  • A 500 km/h linear motor high speed terrestrial transportation service is planned to launch 2027 in Japan. In order to support 5G service in the train, the Sub-carrier spacing frequency of 30 kHz is planned to be used instead of common 15 kHz sub-carrier spacing to mitigate Doppler effect in such high-speed transportation. In addition, to increase the cell size of 5G mobile system, plural Base Station antenna will transmit the identical Down Link (DL) signal to form the expanded cell size along the train rail. In this situation, forward and backward antenna signals will be Doppler shifted by reverse direction respectively and the receiver in the train might suffer to estimate accurate Channel Transfer Function (CTF) for its demodulation. In this paper, Delay and Doppler Profiler (DDP) based Channel Estimator is proposed and it is successfully implemented in signal processing simulation system. Then the simulated performances are compared with the conventional Time domain linear interpolated estimator. According to the simulation results, QPSK modulation can be used even under severe channel condition such as 500 km/h, 2 path reverse Doppler Shift condition, although QPSK modulation can be used less than 200 km/h with conventional Channel estimator.

  • This paper describes the mean time delay and its variance before transition from search to lock mode by means of signal flow graph and its transfer function. A relation between hit probability and search stage number is presented with the comparison of the open loop and closed loop. From these results optimum transition probability which we must hold can be obtained.

  • The family of ISO/IEEE11073 standards is the basis of the e-health system and provides interoperability for personal health devices. In the early stage of e-health business, it was expected that people would use a health device individually. In this case, a measurement datum was episodically acquired and generally transmitted for one person at a time. Recently, a health device is expected to be used by multiple people, and large amounts of measurement data are gathered in a short time interval. In addition, mobile health devices have become more popular, so that energy efficient measurement data transmission is required, to prolong the use of a device. In IEEE11073 PHD standards, data transmission is classified into three different types: immediate individual transfer, small block transfer, and large block transfer. The large block transfer using PM-store concept provides efficient transmission. However, an existing PM-store has problem when a device is used by multiple people. To address the defined problem, a modified PM-segment that is in compliance with 11073 standards is proposed in this paper. In particular, the proposed PM-segment is designed to minimize the additional complexity of an agent instead of a manager and it is interoperable with the existing manager. The proposed PM-segment shows better performance than the existing PM-segment, in terms of memory requirements and expected queue time. Also, performance comparison among the three transfers is performed in regard to the delay time and communication power consumption points of view.

  • A new research of geographic information system has been focused on an open architecture, interoperability and extensibility in their design. In order to process huge data, multidimensional data and heterogeneous geographic format data, these research move away from monolithic system to open structure system managing application layer and user interface layer. Nowadays, many developers have used CORBA middleware for the OGIS systems. However, CORBA middleware has some problems that support only a point-to-point communication and takes a long time to transfer sever data to client. Thus, in this paper, we propose a method on modifying a point-to-point communication and implement the efficient communication method. The proposed method that transfer data from sever to client in one connection support a group communication and reduce a transfer time delay.

  • An Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based wireless communication system has drawn wide attention for its high transmission rate and high spectrum efficiency in not only radio but also Underwater Acoustic (UWA) applications. Because of the narrow sub-carrier spacing of OFDM, orthogonality between sub-carriers is easily affected by Doppler effect caused by the movement of transmitter or receiver. Previously, Doppler compensation signal processing algorithm for Desired propagation path was proposed. However, other Doppler shifts caused by delayed Undesired signal arriving from different directions cannot be perfectly compensated. Then Receiver Bit Error Rate (BER) is degraded by Inter-Carrier-Interference (ICI) caused in the case of Multi-path Doppler channel. To mitigate the ICI effect, a modified Delay and Doppler Profiler (mDDP), which estimates not only attenuation, relative delay and Doppler shift but also sampling clock shift of each multi-path component, is proposed. Based on the outputs of mDDP, an ICI canceling multi-tap equalizer is also proposed. Computer simulated performances of one-tap equalizer with the conventional Time domain linear interpolated Channel Transfer Function (CTF) estimator, multi-tap equalizer based on mDDP are compared. According to the simulation results, BER improvement has been observed. Especially, in the condition of 16QAM modulation, transmitting vessel speed of 6m/s, two-path multipath channel with direct path and ocean surface reflection path; more than one order of magnitude BER reduction has been observed at CNR=30dB.

  • The Network-based handover still has problems such as the transmission delays and the packet losses in the case of macro mobility, though technological advances have been made in the wireless and mobile communication. For end-to-end handover, the link bandwidth has been reduced in the wireless network due to its burst errors and congestion control. To overcome such problems, we propose a new scheme of the macro handover according to the protocol layer. The proposed macro handover is implemented on the network layer to partially substitute wired signaling for wireless signaling, to flexibly employ buffers, and on the transport layer to postpone its retransmission time. We have performed extensive simulation using ns-2 and the result shows that our proposed scheme outperforms the other existing schemes in terms of transmission delay, packet loss, and data transfer rate during the handovers.

  • This paper aims to implement RAN(Radio Access Network) transmission system that can reduce the transmission cost by installing between mobile base station and base station controller. This system can reduce the number of transmission links by sharing the transmission link that the mobile communication stations of various generation use separately. This also can classify the traffics non-sensitive to delay time, and then transfer them through Ethernet/IP network.

  • We propose an architecture that reduces the power consumption and active area of such a modulator through a reduction in the number of active components and a simplification of the topology. The proposed architecture reduces the power consumption and active area by reducing the number of active components and simplifying the modulator topology. A novel second-order loop filter that uses a single operational amplifier resonator reduces the number of active elements and enhances the controllability of the transfer function. A trapezoidal-shape half-delayed return-to-zero feedback DAC eliminates the loop-delay compensation circuitry and improves pulse-delay sensitivity. These simple features of the modulator allow higher frequency operation and more design flexibility. Implemented in a 130 nm CMOS technology, the prototype modulator occupies an active area of $0.098mm^2$ and consumes 5.23 mW power from a 1.2 V supply. It achieves a dynamic range of 62 dB and a peak SNDR of 60.95 dB over a 15 MHz signal bandwidth with a sampling frequency of 780 MHz. The figure-of-merit of the modulator is 191 fJ/conversion-step.
