  • Chromakey method is one of key technologies for realizing virtual studio, and the blue portions of a captured image in virtual studio, are replaced with a computer generated or real image. The replaced image must be changed according to the camera parameter of studio for natural merging with the non-blue portions of a captured image. This paper proposes a novel method to extract camera parameters using the recognition of pentagonal patterns that are painted on a blue screen. We extract corresponding points between a blue screen. We extract corresponding points between a blue screen and a captured image using the projective invariant features of a pentagon. Then, calculate camera parameters using corresponding points by the modification of Tsai's method. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is more accurate compared to conventional method and can process about twelve frames of video per a second in Pentium-MMX processor with CPU clock of 166MHz.

  • This paper proposes a motion-video multimedia system needed for computer applications like remote lecturing, distance learning, product demonstrations, and so on. The applications need a multimedia system which can author and play a motion-Video that is composed with computer screen images and audio continuously varing as time flows, not with real motion videos. Since the computer screen images are not like the real world video images in several rejects, MPEG is not competent as a compression algorithm for computer screen images raring continuously In this paper a new compression algorithm has been proposed, and a multimedia system that authors and plays a motion-video file which contains computer screen images and audio has been implemented. Also this paper shows the result of performance evaluation of both the compression algorithm and the multimedia system implemented in the paper.

  • A large amount of processing time is required if the process of detecting the touch position on the touch screen and displaying it on the display panel is performed only by software. In this paper, we propose a method to output information touched on the screen using H/W method in order to improve the response speed delay. In the FPGA module designed for the HDMI signal output to the display module, the touch information is input to the serial data signal including touch coordinate information, point size, and color information. Then the module render the image using HDMI signal input to the module and the touch information. This method has a pipeline structure so it has effect of reducing the delay time that occurs in outputting the touch information compared with the conventional software processing method.

  • Computer technology pursuing more innovative image than before, makes some characteristics which distinguishes the digital fiction film from the analogue fiction film. One hand, the split screen in analogue film aides the development of drama in the aspect of narrative, on the other hand, it controls the psychology of spectator. The composite image in digital fiction film by computer graphic, and elaborated digital editing show many innovation in the field of audiovisual. In this context, I would like to remark on the digital film (2003) directed by Ang-Lee. In , the split screen and the composition of the fast transiition of shots in the scene of laboratory were created by computer graphic program for special effects. As visual special effect plays an important role in digital film, its narrative space creates a space which is distinguishable from that of analogue film. This can be an example which says a lot for the special aspect of digital narrative.

  • In this paper we present a system that enables the user to interact with large display system even without touching the screen. With two infrared sensitive cameras mounted on the bottom left and bottom right of the display system pointing upwards, the user fingertip position on the selected region of interest of each camera view is found using vertical intensity profile of the background subtracted image. The position of the finger in two images of left and right camera is mapped to the display screen coordinate by using pre-determined matrices, which are calculated by interpolating samples of user finger position on the images taken by pointing finger over some known coordinate position of the display system. The screen is then manipulated according to the calculated position and depth of the fingertip with respect to the display system. Experimental results demonstrate an efficient, robust and stable human computer interaction.

  • In this paper, we propose advanced screen detector as a tool for selecting the object for tracking and estimating its distance from a screen using fuzzy logic in vision based pointing device. Our system classifies the line component of the input image into horizontal and vertical lines and applies the fuzzy rule to obtain the best line pair which constitute peripheral framework of the screen. The proposed system improves the detection ratio for detecting the screen in relative to the detector used in the previous works for hand-held type vision based pointing device. Also it allows to detect the screen even though a small part of it may be hidden behind other object.

  • Gaze detection is to find out the position on a monitor screen where a user is looking at, using the computer vision processing. This System can help the handicapped to use a computer, substitute a touch screen which is expensive, and navigate the virtual reality. There are basically two main types of the study of gaze detection. The first is to find out the location by face movement, and the second is by eye movement. In the gaze detection by eye movement, we find out the position with special devices, or the methode of image processing. In this paper, we detect not the iris but the pupil from the image captured by Head-Mounted Camera with infra-red light, and accurately locate the position where a user looking at by A(fine Transform.

  • On original exhibits, which is passive and repeat itself endlessly irrelevant of the present of spectators, reduce its immersion. Therefore in this paper, we propose the scheme to recreate original exhibits be adding automatic screen saver by using division of different images to make experimental of an area of different images, to judge movement, maintain conditions or to propose the transition of mechanism. By implementing and analyzing this automatic screen saver, which was made through the scheme of proposition, we show the positive aspect of the use of centralized automatic screen saver.

  • We propose a universal image processor for a-Si TFT LCD of UXGA class that can display the full screen on the LCD panel with low resolution of video sources such as NTSC, VGA, SVGA, XGA, and SXGA by using the proposed interpolation filter. In addition, we propose a real-time contrast controller for image improvement of multi-gray scale image. The operation of the proposed methods has been verified using Synopsys VHDL and computer simulation. Results show that the proposed methods might be suitable for a UXGA LCD controller for real-time image improvement.

  • The evolution of input device for computer has pretty much slowed down after the introduction of mouse as feinting input device. Even though stylus and touch screen were invented later on which provide some alternatives, all these methods were designed to have close range interaction with computer. There are not many options available for user to interact with computer from afar, which is especially needed during presentation. Therefore, in this paper, we try to fill the gap by proposing a laser pointer interaction system to allow user to give pointing input command to the computer from some distance away using only laser pointer, which is cheap and readily available. With the combination of image processing based software, we could provide mouse-like pointing interaction with computer. The proposed system works well not only in currently plane screen, but also in flexible screen by incorporating the feature of non-linear coordinate mapping algorithm in our system so that our system can support non-linear environment, such as curved and flexible wall.
