유체의 압축성을 고려한 ER 댐퍼의 동적 모델링 (Dynamic Modeling of ER Damper Considering Fluid Compressibility)

  • This paper proposes a new method for dynamic modeling of electrorheological (ER) damper considering fluid compressibility. After describing configuration and operating principle of the ER damper, a quasi-static modeling of the ER damper is conducted on the basis of Bingham model of ER fluid. Subsequently, the dynamic model for describing the ER damper considering compressibility of ER fluid and gas chamber is obtained using the lumped parameter method. This method includes dynamic motions of annular duct, upper chamber, lower chamber and connecting pipe. The hysteresis behavior of the ER damper is evaluated through computer simulations and compared with experimental results. In addition, the hysteresis behavior due to the compressibility of ER fluid and gas chamber is investigated through computer simulations.

최소 분산 캡스트럼을 이용한 노이즈속에 묻힌 임펄스 검출방법-이론 (Detection of Impulse Signal in Noise Using a Minimum Variance Cepstrum-Theory)

  • Conventional cepstrum has been widely used to detect echo and fault signals embedded in noise. One of the problems of finding impulse signals using the conventional cepstrum in that it is normally very sensitive to signal to noise ratio (SNR). This paper proposes a signal processing method to detect impulse signal in noisy environment. Because the proposed method minimizes the variance of signal power at a cepstrum domain, it is suggested to be called as minimum variance cepstrum (MV cepstrum). Computer simulations have been performed to understand the characteristics of the MV cepstrum. Both mathematical approach and computer simulations confirmed that the MV cepstrum is a useful technique to detect impulse in noisy environment.

CMAC 제어기를 이용한 점착 미끄럼 마찰의 제어 (Control of Stick-Slip Friction with a CMAC)

  • This paper proposes a CMAC-based controller for servo systems with stick-slip friction. Performance of the controller was evaluated from computer simulations and compared with that of a conventional PID controller. Firction model used in the simulations is based upon the one proposed by Tustin. It was shown that the CMAC-based controller settles more quickly, and overshoots less than the PID. It was also shown that the CMAC is less sensitive to the changes of the plant parameters.

  • This paper proposes a new NLC (Nearest Level Control) scheme for MMCs (Modular Multilevel Converters), which offers voltage ripple reductions in the DC capacitor of the SM (Sub-Module), the output voltage harmonics, and the switching losses. The feasibility of the proposed NLC was verified through computer simulations. Based on these simulation results, a hardware prototype of a 10kVA, DC-1000V MMC was manufactured in the lab. Experiments were conducted to verify the feasibility of the proposed NLC in an actual hardware environment. The experimental results were consistent with the results obtained from the computer simulations.

A Network-Based Handover Scheme in HIP-Based Mobile Networks

  • In the Host Identity Protocol (HIP), the existing host-based handover scheme tends to induce large handover delays and packet loss rates. To deal with this problem, we are proposing a network-based handover scheme for HIP in the mobile networks, in which the access routers of the mobile node will establish a handover tunnel and will perform the route optimization for data transmission. We also discuss how to extend the HIP Update message to use the proposed handover scheme. From ns-2 simulations, we can see that the proposed handover scheme can significantly reduce the handover delay and packet losses during handover, as compared to the existing handover schemes.

  • This paper shows the results of classical molecular dynamics modeling for the interaction between spherical nano abrasive and substrate in chemical mechanical polishing processes. Atomistic modeling was achieved from 3-dimensional molecular dynamics simulations using the Morse potential functions for chemical mechanical polishing. The abrasive dynamics was modeled by three cases, such as slipping, rolling, and rotating. Simulation results showed that the different dynamics of the abrasive results the different features of surfaces. The simulation concerning polishing pad, abrasive particles and the substrate has same results.

A Compensator for Lateral Current Reduction Applied to Autonomously Controlled UPSs Connected in Parallel

  • This paper presents a compensator for reduction of the reactive lateral current in multiple autonomously controlled uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) connected in parallel. This compensator acts directly on the control equation for voltage amplitude and it provides an improved current distribution especially in the case of parallel connection of UPSs with different output power ratings. Observations show that the original control equation for output voltage amplitude is efficient for voltage regulation but it causes great variation of voltage levels. A compensator with the same structure is added to counterbalance the variation caused by the original control equation. Simulations show promising results with the employment of the proposed compensator. Our simulations are confirmed by experimental results using three UPSs with different output ratings and voltage limiters ($1\%$) connected in parallel under various conditions.

  • A LMS algorithms has been widely used for an adaptive filter algorithm in active noise control systems. But this algorithm has poor convergence and it is very difficult to select optimal convergence parameters in this algorithm. In this paper, a fuzzy LMS algorithm where the convergence parameters are computed using a fuzzy logic controller was proposed. A proposed algorithm was applied to active noise control system in HVAC(central Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) ducts. The experimental ducts and experimental apparatus were designed and manufactured for experiments, and the modelling of the experimental ducts was also performed for computer simulations. Computer simulations and experiments were performed to show the effectiveness of a proposed algorithm.

Big data analysis via computer and semi numerical simulations for dynamic responses of complex nanosystems

  • In the present research, for the first time, the vibrational as well as buckling characteristics of a three-layered curved nanobeam including a core made of functionally graded (FG) material and two layers of smart material-piezo-magneto-electric-resting on a Winkler Pasternak elastic foundation are examined. The displacement field for the nanobeam is chosen via Timoshenko beam theory. Also, the size dependency is taken into account by using nonlocal strain gradient theory, aka NSGT. Then, by employing Hamilton's principle, energy procedure, the governing equations together with the boundary conditions are achieved. The solution procedure is a numerical solution called generalized differential quadrature method, or GDQM. The accuracy and reliability of the formulation alongside solution method is examined by using other published articles. Lastly, the parameter which can alter and affect the buckling or vocational behavior of the curved nanobeam is investigated in details.

소형 컴퓨터를 이용한 선박 조종 시뮬레이터 개발 (Development of a PC-based Ship Maneuvering Simulator)

  • A PC-based ship maneuvering simulator was developed which was configured in a high performance IBM PC compatible i486 and i286 computer with a TMS 340 graphic signal processor and 10 MBPS Ethernet Cards. A real-time ship maneuvering simulation program was developed which includes computer generated imagery (CGI) for bird's eye view type and perspective view type. The simulator H/W was designed and manufactured and S/W for interface of various navigation equipments was made Especially, programs for output, analysis, and assessment of simulations results were developed. Communications between PC's are made by using Ethernet bus type LAN system. Simulations could be performed under various environments (current, wind, wave etc.) using data base of harbors and ships. This system can be used for various purposes such as crew's training, harbor and waterway design, and assessment of ship maneuverability in harbor.
