  • Due to the strength and biocompatibility requirement, the stainless steel SUS 316L is widely used for trauma internal fixation device. SUS 316L can be hardened and strengthened only by cold work. In this work, the material compression test is performed both in laboratory and computer simulation by a FEM analysis software DEFORM to correlate the hardness to strain. This data is then used for preform design and predict the hardness of the finish bone plate forging. Finally, we compared the hardness between the actual forging and computer analysis results. Although the predicted hardness from computer simulation. is 55HV higher than the final forging sample, we can get good compatibility on the hardening tendency of cold forging.

  • Generally, automatic design is carried out with computer simulation and the simulation models are established by investigating the correlations between the simulation and real experiments. Therefore, the experiment results are utilized as complimentary data although they are considered to be precise. Orthogonal arrays have been adopted for discrete design. A method is proposed to directly exploit the experiment results in the design process with orthogonal arrays. Experiments are allocated to some rows of an orthogonal array and computer simulations are allocated to the others. A rule for the allocation is found to keep the orthogonality. Error analysis of the design results is performed. Mathematical examples are made to verify the validity of the proposed method. Error models are defined with the examples and the design solutions from the examples are discussed.

  • The accurate assessment of the performance of nonuniform systems requires a thorough understanding of stability analysis. As a result, the theoretical modeling of the influence of various variables on the performance of small-scale nonuniform structures with conventional and non-conventional geometries is presented in this paper. According to the fundamental computer simulation based on mathematical and mechanical principles, the stability of the nonuniform structures is examined. Thus, a numerical procedure is used to simulate the stability and instability characteristics of the nonuniform small-scale structures via computer aid. Theoretic simulation methods provide a great deal of the design and production of small-scale structures at a low cost compared to experimental simulations. Thus, this paper provides a good presentation of the stability analysis of the nonuniform nanoscale structures with high accuracy without actual experimental.

  • Autonomous driving of unmanned aerial vehicles may have to pay expensive cost to create and switch new routes if unexpected obstacles exist or local map updates occured by the control system due to incorrect route information. Integrating digital twins into the path-following process requires more computing resources to quickly switch the wrong path to an alternative path, but it can quickly update the path during flight. In this study, we design a DEVS-based simulation environment which can modify optimized paths through short-term simulation of multi-virtual UAVs for applying digital twin concepts to path follow. Through simulation, we confirmed the possibility of increasing the mission stability of UAV.

  • The bobsleigh is a winter sport which use a sled to slide down an ice-covered course. There is a big expectation for having a training environment and being able to train year round. At present, training is very limited due to the season or course facilities. A variety of VR (Virtual Reality) equipment has been developed in recent years, and it is beginning to spread. We have also made our contribution in bobsleigh simulation. The reactive force applied in our bobsleigh simulation is much smaller than that of a real bobsleigh. This paper proposes a method to enhance reactive force of bobsleigh simulation in real time. The reactive force is magnified instantly in the physically-based simulation. The Laplacian filter is applied to the sequence of reactive force, this technique is often used in the field of image processing. The simulation is comprised of four large scale surround screens and a 6-D.O.F. (Degree Of Freedom) motion system. We also conducted an experiment with several motion patterns to evaluate the effectiveness of enhancement. The experimental results proved useful in some cases.

  • In this paper, the real time simulation of continuous dynamic system was performed by general integration algorithms using multiprocessor. For the stable simulation, the relation between stability of integration method and integration step-size was investigated from the stability graph. As a typical illustration, the real-time digital simulation and the real-time hard-ware-in-the-loop simulation of flight control system were performed and reviewed. Moreover through the real-time simulation, the design verification and performace test of flight control system could be evaluated. The computer used for simulation is AD10, which is a very high-speed special-purpose computer designed specifically for a time-critical simulation of large and complex models of dynamic systems. The simulation validity is demonstrated by comparing hardware simulation results with software simulation results.

  • This study aims to propose a simplified mathematical model for calculating vertical air temperature distribution in a four-sided atrium. In the first stage of the mathematical modeling, the computer model combined zonal model and solar radiation model using Monte Carlo method and Ray tracing technique went through a computer simulation with architectural variables applied to a four-sided atrium in summer. In the next stage, Curve Expert, a computer program that gets the most suitable solution ac-cording to the least squares method, is used to analyze the results of the computer simulation and to derive the mathematical model. The accuracy of the mathematical model was evaluated through a comparison of calculation results from a mathematical model and computer simulation. In this validation step using the least square method, the R2 value of the Zones 1, 2 and 3 showed higher than 0.945. Zone 4 has an R2 value of 0.911, lower than the previous three zones. However the relative error was below 0.5%, which is considered very small.

  • Cache performance is an important factor in hardware system. We proceed with a cache simulation to analyze the cache performance suitable for sound rendering. In addition, we introduce hardware models based on ray tracing used in geometric method and studies to improve cache performance. Cache simulation is performed on various conditions for cache size, way and block. Various simulations can be found to influence the cache hit rate. We compare cache simulation results with actual hardware performance to analyze cache performance suitable for sound rendering.
