디젤기관 배기 배출물에 있어서 매연 응집체 크기 및 농도의 시간적 계측에 관한 연구 (A Study on Temporal Measurement of Size and Concentration for Soot Aggregates among Exhaust Emissions in Diesel Engines)

  • An optical method to measure the size and number density of soot aggregates in diesel exhaust has been proposed in this study. Two laser beams in co-axial alignment transmit a soot loaded exhaust gas flow, and the transmittance at each wavelength is detected by a photo diode simultaneously. The volume equivalent diameter and number density of soot aggregates in the optical path can be theoretically given by the transmittance values measured at two wavelengths. A test conducted by a single cylinder, 4 cycle, small and DI diesel engine shows that the temporal variations of the size and number density of soot aggregates in the diesel exhaust can be measured by the proposed method at a transient mode operation. It is found that the volume equivalent diameter varied temporally from 70 to 110 nm during the period that high soot concentration is observed. One can also conclude that the optical length longer than 1 m in the dynamic range regarding this method is preferable for measuring soot concentration at the level of $1\;mg/m^3$.

Corona generated Radio Interference of the 750 kV AC Bundle Conductors in Sandy and Dusty Weather Condition in the High Altitude Area

  • Sandy and dusty weather condition often occurs in the high altitude areas of China, which may greatly influence the corona generated radio interference (RI) characteristics of the bundle conductors of 750 kV AC power transmission lines. Corona generated RI of the conductors of the 750 kV AC power transmission lines used in practice is measured by EMI receiver with a coupling circuit and a coupling capacitor connected between the high voltage side and the earth side in fine and sandy and dusty condition. The measuring frequency is 0.5 MHz, and the quasi-peak detection is used. RI excitation function is calculated based on the corona RI current measured by the EMI receiver. Corona generated RI characteristics were analyzed from sand concentration and sand particle size. The test result shows that the corona generated RI excitation function is influenced by the sandy and dusty condition. Corona discharge of the conductors is more serious in sandy and dusty condition with an ultraviolet (UV) detector. Corona generated RI excitation function increases with the increase of sand concentration and also increases with the increase of particle size.

자가응답과 코티닌 측정에 의한 간접흡연 노출률 비교: 생체지표 활용의 정책적 필요성 (Differences in Environmental Tobacco Smoke Exposure between Self-reporting and Cotinine Test: The Application of Biomarkers)

  • Background: In monitoring exposure to environmental smoke (ETS), biomarkers can overcome the subjectivity and inaccuracy of self-reporting measurements, and have the advantage of reflecting ETS exposure in all places. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ETS exposure measurement using biomarkers such as urine cotinine. Methods: This study used the Korea National Health and Nutrition Survey data from 2009 to 2018. A total of 28,574 non-smokers with urine cotinine data were selected for the study. The cotinine concentration and ETS exposure rate using urine cotinine was estimated and then compared with the self-reporting measurements. The degree of agreement among measurements of ETS exposure was confirmed. Results: As a result of measuring ETS exposure with urine cotinine, 23,594 (83.8%) out of 28,574 subjects were classified as to exposure groups. This estimate differs significantly from measurements made by self-reporting. In addition, the average concentration of cotinine in non-smokers has decreased to a 10th level over the past 10 years. Based on the biomarker, the sensitivity of the self-reporting was 8.5%-29.0%, the specificity was 16.4%-19.5%, and the kappa value was 2.0%-5.8%. Conclusion: The findings of our study show that self-reporting measurement does not well reflect the extent to which non-smoker's exposure to smoking materials. Whereas cotinine concentration has decreased significantly over the past 10 years, the ETS exposure rate has not reduced. It strongly suggests the need for intervention in the group of non-smokers exposed to low concentrations of smoke. Therefore, an assessment using biomarkers such as cotinine-based measurement should be made in the Health Plan 2030.

