Characteristics of New Premier American Fashion Designers' work - Focused on Descendants of Chinese Immigrants - (미국 신진 디자이너의 작품 특성에 관한 연구 - 중국계 디자이너를 중심으로 -)

  • Philp Lim, Alexander Wang and Jason Wu are the American fashion designers as descendants of Chinese immigrants. They had the honor of being given the Swarovski Awards- new premier fashion designer- from CFDA(Council of Fashion Designers of America). The purpose of this study were to investigate the characteristics of their collection, and offered the informations for Korean designers entering the American market. This research categorized characteristics of these designers'- whole characteristics and the characteristics of details such as formal characteristics, optimistic characteristics, tactile characteristics-, and fashion styles from the S/S season of 2009 to the F/W season of 2010 were analyzed. These young and male designers being received attention as a star, didn't make creative art pieces. But they made pragmatic, commercial, and con-temporary works in whole characteristics and succeeded in their fashion business like other American designers. On the other hand they oriented high fashion clearly in terms of the detail characteristics - their own accent color, tiny change in variety, unique material, delicate ornaments. Therefore Lim created chic and stylish, Wang made a sporty street style, Wu made a luxury style with mannish and casual through work characteristics suitable for their costumer.

Vehicle License Plate Extraction and Verification Using Compounded Feature Information and Support Vector Machines (복합 특성 정보와 SVM을 이용한 차량 번호판 추출 및 검증)

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach to detect candidate area of vehicle license plate using compounded color and vertical edge information it's own. Also, we propose a verification course, to compressed image generated by Fast DCT, using SVM to increase accuracy of extracted vechicle license plate area. Proposed method is consider that vehicle's position, become a object of it's license plate recognition, has various angle, scale and include enough environment informations. As a experimental results, proposed method shows a superior performance compared with the case that not includes verification course using SVM.

Toxicity Evaluation of Tar Colors by Water Fleas and Luminescent Bacteria (물벼룩과 형광성 박테리아를 이용한 타르색소의 독성평가)

  • In Korea, we assign the chemical substances of 535 types as toxic substance. Only 10% of the 535 toxic substances are being managed by the Ministry of Environment related with water quality standard. Tar color is also one of chemical substances, but we have the lacks for the information of tar colors about the environmental effects of aquatic ecosystem. This study performed the test of bioassay using Water Fleas and Luminescent Bacteria. The tar has 7 types of colors allowed as the edible color and we evaluate the toxicities of 5 tar colors out of 7 colors and we would like to provide the informations for further study as we perform the toxicity test for the samples of 5 tar colors. We did the toxicity test of using Water Fleas From the results, we obtained the magnitudes of toxicity in order of Red No.2, Yellow No.5, Red No.3, Yellow No.4, Blue No.1. As the result based on Microtox Acute Toxicity Test using Luminescent Bacteria with the standard of 15min-EC50, we obtained in order of Yellow No.5, Food Red No.3, Red No.2, Yellow No.4, Blue No.1. We could expect the tar colors may have different effects on the aquatic ecosystem, respectively and it may influence to the aquatic ecosystem and the human, because of bioconcentration by food chain when toxicity of the tar colors overflow in the aquatic ecosystem.

Quality Improvement in Perilla III. Varietal Differences of Protein Content and Amino Acid Composition in Perilla (들깨의 성분개량 연구 III. 들깨 품종의 단백질 함량과 아미노산 조성)

  • Korean local collected strains of perilla were analyzed on their protein and amino-acid contents in the seed. The strains analyzed were 80 of which grown in the experimental field of Crop Experiment Station at Suwon in 1991. This experiment was performed to obtain the basic informations on the varietal differences of protein and amino-acid contents and further applied in the breeding project for quality improvement of perilla. The seed protein contents of 80 perilla varieties ranged from 17.9% to 24.6% and the average content was 24.6%. There were no differences in protein contents according to the maturity and 1,000 seed weight, but differed by the seed coat color showing 1.4% higher content in light gray than that of drak brown, which may suggest that the seed coat color could be used as a marker gene for breeding high protein varieties. While the total essential amino-acid contents of collected perilla ranged from 36.41% to 44.85%, the mean of 40.55%, the non-essential amino-acid contents was 47.23%~60.01% with the mean of 55.29%. Moreover, there was high positive correlation between the essential amino-acid contents and seed coat color. The essential amino-acids of perilla has an exceptionally high content of arginine, leucine, but methionine indeed being almost marginal. Of the essential amino-acids, lysine, methionine and valine were contained higher compared with the FAO recommendation level.

Variation of Contents and Color Difference of Anthocyanin by Different Cultivation Year in Black Soybean Seed (재배연도에 따른 검정콩 종자의 안토시아닌 함량 및 색차변이)

