In this paper, we propose a learning algorithm of fuzzy neural networks with trapezoidal fuzzy weights. This fuzzy neural networks can use fuzzy numbers as well as real numbers, and represent linguistic information better than standard neural networks. We construct trapezodal fuzzy weights by the composition of two triangles, and devise a learning algorithm using the two triangular membership functions, The results of computer simulations on numerical data show that the fuzzy neural networks have high fitting ability for target output.

When we apply the neural networks to applications, we need to select proper architecture of the network and the activation function of the network is one of most important characteristics. In this research, we propose a method to make a network using multiple activation functions. The performance of the proposed method is investigated through the computer simulations on various regression problems.

In this paper, we proposed the new method of extracting the position and the length of the input-line by using only two parameters ($\theta$, $\rho$) from the HT(Hough Transform) data. The computer simulations and the optical experiments by using the HT CGH(Computer Generated Hologram) filter is perfermed. The results are very similar to those of the computer simulation results.

In this paper, we present a ultrasonic speckle suppression method for centrifugal-casted stainless steel sample by computer simulations of a flaw enhancement algorithm. Because of their practical importance in welds, the ultrasonic signal obtained from heat-affected zone or welds are investigated for computer simulation. The results for computer simulation present the more enhanced flaw-visibility and speckle suppression than the compared two techniques.

We measured 3-dimensional images of the light emitted from plasma display panel by using newly proposed scanned point detecting method (SPDM). From the 3-dimensional emission images, we know that as the sustain voltage increases, intensity of light detected without phosphor increases and the position of the maximum intensity moves to the outside from the electrode gap. Also, we know that 2-dimensional simulations under the assumption that neglects the Y axis variation do not agree with 3-dimensional experiment results.

A good performance on communication systems is obtained by decreasing the length of training sequence In the initial stage of adaptive equalization. This paper presents a new approach to accomplish this, with the use of a training adaptive equalizer. The approach is based on combining the training and tracking modes, in which the training equalizer is updated by the LMS algorithm with the training sequence and then updated by a blind algorithm. By computer simulations, it is shown that a class of the proposed equalizers provides better performance than the conventional training equalizer.

Speech transmission is common in many communications systems. In this paper, a technique to reduce the total bits required for expressing the speech data is proposed for the purpose of a packet transmission. A novel coding method is derived based on the concept of finding common information in sequential speech samples. Computer simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme reduces the total bits re- quired in PCM approximately by half.

Image denoising is basic work for image processing, analysis and computer vision. This paper proposes a novel algorithm based on wavelet threshold for image denoising, which is combined with the linear CLS (Constrained Least Squares) filtering and thresholding methods in the transform domain. We demonstrated through simulations with images contaminated by white Gaussian noise that our scheme exhibits better performance in both PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) and visual effect.