CCD-986sk 세포 내 주박 분획물의 항주름 효능 (Anti-wrinkle effects of solvent fractions from Jubak on CCD-986sk)

  • 본 연구에서는 주박의 기능성 화장품 소재로서의 활용 가능성을 평가하기 위해 분획물에 따른 항산화 활성평가와 인간섬유아세포인 CCD-986sk 세포에서의 주름효능 평가를 진행하였다. ABTS+ radical 소거능 측정을 통해 항산화 활성을 확인한 결과, 주박 Ethyl Acetate 분획물 1,000 ㎍/ml 농도에서 75.5%로 나타나 분획 용매 중 가장 높은 항산화 활성을 보였다. Elastase, Collagenase 저해 활성 측정을 통해 주름 개선 효과를 확인하였으며, 두 실험 결과 모두 주박 Ethyl Acetate 분획물이 1,000 ㎍/ml 농도에서 가장 높은 효능을 나타내었다. UVB로 유도된 CCD-986sk 세포 내 pro-collagen type I의 합성율을 측정한 결과 주박은 동일농도에서 20 ㎍/ml에서 Ethyl Acetate, Water, Acetonitrile, Hexan 분획물 순으로 높은 효능을 보였다. 콜라겐 분해효소인 MMP-1의 저해률을 측정한 결과 4가지 용매 분획몰은 20 ㎍/ml에서 모두 70% 이상의 효능을 나타내었다. Real time PCR 실험에서 pro-collagen type I, MMP-1 및 MMP-3의 mRNA 발현량을 측정한 결과 UVB 단독군 대비 Jubak 추출물을 함께 처리했을 때 pro-collagen type I의 단백질 발현량이 증가되었고, MMP-1과 MMP-3의 mRNA 발현량은 감소하는 것을 확인하였으며 대조군(EGCG) 다음으로 Ethyl Acetate 추출물이 주름 개선에 가장 효능이 우수하였다. 이상의 결과로 주박의 용매 분획물 중 Ethyl Acetate 분획물은 UVB 자극에 의한 광노화에 대한 항주름 효과가 있음을 확인하여 화장품의 천연물 소재로서의 이용이 기대된다.

페인트에서 방출되는 TVOC 및 HCHO 방출량 예측모델 (A Prediction Model for TVOC and HCHO Emission of Paint Materials)

  • It is highly recognized that there is need for protection against indoor air pollution, as we realize environmental pollution is growing, For example, in an indoor environment, a person spends more than 80 percent of their time inside the building. Thus, concern about indoor decoration materials is growing, since they cause pollution in the rooms of an apartment, as well as in offices. As the indoor decoration materials become more diverse and lusurious, so the effect of VOCs(Volatile Organic Compounds) and HCHO(Formaldehy) is growing. The indoor decoration materials cause the Sick Building Syndrome, such as headaches, dizziness, or lack of concentraion, and they in turn cause serious deterioration in people's health. In this study, I probed the status of the indoor air pollution and carried on an investigation and analysis about the prevention technique. In doing so, I performed experimental tests and an assessment of the indoor decoration materials of an apartment. I also examined elements of the emitted and the emission. Finally, I examined the character of emissions, by changing environmental conditions, such as the temperature, humidity, and ventilation. With respect to VOCs tests, I applied the method of solid state adsorption using the adsorptive tube, based on the measurement of the American EPA TO-17, ASTM 5116-97, and the measurement of the Japanese Wall Decoration Industrial Association. The tested sample was analyzed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography, after going through the process of dissolvent extraction. As subjects of the test, Paint were selected. The process of this test is as follows; first, I figured out the character of the emission, by measuring the emitted concentration of VOCs and HOHC from the indoor decoration materials of an apartment. Second, I made a small-scale chamber and the test was processed in the chamber in order to suggest an environment-friendly prediction modlel development.

