Effects of Ionizing Radiation on Plants and the Radiological Protection of the Environment

  • Differences between the principles for the radiological protection of man and the environment are compared. The derived levels of exposure for man and biota recommended by the international agencies with dose rates for chronic radiation producing effects at different levels of biological organization were given in terms of the biological effects. Cytogenetic effects on plants after an exposure to ionizing radiation at low doses alone and in combination with other factors are discussed. A wide range of experimental data were analysed and the general conclusions were extracted to cover the topics such as non-linearity of dose response, synergistic and antagonistic effects of the combined exposure of different factors, radiation-induced genomic instability, and the phenomena of radioadaptation.

  • A conventional variable percentage current differential relaying algorithm for bus protection may misoperate for external faults with severe CT saturation and internal faults with high impedance. This paper proposes a percentage differential current relaying algorithm for bus protection combined with a compensating algorithm of secondary currents of CTs. Even though CTs are saturated and their secondary currents are severely distorted, the proposed relaying algorithm does not only misoperate for external faults with CT saturation but also detects the internal faults with high fault impedance. Thus, the method improves the sensitivity of the relays and does not require any counterplan for CT saturation.

  • We studied on effective quench protection method to prevent damage from unexpected quench of the inductively coupled superconducting magnet systems for magnetic resonance imaging. And we suggested quench protection circuit that is combined with several protection techniques. This circuit has the capacity to maintain the symmetric nature of the magnetic field and the active shielding effect and to protect shim coils during a quench.

  • In this paper, a parametric evaluation method of protection ability is proposed. The adequacy of every parameter is evaluated for the setting rules. Then the results are combined to give protection level of a whole protective system. The setting rules are categorized into three groups for hierarchical calculation. The proposed scheme is applied to a location problem of a new protective device to show its effectiveness.

  • 본 논문에서는 산악지형이 많은 한반도에서 전파의 다중경로 전달 특성을 분석하여 최적의 레이다 운용 사이트를 선정하고 레이다에 발생되는 전파를 효율적으로 관리함으로써 레이다 운용을 적에게 최소로 노출시켜 대방사미사일의 공격을 피하면서 원하는 정보를 충분히 획득하는 전자보호 기술에 대해서 기술하였다. 또한 다중 경로에 의한 전파의 위상 특성을 분석하여 전력밀도의 변화를 분석하였다.

  • The cause of corrosion failure found in structures or various components operating in severe corrosive environment has been attributed to stress corrosion cracking(SCC) which is resulting from the combined effects of corrosive environments and static tensile stress. Cathodic protection is an electrochemical method of corrosion control that is widely used in marine environment and primarily on carbon steel. A number of criteria are used to determine whether or not a structure is cathodically protected. In practice, -0.8V versus Ag/AgCl is the most commonly used for marine structures. This paper showed the combined effects of cathodic potential and slow, monotonic straining on the tensile ductility and fracture morphology of parents and friction welded joints for SM45C, SCM440 and SM20C steels in syntheic sea water(S.S.W.,pH:8.2). For the parent materials in cathodic potentials, the higher tensile strength is, the more susceptible SCC is. And the welded HAZ is more susceptible than the parent materials.

XPS STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF LOW-ENERGY ELECTRON IRRADIATION ON DNA DAMAGE BY Fe3+ ION

  • We have employed X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) technique to examine the combined effects of low-energy electron (LEE) irradiation and $Fe^{3+}$ ion on DNA damage. pBR322 plasmid DNA extracted from E. coli ER2420 was used for preparing DNA-$Fe^{3+}$ sample. The C1s XPS spectra were scanned for LEE-irradiated and LEE-unirradiated samples and then curve-fitted. For the samples with LEE irradiation only or with Fe ion only, no significant changes from pure DNA samples were observed - a single effect of either $Fe^{3+}$ ion or LEE irradiation did not cause a significant damage. However, when these two components were combined, the DNA damage was increased quite significantly, compared to the sum of DNA damages caused by $Fe^{3+}$ ion and by LEE irradiation independently. This observation is consistent with our previous results [Radiat. Res. 177, 775 (2012)] which was done using gel-electrophoresis technique. Partial interpretation of the observed spectrum peaks was also attempted.

  • 본 논문은 지금까지 비특정 개인정보들이 모바일메신저를 통해 아무런 보호 없이 각종 기업들의 자원적 가치를 가진 정보로 수집 및 활용되어왔던 현상을 설명하고, 관련 개인정보법률과 정책, 각 모바일메신저 기업들의 이용약관과 개인정보처리방침을 분석하여 현재 비특정 개인정보 보호정책의 문제점을 밝힌다. 이를 통해 앞으로 비특정 개인정보 활용에 있어 제도적으로는 개인정보 수준의 보호규정 보완을, 기술적으로는 비특정 정보 통합관리시스템 개발을 통한 보완 등을 제안하여 이를 활용 시나리오를 통해 검증함으로써 비특정 개인정보 수집 및 활용에 관한 개선방안을 제시한다.

버킷과 블룸필터를 혼합한 민감한 데이터 보안 (The Secure Algorithm on the Sensitive data using Bloom filter and bucket method)

  • 최근 개인정보 유출 사건과 관련된 사고가 사회적 이슈가 되고 있다. 민감한 개인정보를 암호화하여 데이터를 보호한다면 정보 유출이 확실히 줄어들 것이다. 본 논문에서는 데이터 보호를 위한 기존의 연구 방법을 분석하고, 블룸필터 방식에 버킷을 혼합한 복합적인 방법으로 민감한 정보를 암호화하기 위하여 제안하였다. 가장 많이 사용되는 튜플 암호화 방식에 버킷인덱스 방식을 적용한 방식이다. 이 방식은 버킷정보로 인하여 데이터의 분포가 노출된다는 단점을 가진다. 이러한 버킷인덱스 방식의 데이터 노출 특성을 방지하기 위하여, 본 논문에서는 버킷인덱스와 블룸필터를 적용한 복합적인 암호화방식을 제안한다. 제안된 방식의 특징은 데이터의 노출을 방지할 뿐 아니라 데이터베이스의 검색성능을 향상시킨다.
