  • This study was conducted in order to investigate the effect of resveratrol on the induction of apoptosis in MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells. The result of 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl terazolium bromide (MTT) assay shows that cell viability significantly decreased in a dose and time-dependent manner. 4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) staining shows significantly increased chromatin condensation in a dose and time-dependent manner. Resveratrol increased the expression of p53, cleaved-caspase-3, and cleaved-caspase-9, whereas the expression of PI3K/Akt decreased in a time-dependent manner. We investigated the in vivo tumor growth inhibitory effect of resveratrol. Tumor volume was significantly decreased in the 50 mg/kg resveratrol-administration group compared to the control group. In the 50 mg/kg treated group. Apoptosis cells were frequently observed by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay. Immunohistochemistry staining shows increased the expression of p53, cytochrome-C, and cleaved-caspase-3 in the 50 mg/kg treated group. These results indicate that resveratrol induced apoptosis through PI3K/Akt and p53 signal pathway in MDA-MB-231 cell.

  • In this paper, we give linearization of generalized Fi-bonacci sequences {$g_n$} and {$q_n$}, respectively, defined by Eq.(5) and Eq.(6) below and use this result to give the matrix form of the nth power of a companion matrix of {$g_n$} and {$q_n$}, respectively. Then we re-prove the Cassini's identity for {$g_n$} and {$q_n$}, respectively.

  • In this paper, the explicit determinants of the circulant and negacyclic matrix involving Tetranacci sequence $M_n$ and Companion-Tetranacci sequence $K_n$ are expressed by using only Tetranacci sequence $M_n$ and Companion-Tetranacci sequence $K_n$. Also euclidean norms and spectral norms of circulant and negacyclic matrices have been obtained.

  • We present new bounds for the numerical radius of bounded linear operators and 2 × 2 operator matrices. We apply upper bounds for the numerical radius to the Frobenius companion matrix of a complex monic polynomial to obtain new estimations for the zeros of that polynomial. We also show with numerical examples that our new estimations improve on the existing estimations.

  • Recently, many researchers have studied on agent-based edutainment systems to improve students' learning experience. In this paper, we present AR Gardening which makes users experience interactive flower gardening with a bluebird, a learning companion agent, squatting in an augmented picture. The proposed system augments the animated bluebird to support interactive edutainment experiences. The bluebird perceives users' actions as well as environmental situations. It then appraises situational information to provide participants with problem-solving guidelines. Moreover, the bluebird responds like a companion than an instructor through anthropomorphic expression. To demonstrate our work, we exhibited the implemented AR Gardening and reviewed participants' responses to the system. In this exhibition, we could find that the learning companion-like bluebird helped users experience how to properly grow the flower in our educational setting. Ultimately, we expect that an augmented peer learning agent is one of the key factors for developing effective edutainment applications.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic data for the development direction and strategy for medicines through analysis of differences in choice attributes according to customers awareness of medicines and experience. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted on dietary education among national network trainees and lecturers by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock in Daegu, Gyeongsan, and Ulsan, Seoul from December 5, 2016, respectively. First, factor analysis results showed that six factors were extracted with respect to the choice of the restaurant. Second, the difference in each factor according to the recognition and experience of medicinal herbs was the health related factor as sex, females, age 50~59 years, companion others, and publicity and advertising' factors were more important for publicity and advertisement when the gender was female, the customer's age was 40~49 years, the companion was other, and the time of use was during the weekend. Among the factors related to 'getting dressed', the more important gender was female, age 40~49 years, and the other partner, The factors related to 'time' were as follows: sex, age, age 20~29 years, no accompanying companions, no time of use, and time importance. The 'menu' factors were more important for men, gender, women, age 40~49 years, companion for guitar, and usage time for weekend dinner. The 'service' factors were more important in 'service' as sex, male age, age 20~29, companion family, usage time, and weekend dinner.

  • Protoplasts were isolated from the parenchyma supension cultured cells of Streptanthus tortus using hydrolytic enzymes, 0.03% cellulase + 0.02% pectinase. Phloem cells and companion protoplasts were isolated from differentiated suspension cultured cells using hydrolytic enzymes, 0.2% macerase + 0.03% cellulase + 0.02% pectinase + 0.025% rohamet PC. Isolated parenchyma -and companion- protoplasts transported glucose into the cells, but not transported sucrose at all. On the other hand, isolated phloem cells transported sucrose into the cells actively, but not transported glucose. These results show for the first time that loading of sucrose into the phloem cells without nucleus was possible without contributing of companion cells and companion cells had not the ability to transport sucrose directly because of lack of sucrose carriers in the membrane. The sucrose transport into the isolated phloem cells depend on metabolic energy.

  • In this paper, we describe CAMAR Companoin, a context-aware mobile AR system that provides a user-adaptive assistance with an augmented picture according to the user's context in smart space. It recognizes physical objects and tracks the movement of those objects with a camera embodied to a mobile device. CAMAR Companion observes a mobile user's context, which is sensed by various kinds of sensors in environments, and infers user preference for the content in the situation. It recommends multimedia content relevant to the user's context. It overlays selected content over associated physical objects and enables the user to experience the content in a user-centric manner. Furthermore, we have developed the prototype to illustrate how our system could be used for a mobile user's well-being care applications in smart home environments. In this application, we found that our system could perceive a user preference even though a user's context is changed dynamically, and then adapt the multimedia content with respect to the user's context effectively. As such, the proposed user-adaptive system has the potential to play an important role in developing customized user interfaces in mobile devices.
