A study has been made on the applicability of gas-liquid partition chromatography to the qualitative and quantitative analysis of complex mixture of gaseous hydrocarbons. While phthalate columns are widely used for this $purpose^9$, they separates neither saturated hydrocarbons from the unsaturated nor n-butane from isobutene or butene-1, therefore combined columns such as phthalate and dimethylsulfolane have been used for the perfect separation of gaseous hydrocarbons. It is shown by this study, however, that hydrocarbons having $C_1$ through $C_4$ can be separated with a 2-meters tetraethyleneglycol dimethylether column except ethane from ethylene, and trans-from cis-2-butene especially operated at $15^{\circ}C$$ using helium as the carrier gas. The column effluents were in order of methane, (ethane, ethylene), propane, propylene, isobutane, n-butane, isobutylene, butene-1, (trans-& cis-2-butene, isopentane), (butadiene-1, 3, n-pentane). Two kinds of liquified petroleum gases in market are analysed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results indicate that use of this 2-meters TEGDE column permits the separation and identification of all the commonly encountered aliphatic gaseous hydrocarbons.

This paper presents a numerical investigation of the deflagration-to-detonation transition (DDT) of flame acceleration by a shock wave filled with an ethylene/air mixture as the combustible gas, considering geometrical changes by using obstacles and bent tubes. The model used consists of the reactive compressible Navier-Stokes equations and the ghost fluid method (GFM) for complex boundary treatment. Simulations with a variety of bent tubes with obstacles show the generation of hot spots through flame and strong shock-wave interactions, and restrained or accelerated flame propagation due to geometrical effects. In addition, the simulation results show that the DDT occurs with a nearly constant chemical heat-release rate of 20 MJ/($g{\bullet}s$) in our numerical setup. Furthermore, the DDT triggering time can be delayed by the absence of unreacted material together with insufficient pressures and temperatures induced by different flame shapes, although hot spots are formed in the same positions.

Copper ink has been prepared by mixing copper(II) formate and 2-ethyl-1-hexylammonium bicarbonate (EHABC) to overcome some weak points such as aggregation and degradation of copper nano-type ink. Ink was coated on glass substrate and calcined at $110^{\circ}C$ to $150^{\circ}C$ to generate electrically conductive copper film under two different atmospheres such as nitrogen gas and gaseous mixture of formic acid and methanol. The lowest resistivity of $1.88{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ of copper film was obtained at $150^{\circ}C$ in gaseous formic acid condition. The long-term resistivity shows to increase from $1.88{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ to $2.61{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ after one month.
One-dimensional aluminum nitride (AlN) nanostructures were synthesized by calcining an Al(OH)(succinate) complex, which contained a very small amount of iron as a catalyst, under a mixed gas flow of nitrogen and CO (1 vol%). The complex decomposed into a homogeneous mixture of alumina and carbon at the molecular level, resulting in the lowering of the formation temperature of the AlN nanostructures. The morphology of the nanostructures such as nanocone, nanoneedle, nanowire, and nanobamboo was controlled by varying the reaction conditions, including the reaction atmosphere, reaction temperature, duration time, and ramping rate. Iron droplets were observed on the tips of the AlN nanostructures, strongly supporting that the nanostructures grow through the vapor-liquid-solid mechanism. The variation in the morphology of the nanostructures was well explained in terms of the relationship between the diffusion rate of AlN vapor into the iron droplets and the growth rate of the nanostructures.
We present a numerical investigation on gaseous (ethylene-air mixture) detonation in the elastoplastical metal tubes to understand the wall effects associated with the developing detonation instability. The acoustic disturbances originating from the rapidly expanding tube walls reach the detonating flame surface, thereby causing flame distortions and total energy losses. The compressible Navier-Stokes equations with equation of state for gas and elasto-plastic deformation field equations for inert tubes are solved simultaneously to understand the complex multi-material interaction in the rapidly expanding gas pipe. In order to track governing variables across the material interface, we use the hybrid particle level-set and ghost fluid methods to precisely estimate the interfacial quantities. Features observed from the deforming (thin) tube show substantially different behavior when a detonation propagates in the rigid (thick) tube with no acoustically responding wall conditions.
Plants are a traditional source of many chemicals used as biochemical, flavors, food, color, and pharmaceuticals in various countries, especially India. Most herbal medicines and their derivatives are often made from crude extracts containing a complex mixture of various phytochemical chemical components (secondary metabolites of the plants). This study aimed to identify bioactive compounds from the different parts of the plant from the ethanolic extract of Gymnema sylvestre, Senna auriculata, and Cissus quadrangularis (leaves, flower, stem) by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS). The gas chromatography - mass spectrometry analysis revealed the presence of various compounds like 3,4-dimethylcyclohexanol, hexanoic acid, D-mannose, and N-decanoic acid. Hence, the Gymnema sylvestre, Senna auriculata, and Cissus quadrangularis may have chemopreventive, anti-cancer, anti-microbial activity, antioxidant, anti-diabetic activity, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal due to the presence of secondary metabolites in the ethanolic extract. These phytochemicals are supported for traditional use in a variety of diseases.
Propagation phenomena of nonlinear pressure waves in a bubbly mixture are studied. The governing equations for a bubbly mixture are derived heuristically and energy equation is incorporated with other governing equations to take thermal effects into consideration inside the bubble. This non-isothermal condition of the bubble inside is especially important when high amplitude pressure waves are treated. Keller's equation is adapted for the bubble dynamics as practical problem. Some numerical simulations are carried out for the shock tube problem using a computer program based on the above model. A comparison with experimental results of Noordzij and van Wijngaarden shows that the structure of the wave in the shock tube experiment seems to be much more significantly affected 요 the complex heat transfer phenomena inside the bubbles than by the relative translational motion between bubbles and surrounding liquid.

