The purpose of the study is to shed light on the relation between a film and the clothing color by exploring the symbolic meaning of costume colors as based on place images and as reflected in characters' internal psychological states and situations. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, the colors primarily presented were neutral shades of black and white or dark, almost-black tones, representing the negative narrative structure and depicting the image of a human being. Second, a series of bright blue shades were presented to reflect the positive narrative structure of a human being returning successfully to reality. Third, the application of color, involving both the psychological aspect as well as the symbolism of color, was effectively delivered to the audience. Fourth, the emphasis on color in the smallest details of costumes was analyzed, and it was found that symbolic color effectively communicated the whole image of transformation as the story progressed, clearly delivered delicate emotional messages, and contained symbolism relating to particular places and situations.

  • As the traditional style is treated as one of the important themes in fashion recently, how to apply the formative character in Korean and Japanese traditional dress to modern fashion is searched through actual analysis of photograph material, Both design formative elements were confirmed by clothing and fashion department majors through visual data so that 20 pieces of them were selected as final analysis object. Korean traditional dress form in modern fashion emphasizes curvaceousness as plane division. On the other hand, that of Japanese shows straight line, layered, belt, big look through up & down connection style. Color in Korean traditional dress prefers white and original color and modern fashion displays the natural beauty through harmony of similar colors ; that of Japanese based on natural color such as persimmon color cherishes natural beauty and implicit moderation showing harmony of various original color with brilliance and neutral color. While texture in Korean traditional dress was fine and exquisite, that of Japanese preferred coarse and tactile ones. In motif, Korea was natural and geometric but Japanese variously used complex and geometric ones. Likewise, the result suggests that the formative character in Korean and Japanese modern fashion affects the modern dress format as new aesthetic sense and takes on more complicated and subtle aspect in basic form, not just use so far.

Its characteristics were a sense of security, three-dimensional effect, and balance. It was the most suitable framework fur the mannequins and toruso. Second, a color scheme for commodities was all no-coloring scheme in each four seasons. The color of background was mostly white which harmonized well with the colors of commodities and lights. The plan for the color scheme of window display should always executed on the commodities, and the colors should be harmonized to produce the best display effect. Moreover, when commodities had two colors, the color of background should be in one simple color that manifest the commodities, or that is secondary color to the main color of commodities. Third, all department stores used all same illumination. Lack of illumination, management, and expense incured ineffective production of the display. Fourth, mostly, real mannequins with white or skin colors were used, and the toruso was next used in department stores. The set was limited because many companies had not made new sets for the display. Therefore, new sets including mannequins should be actively developed to produce effective display.