  • This research was carried out to offer the basic informations about new varietal breeding for specific use and physiological characteristics through investigation of detection, content variation and color difference of anthocyanin individual pigments within seed coats in domestic black soybean. The seed of thirteen cultivars such as Geomjeongkong 1, Geomjeongkong 2, Seonheugkong, Tawonkong, Ilpumgeomjeongkong, Geomjeongolkong, Cheongjakong, Jinju 1, Heugcheongkong, Juinunikong-Y, Juinunikong-G, Geomjeongkong 3, Geomjeongkong 4 was tested. C3G (cyanidin-3-glucoside) was detected in only Geomjeongkong 1 and Seonheugkong but D3G (delphinidin-3-glucoside) and C3G were found in Heugcheongkong. The rest cultivars that there were three anthocyanins such as D3G, C3G, and Pt3G (petunidin-3-glucoside). Anthocyanin content of tested cultivars showed a high variation. The ranges of D3G, C3G, Pt3G, and TA (total anthocyanin) contents were $0.55\~2.63mg/g,\;2.77\~8.38mg/g,\;0.38\~5.65mg/g,\;and\;3.32\~16.92mg/g$, respectively. These contents showed variation among cultivars as well as variation between two years, 2001-2002. As a result of variation of anthocyanin color difference, the ranges of L (lightness), a (redness), and b (yellowness) as Hunter's value were $34.09\~42.89,\;12.77\!22.85,\;and\;5.36\~12.10$, respectively, and these color differences showed variation among cultivars and also variation between two years, 2001-2002. D3G, C3G, Pt3G, and TA showed reciprocally a positive correlation being representive of high significance.

A Study on the Effect of Accelerated UV Exposure on the Polymer Membrane for Outdoor Users (옥외용 고분자 막의 촉진 자외선 노출 영향 연구)

  • Polymeric membranes have been used in various applications and generally applied to the systems prevented from exterior exposure. However, polymer membranes for outdoor usages such as, an air quality monitoring and membrane reservoirs for the selective recovery of useful metals from seawater, have been newly developed. Thus it is required to investigate the properties of the membrane for the outdoor use and also studies of the accelerated UV exposure onto the polymeric membranes are essential to estimate their weatherability. Herein, we report on the thermal and mechanical properties, morphology changes, and color differences of the polysulfone anisotropic membranes and non-woven type polypropylene membranes with the accelerated UV exposure. Results showed that the effect of UV exposure on the membrane depend not only on the polymer used but also on the form of the membrane. This work can provide some of key informations of the membrane for outdoor use.

Development of Novel Diagnostic Testing Strips for Measuring Leukocyte Levels in Urine (요 중 백혈구를 측정하기 위한 새로운 진단 시험지 개발에 관한 연구)

  • A number of leukocytes increases when infected by a germ or virus. Detection of leukocyte levels can indicate of such medical informations as urogenital tract infection or other dysfunction. In this study, pentyl-3-thiophene-carboxlyate (PTC), pentyl-8-quinolinecarboxylate (PQC), and 2-Phenyl-4(N-tosyl-alanyloxyl)-thiazole (PTT) were synthesized, and the test strips were prepared with these substrates for quantifying leukocytes in urine. Among these substrates, the PTT test strip prepared in 0.5% borate buffer pH 8.0, 0.03% PTT, 0.1-0.8% PVP, and 1% decanol showed not only better color reaction but also an excellent application possibility to be used in automatic urine analyzer.

Development and Evaluation of System for 3D Visualization Model of Biological Objects (3차원 생물체 가시화 모델 구축장치 개발 및 성능평가)

  • Nondestructive methods such as ultrasonic and magnetic resonance imaging systems have many advantages but still much expensive. And they do not give exact color information and may miss some details. If it is allowed to destruct a biological object to obtain interior and exterior informations, 3D image visualization model from a series of sliced sectional images gives more useful information with relatively low cost. In this paper, a PC based automatic 3D visualization system is presented. The system is composed of three modules. The first module is the handling and image acquisition module. The handling module feeds and slices a cylindrical shape paraffin, which holds a biological object inside the paraffin. And the paraffin is kept being solid by cooling while being handled. The image acquisition modulo captures the sectional image of the object merged into the paraffin consecutively. The second one is the system control and interface module, which controls actuators for feeding, slicing, and image capturing. And the last one is the image processing and visualization module, which processes a series of acquired sectional images and generates a 3D volumetric model. To verify the condition for the uniform slicing, normal directional forces of the cutting edge according to the various cutting angles were measured using a strain gauge and the amount of the sliced chips were weighed and analyzed. Once the 3D model was constructed on the computer, user could manipulate it with various transformation methods such as translation, rotation, and scaling including arbitrary sectional view.

  • Recently many informations are transmitted ,md stored as video data, and they are on the rapid increase because of popularization of high performance computer and internet. In this paper, to retrieve video data, shots are found through analysis of video stream and the method of detection of key frame is studied. Finally users can retrieve the video efficiently. This Paper suggests a new feature that is robust to object movement in a shot and is not sensitive to change of color in boundary detection of shots, and proposes the characterizing value that reflects the characteristic of kind of video (movie, drama, news, music video etc,). The key frames are pulled out from many frames by using the local minima and maxima of differential of the value. After original frame(not de image) are reconstructed for key frame, indexing process is performed through computing parameters. Key frames that arc similar to user's query image arc retrieved through computing parameters. It is proved that the proposed methods are better than conventional method from experiments. The retrieval accuracy rate is so high in experiments.

  • Digitalized Image Information is variously used like to substitute or help human's visual ability. Unmanned observation Camera is useful for the preventing disaster, risk factor and object observation but it is mostly to depend on awareness for human's vision. The purpose of this paper is to show that Unmanned Aerial Camera carries out object recognition and autonomous position tracking. when the informations about a specific object are given. For this purpose, we have to solve complicated problems like change according to object movement and variation of color and brightness information with refraction, interference and scattering of light and noise from environmental factors like weather. But, as the first step we limit the scope of this study with simplified environment in this paper. Our goal is the study and experience about object recognition and tracking via simplified environment with unmanned aerial camera. We obtained successful results of this study and experiment.
