Emergent Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS's) are beginning to assist drivers by performing specific tasks and extending the limits of driver's perception. As CAS's evolve from simple systems handling discrete tasks to complex systems managing interrelated driving tasks, the risk of failure from hidden causes greatly increases. The successful implementation of such a complex system depends upon a robust software architecture. Host of the difficulty in implementing system arises from interconnections between the components. The CAS architecture presented in this paper focuses on these interconnections to mitigate this problem. Moreover, by constructing the GAS architecture through the composition of existing architectural styles, the resulting system will exhibit predictable qualities. Some of the qualities represent limitations that translate into constraints on the system. Others are beneficial aspects that satisfy stakeholder requirements .

The purpose of this study is for Human error prevention to acquire Collision Risk Perception Index (CRPI) sensed by the Officer Of the Watch (OOW) when the approaching distances are reduced in six types of ship encountering situations (Head on, $045^{\circ}$, $090^{\circ}$, $135^{\circ}$, Overtaking, Overtaken) between own ship and a target ship and then to predict CRPI fitting coefficients with polynomials in the curve-fitting process. CRPI acquisition experiments are carried out on two coast-guard ships and with the total of 30 crew members. Analysing results shows that CRPI data have goodness of fit to the six types of encountering situation. Futhermore, the One-Way ANOVA results show that CRPI has a negative affect to the OOW's age, career and license grade as the approaching distances is reduced. The availability of CRPI curve fitting with 3 degrees of polynomial was testified through the RMSE as 1.19 to Head on, 0.87 to $045^{\circ}$, 0.81 to $090^{\circ}$, 0.71 to $135^{\circ}$, 1.29 to Overtaking and 0.87 to Overtaken.

This paper presents a lateral collision risk index between an ego vehicle and a rear-side vehicle. The lateral collision risk is designed to represent a lateral collision risk and provide the appropriate threshold value of activation of the lateral collision management system such as the Blind Spot Detection(BSD). The lateral collision risk index is designed using the Time to Line Crossing(TLC) and the longitudinal collision index at the predicted TLC. TLC and the longitudinal collision index are calculated with the signals from the exterior sensor such as the radar equipped on the rear-side of a vehicle and a vision sensor which detects the distance and time to the lane departure. For the robust situation assessment, the perception of driving environment determining whether the road is straighten or curved should be determined. The relative motion estimation method has been proposed with the road information via the integrated estimator using the environment sensors and vehicle sensor. A lateral collision risk index was composed with the estimated relative motion considering the relative yaw angle. The performance of the proposed lateral collision risk index is investigated via computer simulations conducted using the vehicle dynamics software CARSIM and Matlab/Simulink.

After many years of proliferation, the nuclear industry is indebted for a formidable consequence, the safe management of spent fuel. Naturally, the high radioactivity involved with such process motivates the development of effective telerobotic systems. Nevertheless, the existing master-slave type of tele manipulators are limited in effectiveness by the human operator's limited sensory and manipulation capabilities. This paper presents the result of a research effort to resolve such problems by assigning the slave manipulator a certain degree of intelligence; sensing and actuation. In the presented system, a perception-action loop is achieved using ultrasonic range sensor and laser distance sensor interfaced with the PUMA 760 industrial robot system, and applied to automating impact wrenching task for unbolting the lid of nuclear spent fuel cask. The perception-action loop performs determination of the cask location, collision avoidance and centering of the impact wrench onto the bolt head. To aid the insertion task and to provide versatility a mounting module consisting of an RCC device and an automatic tool changer is designed and implemented. The performance of the developed system is tested on the model cask and the result is given.
The number of automobiles is rapidly increasing , as are the importance of the car as a way of transportation, and the variety of its uses. In these surroundings, a safety, one of the primary factors which must be considered in automotive engineering, demands a system that aids the driver's vision and perception. In this point of view, development of the more promoted system that complement the existing passive method which relies on just man's ability is the important issue of the advanced traffic system including ITS. In this paper, we provide an algorithm and implementation of a control system that warns the collisions ahead and avoids this situation, using informations about the host-car, target-car and surroundings. The warning is made by an algorithm that decides the degree of safely. With this degree of safely, the controller automatically controls a vehicle's speed to a proper level.
Although it is expected to provide fundamental data for advanced VTS system by analyzing traffic accidents in VTS area, there is no quantitative analysis to find it.. In this research, it is examined and analyzed marine casualties records(1999-2004), data of Port-MIS and data of each VTS center. The results of this research are as below. 1) It is necessary to reduce traffic accident and to improve VTS operating system. 2) It is discovered for statistical discrepancy between vessels controlled by VTS and vessels not controlled by VTS in accident cause, visibility, perception distance and cause of late perception in collision accidents 3) It is necessary for VTS assistance to be positive and to made in ample time consecutively. 4) As the result of traffic accident prediction model, it is necessary to develop a system improving VTS operators' ability to identify dangerous ships.
This paper presents a robust autonomous navigation and reconnaissance system for tracked robots, designed to handle complex multi-floor indoor environments with stairs. We introduce a localization algorithm that adjusts scan matching parameters to robustly estimate positions and create maps in environments with scarce features, such as narrow rooms and staircases. Our system also features a path planning algorithm that calculates distance costs from surrounding obstacles, integrated with a specialized PID controller tuned to the robot's differential kinematics for collision-free navigation in confined spaces. The perception module leverages multi-image fusion and camera-LiDAR fusion to accurately detect and map the 3D positions of objects around the robot in real time. Through practical tests in real settings, we have verified that our system performs reliably. Based on this reliability, we expect that our research team's autonomous reconnaissance system will be practically utilized in actual disaster situations and environments that are difficult for humans to access, thereby making a significant contribution.

This paper concerns 3-D graphical modeling and simulation techniques for design and control of automated equipment for construction and facility maintenance. A case study on the use of 3-D graphics techniques for developing a power plant maintenance robot is presented. By simulating equipment operation within the 3-D geometry models of the work environment the environment design was improved. The 3-D graphical models of the equipment and the work environment were further utilized for the control of the robot from a remote distance. By presenting the real-time updated equipment configuration and the work environment to the operator, the graphical model-based equipment control system helped the operator overcome the problems associated with spatial perception. The collision between the robot and the plant structures was also avoided based the real-time analysis of the dynamically updated graphical models.
