Purpose: Dyslipidemia is one of the most important cardiovascular risk factors. The purpose of this study was to compare serum lipid levels in college students and pre-graduates. Methods: Data were obtained from student health examination in one university located in Kyunggi-province. Participants were 440 college students and 1973 pre-graduates. The data were collected in May of 2010. T-test, Chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, and multiple regression with dummy variables using SAS version 9.1 were performed. Results: Pre-graduates showed significantly higher level of total cholesterol, triglyceride, and LDL than college students. There was no significant difference in alcohol drinking between college students and pre-graduates. However, smoking and diet behavior were significantly different; pre-graduates were more likely being current smoker and recommended to change diet behavior. When adjusting covariates including general and behavioral characteristic, pre-graduates had significantly higher total cholesterol (p<.001), triglyceride (p=.003), and LDL (p=.003). Among covariates, smoking was significantly related to triglyceride, particularly past smokers. Conclusion: There is a need to develop a lipid-reducing program targeting pre-graduates. This program should be considered behavioral factors, particularly smoking. In addition, given the fact that pre-graduates had unhealthy habits compared with college students, interventions for correcting health behaviors in this population are required.
This paper examines the changes in relative wage of top 10 college graduates to the other college graduates among the age group of 26-28 years using Korean Labor and Income Panel Study (KLIPS). From 1999 to 2008, the wage differential between top 10 college graduates and the other college graduates increased in South Korea. This wage differential seems to persist along with their age. Within industry wage differential among college graduates also rose but in the late 2000s it became smaller than the wage differential within firm size and industry. Increase in elite college wage premium has led to recent changes in college wage premium.

Fifteen years have passed since the enactment of the Industrial Technology Innovation Promotion Act, which promoted industry cooperation activities for universities. Therefore, the study analyzes the relationship between the university's industrial cooperation activities and the college graduates' starting salaries and provides policy suggestions on improving the direction of university-industry cooperation. The study used nine-year panel data from Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey (GOMS) to conduct an empirical analysis and found that starting salaries of college graduates were not significantly higher if the university only participated in basic industry cooperation activities. On the other hand, when the quality of university-industry cooperation activities was higher, such as job search support, the starting salary of college graduates was higher. The findings suggest that university-industry cooperation activities must focus on qualitative performances rather than quantitative approaches.

The purpose of this study was to suggest the direction of university employment support through analysis of employment success factors for young college graduates and comparison of determining factors in metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas. For this purpose, the factors were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 statistical package binary logistic regression analysis using the 2019 'College Graduate Occupational Movement Path Survey' data provided by the Korea Employment Information Service. As a result of the study, among the personal characteristics of college graduates in Seoul and the metropolitan area, age, parental assets, and language training experience were (+) factors for employment success, and in terms of college characteristics, 2-3 year college graduates were more likely to succeed in employment than 4-year college graduates or education college graduates. In addition, among the personal characteristics of college graduates from non-metropolitan areas, age and parental assets were (+) factors in employment success, and 2-3 year college graduates were more likely to succeed in employment than 4-year college graduates.
Background: This study aims to determine whether the new 6-year pharmacy curriculum is designed to help students in their career path based on the employment status of the current 2+4 pharmacy school graduates. Methods: An online survey was conducted to the pharmacists who graduated from Woosuk University College of Pharmacy between 2015 and 2021. The survey questions included the current employment status of the graduates and their feedback on the clinical pharmacy curriculum at Woosuk University. Results: There were a total of 104 graduates who responded to the survey out of 312 graduates of whom the school had current contact information. Most of the graduates are currently working in a community pharmacy (63.5%), followed by hospital pharmacy (27.9%) and pharmaceutical industry (4.8%). Although most graduates were satisfied with clinical pharmacy courses at our college, many thought there needs to be a reinforcement or improvement in the curriculum, including pharmacotherapy and pharmacy practice experiences as well as social pharmacy courses. Conclusion: Based on our study, clinical and social pharmacy are the courses that teach the knowledge and skills required in community and hospital pharmacy and yet, are most in need of improvement. As most graduates work in a community or hospital pharmacy, it is necessary to improve our pharmacy curriculum so that they can learn and demonstrate their clinical skills effectively.
This paper examines the differences between the subsequent careers of high school and college graduate workers based on a direct role of college graduation with regard to the revelation of workers' individual abilities. Using NLSY79, we document a positive relationship between off-the-job training/performance-pay jobs and ability for high school graduates at the early stages of their careers. However, this relationship is less prominent for college graduates. Moreover, we show that high ability is associated with more jobs, which reflects higher job mobility, only for high school graduates. We argue that these patterns are the result of productivity-revealing behavior of high school graduates, whose individual abilities, unlike college graduates, is not observed precisely at the beginning of their careers.
This study intends to analyze outcomes in labor market of students who graduated from provincial colleges. And For this aim, this study used 'Youth Panel Data' (2001, 2002) of HRD Korea Work Information Center. The reference groups are students who graduated from capital region colleges. The main results of this study are as follows. Students who graduated from provincial colleges have difficulty in acquiring job information than capital region college graduates. And students who graduated from provincial colleges get first job in smaller firm than capital region college graduates. The monthly wage level of students who graduated from provincial colleges is less than that of capital region college graduates. And the outcomes in labor market of students who graduated from Chungcheong region colleges are better than those of students who graduated from Yeongnam region and Honam region colleges. As results of this study show, there are differences between provincial college graduates and capital region college graduates. And there are differences between Chungcheong region college graduates and another region (namely, Yeongnam region and Honam region) college graduates.

Evaluating the effectiveness of educational programs involves measuring learning processes as well as outcomes. It is essential to study cohorts of students and graduates to evaluate the long-term effects of educational programs with data generated both during education and after graduation. The purpose of this study was to establish cohorts of students and graduates to evaluate their performance, thereby providing a basis for evaluating the social accountability of medical education. In this study, student and graduate cohorts were built for both students currently enrolled and graduates at Inje University College of Medicine (IUCM). A model involving the process of cohort establishment and an evaluation indicator framework was developed. In the process of cohort establishment, the following steps were conducted: defining the goals and objectives of the student and graduate cohorts, organizing a cohort committee, developing regulations, registering cohorts, acquiring consent, and building a database. A framework of evaluation indicators according to the graduate roles of IUCM was developed by adapting Kirkpatrick's evaluation model. Next, items to be collected in student and graduate cohorts were selected, and the current status of existing data was analyzed. Moreover, a preliminary analysis was conducted, including analyses of the evaluation indicators and graduates' performance. This study suggests that it is necessary to include additional evaluation indicators considering students' learning environment and well-being in student cohorts and to develop strategies or methods for graduates to continue participating in data collection for a long-term study.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that determine whether college graduates majoring in culinary arts are employed. To achieve this purpose, this study largely divided the factors affecting the status of employment into the personal background, college life, and employment preparation activities factors. And, the data of 164 graduates who graduated from culinary arts-related departments participating in the Graduate Occupational Mobility Survey (GOMS) were used. The analysis results are summarized as follows. First, it was found that the health status and experience of job-seeking activities of college graduates majoring in culinary arts decreased the employment probability. On the other hand, major satisfaction and certification acquisition were found to increase the employment probability. Second, the health status and experience of job-seeking activities of graduates who participated in 2018GOMS were found to decrease the employment probability, and major satisfaction and grade were found to increase the employment probability. Third, it was found that only the health status of graduates who participated in 2019GOMS affected the status of employment. Therefore, in order to increase the employment rate of culinary arts majors at the end of COVID 19, universities need to make efforts to increase their satisfaction with their majors and their grades while attending college.