활성슬러지 반응탱크의 풍량제어지표인 NADH에 관한 연구 (Study on NADH which is the Air Volume Sensor in the Activated Sludge Reaction Tank)

  • Domestic sewerage treatment plant is operated by activated sludge method and its modified method by using microorganism. In most cases, a method of using microorganism is directly controlled by the operator based on individual judgment through factors of DO, pH and ORP. In addition, under aerobic condition in bioreactor, energy consumption including excessive air injection is learned to be somewhat plenty. In order to solve this problem, in most of the process, improvement of internal recycling and activated environmental factor of microorganism were researched extensively. However, as factors are changed depending on various conditions, it is not sufficient as an indicator of judgment. As such, a research on operation of bioreactor that measures metabolic change in short time by directly measuring activated condition of microorganism using NADH fluorometer is required in reality.It is considered that the method like this could supplement problem of energy consumption being occurred in the existing treatment method and operational optimization of bioreactor would be enabled by controlling optimal air volume. Therefore, in this study, in order to obtain optimal operational indicator of bioreactor, proper air volume control test was performed and through batch test and site evaluation, possibility of NADH sensor being utilized as operational control indicator of bioreactor is intended to be analyzed. In order to compare with measured value, DO, ORP that are operational control indicator of existing bioreactor were used. As MLSS concentration was increased through batch test, NADH value was increased and site evaluation also showed similar tendency to batch test. Resultantly, it could be confirmed that changing level of NADH fluorometer was a sensor that could measure bioreactor condition effectively and optimized scale of bioreactor is considered to be utilized.

화생방 보호의 성능평가를 위한 무선 실시간 가스 검출기 개발 (Development of Wireless Real-Time Gas Detector System for Chemical Protection Performance Test of Personal Protective Equipment)

  • Man-In-Simulant Test(MIST) provides a test method to evaluate chemical protective equipments such as protective garments, gloves, footwear and gas mask. The MIST chamber is built to control concentration of chemical vapor that has a activity space for two persons. Non-toxic methyl-salicylate(MeS) is used to simulate chemical agent vapor. We carried out to measure inward leakage MeS vapors by using passive adsorbent dosimeter(PAD) which are placed on the skin at specific locations of the body while man is activity according to the standard procedure in MIST chamber. But more time is required for PADs and there is concern of contamination in PADs by recovering after experiment. Therefore detector for measuring in real time is necessary. In order to analyze in real time the contamination of the personal protective equipment inside the chemical environment, we have developed a wireless real-time gas detector. The detector consists of 8 gas-sensors and 1 control-board. The control-board includes a CPU for processing a signal, a power supply unit for biasing the sensor and Bluetooth-chipset for transmission of signals to external PC. All signals from gas-sensors are converted into digital signals simultaneously in the control-board. These digital signals are stored in external PC via Bluetooth wireless communication. The experiment is performed by using protective equipment worn on manikin. The detector is mounted inside protective equipment which is capable of providing a real-time monitoring inward leakage MeS vapor. Developed detector is demonstrated the feasibility as real-time detector for MIST.

Acarbose 제제의 약력학적 평가 및 생물학적동등성 시험법에 대한 연구 (Methods for Pharmacodynamic Analysis and Proposed Protocols for Bioequivalence Study of Acarbose)

  • Arcabose is a competitive inhibitor of the intestinal ${\alpha}$-glucosidases and reduces the postprandial digestion and absorption of carbohydrate and disaccharides. Due to its negligible oral absorption, measuring drug concentration in the plasma is impractical. Thus, the common pharmacokinetic study is not available to determine the bioequivalence of the generic acarbose preparations. The aim of this study is the establishment of pharmacodynamic assessment method for the bioequivalence test of the generic acarbose preparations. Placebo-controlled cross-over ($3{\times}3$) clinical study was conducted in 23 healthy volunteers. Volunteers received a single oral dose of placebo, reference drug ($Glucoby^{(R)}$ 100 mg, Lot # D043) or test drug ($Glucoby^{(R)}$ 100 mg, Lot # E005) just before breakfast, then blood samples for evaluation of serum glucose and insulin levels were taken during for 4 hours. $C_{max},\;AUC_{0-2},\;AUC_{0-4},\;{\Delta}C_{max},\;{\Delta}AUC_{0-2}\;and\;{\Delta}AUC_{0-4}$ of the postprandial plasma glucose level significantly decreased when a single dose of acarbose 100 mg preparations was administered. However, any significant difference was not detected between the groups taken the reference drug and the test drug. These results proposed that the pharmacodynamic protocols of this study is suitable to use for bioequivalence test of acarbose preparations. On the basis of the results of this study and the data of literature on this subject, the standard protocols of bioequivalence study of acarbose preparation are proposed.

