  • The poly-Si thin film transistor (TFT) shows large variations in its characteristics due to the grain boundary of poly-crystalline silicon. This results in unacceptably large input offset of low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) receivers. To cancel the large input offset of poly-Si TFT LVDS receivers, a full-digital offset compensation scheme has been developed and verified to be able to keep the input offset under 15 mV which is sufficiently small for LVDS signal receiving.

  • The block matching algorithm motion estimation is a soft-core for hardwired motion estimation block in MPEG-2, H.261 encoder. This motion estimation has been tested and verified to be valid for implementation of FPGA. Efficiency performance of the synthesized motion estimation was up to 89%, and the average PSNR between the original image and the motion-compensated image is 38dB.

  • In the composite deck system, beams and deck plates deflect during construction. This lens-shaped deflection may cause problems in the serviceability of a building. Therefore, it should be compensated to be level. Several methods for leveling of floor slab are available, such as increasing stiffness of structural members, pouring additional concrete. In this study, additional weight and volume o( concrete for level compensation are examined for various size of floors.

  • In this paper, we analyze the errors associated with electric field interference for fiber-optic voltage sensors working in a three-phase electric system. For many practical conductor arrangements, the electric filed interference may cause errors unacceptable for the accuracy requirements of the sensors. We devised a real time compensation method for the interference by introducing geometric and weight factors. We realized the method using simple electronic circuits and obtained the real time compensated outputs with errors of 1 %.

  • The deterministic errors of semiconductor gyros and accelerometers must be estimated and compensated to develop the low-cost IMU using them. Generally, the dominant errors of the low-cost IMU are bias and misalignment errors. Bias is sensitive to temperature. Therefore, in this paper, the effect on temperature of bias is analyzed and temperature compensation are carryed out. It is shown by experiment that the compensation is efficient.

  • Nonideality of LED lens and diffuser as well as crosstalk between backlights should be compensated because they have large effects on image qualities. The computation complexities of conventional compensations are greatly increased as resolution becomes higher. The block based compensation is proposed to alleviate the computation complexity considering backlight profiles and image pixel characteristics.

  • This paper presents a compensation method for discrete-time control systems with saturation nonlinearities to cope with the reset windup phenomena. The proposed ARW (Anti-Reset Windup) method is motivated by the concept of the equilibrium point. The design parameter of the ARW scheme is explicitly derived by minimizing a reasonable performance index. The resulting dynamics of the compensated controller exhibits the reduced model form of the unsaturated system which can be obtained by the singular perturbational model reduction method. An example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper describes the possible undesier-able side effects that thyristor controlled compensation may have upon in several relays. This process consisted of calculating line conditions for each of the fault, compensation and loading levels. In some cases their effectiveness at coordinating compensated lines is lost, as they no longer can always accurately determine "distances" to faults.