Thermoacoustic oscillation is a significant problem in cylindrical-type combustors such as common internal combustion engines, industrial furnaces, gas turbine, etc. This kind of low frequency oscillation can give rise to serious troubles such as the destruction of system or producing of a strong noise. Accurate numerical simulation of thermoacoustic phenomena is a complex and challenging problem. Especially, considering the reaction of mixture intensifies the difficulty of analysis. Like as other simulations of the aerodynamics and aeroacoustics, direct computation of thermoacoustic phenomena requires that the Navier-Stokes equations be solved using accurate numerical differentiation and time-marching schemes, with non-reflecting boundary conditions. In this study,, numerical approach aims at qualitative analysis and efficient prediction of problem, not at the development of an accurate scheme. Overally speaking, numerical prediction is reasonably matched with experimental result.
With miniaturization of semiconductor, the manufacturing process become more complex, and undetected small changes in the state of the equipment have unexpectedly changed the process results. Fault detection classification (FDC) system that conducts more active data analysis is feasible to achieve more precise manufacturing process control with advanced machine learning method. However, applying machine learning, especially in supervised learning criteria, requires an arduous data labeling process for the construction of machine learning data. In this paper, we propose a semi-supervised learning to minimize the data labeling work for the data preprocessing. We employed equipment status variable identification (SVID) data and optical emission spectroscopy data (OES) in silicon etch with SF6/O2/Ar gas mixture, and the result shows as high as 95.2% of labeling accuracy with the suggested semi-supervised learning algorithm.
Crude oil is complex mixture if thousands of different organic compound formed from a variety of organic materials that are chemically converted under differing geological conditions over long periods of time. Also oil composition varies according to crude source, refining, processing, handling and storage. The oil fingerprint method is application if specific knowledge of petrochemicals and use if sophisticated analytical equipment and techniques to identify the source(s) if oil pollution. KCG currently utilizes four primary analytical techniques: Gas Chromatography (GC), Fluorescence Spectroscopy(FL), Infrared Spectroscopy(IR) and Gas Chromatography mass spectrometer(GC/MS). Of all these techniques, GC technique are most widely used Gas Chromatography is used as a primary analytical method because high reliableness, high separating efficiency and repeatability.
