 층 내부 각 구획으로의 전파시간, 전역화재 발생시간을 파악하였으며, 상층으로의 연소확대 경로를 파악하였다.

감마선과 UV 조사에 의한 항생제 분해 (Assays of Residual Antibiotics after Treatment of γ-ray and UV Irradiation)

  • The pollution of antibiotics is a major cause of spreading antibiotics resistant bacteria in the environment. Applications of ozonation, UV, and ${\gamma}-ray$ irradiations have been introduced to remove antibiotics in the effluents from wastewater treatment system. In this study, we compared the chemical (HPLC) and biological (antimicrobial susceptibility test, AMS) assays in measuring of the concentrations of residual antibiotics after ${\gamma}-ray$ and UV irradiation. Most samples were degraded by ${\gamma}-ray$ irradiation (1~2 kGy). However, lincomycin and tetracycline were not degraded by UV irradiation. The concentration of residual antibiotics, that was treated with ${\gamma}-ray$ and UV irradiation, measuring by bioassay was similar to HPLC. The concentrations of ${\gamma}-ray$ irradiated cephradine measured by AMS test were 2 times higher than that of HPLC assay, indicating AMS test is more sensitive than HPLC assay. These results indicate that ${\gamma}-ray$ irradiation technique is more useful than UV irradiation, and biological assay is more useful to detect the antibiotics and toxic intermediates in antibiotics degradation.

비피(鼻皮) 증류액의 항균, 소염, 항산화 작용에 대한 연구 (Studies on the Anti-bacterial, Anti-inflammatory and Anti-oxidant Effect of BPH)

  • Objectives : The purpose of the study is to test the antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects of BPH, which is composed of Pini Densiflorae Nodi Lignum and Querci Acutissimae Fructus, Angelicae Gigantis Radix, Cnidii Rhizoma, Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, Angelicae Tenuissimae Radix. Method : Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects of BPH on Propionibacterium acnes, one of anaerobic bacteria species were evaluated by measuring the levels of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) elimination and lipid peroxidation. Result : When BPH was applied to CCD-986sk (Human normal fibroblast) to confirm the level of cytokine(tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-8), its level increased in proportion to that of BPH's concentration, which indicated dose-dependent relationship. Using the Disk diffusion to measure the bacterial growth inhibition zone varying BPH concentration, it was found that the antibacterial effect of BPH was less than that of erythromycin, the control group, but was higher than that of saline, and it increased with higher concentrations. In a liquid culture medium containing BPH, the growth rate of Propionibacterium acnes was decreased by more than 10% at 25% BPH. After adding P. acnes to THP-1 monocyte, and treated it with BPH, and measuring the concentration of TNF-a and IL-8, it was observed that the amount of TNF-alpha and IL-8 significantly decreased depending on the level of BPH concentration. The ability to eliminate DPPH increased with higher BPH concentration. The inhibition of lipid peroxidation was increased by BHT treatment in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusion : Using Propionibacterium acnes, an anaerobic bacteria, we confirmed that BPH has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

휴대용 실내 미세먼지 농도 측정 장치 개발 (Development of a portable system for monitoring indoor particulate matter concentration)

  • Airborne particulate matter(PM) has been a global environmental problem. PM whose diameter is smaller than 10 ㎛ can permeate respiratory organs and has harmful effects on human health. Therefore, PM monitoring systems are necessary for management of PM and prevention of PM-induced negative effects. Conventional PM monitoring techniques are expensive and cumbersome to handle. In the present study, two types of PM monitoring devices were designed for measuring indoor PM concentration, portably. We experimentally investigated the performance of three commercial PM concentration measurement sensors in a closed test chamber. As a result, PM2008 sensor showed the best PM concentration measurement accuracy. Linear regression method was applied to convert PM concentration value acquired from PM2008 sensor into ground truth value. A mobile application(app.) was also created for users to check the PM concentration, easily. The mobile app. also provides safety alarm when the PM10 concentration exceeds 81 ㎛/m3. The developed hand-held system enables the facile monitoring of surrounding air quality.