포도상구균에 대한 키토산의 항균성 측정을 위한 실험조건의 적정화 (Optimization of Experimental Conditions for the Chitosan Antibacterial Activity Test against Staphylococcus aureus)

  • Experimental conditions for evaluating chitosan antibacterial activities were established. The chitosan antibacterial activities were measured against the Staphylococcus aureus and evaluated for their application to antibacterial textile finishing. The strain of Staphylococcus aureus used in this experiments was KCTC 1916. The chitosan antibacterial activities were estimated from the bacterial densities or %reduction of bacteria in chitosan solutions and bacterial culture mixtures after incubation under specific conditions. Six parameters as follows were evaluated to optimize the experimental conditions for measuring antibacterial activities. The different combinations of mixtures according to the different ratios of chitosan solutions to the bacterial cultures showed different antibacterial activities. However, the chitosan antibacterial activities could be evaluated by comparing the data obtained from the same combinations of mixtures. The solvent influence on the chitosan solution antibacterial activities could be eliminated using control solution containing the same concentration of acetic acid. The initial pH of the chitosan -bacterial mixtures also affected the chitosan antibacterial activity; at a higher pH, higher activity in terms of %reduction of bacteria was observed. In case of the bacterial solution without either the acetic acid or chitosan, the initial pH of the solution did not significantly affect bacterial growth. The % reduction of bacteria increased when contact times of bacteria with chitosan in the chitosan -bacterial mixture were expended upto 24 hours. However, the chitosan antibacterial activities could be successfully evaluated at contact time 0 where the chitosan-bacterial mixture was plated immediately after mixing and incubated to measure the bacterial number to 24 hours. Evaluating %reduction of bacteria in the test mixtures after incubation were not changed when the inoculated bacterial concentrations were 2.3${\times}$10$\^$0/ml to 2.3${\times}$10$\^$6/ml. The optimal range of incubation time of the petri-Dish after plating the chitosan-bacterial mixture was 24 to 72 hours depending on the antibacterial activities of the test solutions.

경두개직류전류자극이 정상인의 주의집중력에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation on Concentration of Attention)

  • Purpose : Study on the effects of attention(working memory) for normal adults by applying transcranial Direct Current Stimulation(tDCS). Methods : There are two groups of 10 random people aged between 20 to 30, one is an experimental group(stimulation) and the other is a comparison group(simulate stimulation). For the 1st da y, pre-stimulation test is executed, and for the 2nd day to the 4th day, tDCS is applied stimulated both on the right prefrontal lobe and the left occipital lobe through the electrode. The stimulation lasts for 15 minutes with voltage power of 1mA for each day. The post-stimulation test is executed on the day of 5th. In this paper, a FAIR attention test is used for measuring the attention. Results : As the result of the experiment, there are significant gaps both on the value of P, the ability of selective attention, and the value of C, the consistent ability after the stimulation on right prefrontal and left occipital lobe. And there is no significant gap on the value Q, the quality(Control). However, all the P, Q, and C values are increased according to the average value between the pre-stimulation test and the post-stimulation. Conclusion : Finally, ability of selective attention and self-control, and consistent attention is progressed by applying the tDCS to the normal people.
