Pongamia (Pongamia pinnata L.) as a source of non-edible oil, is potential tree species for biodiesel production. For several reasons, both technical and economical, the potential of P. pinnata is far from being realized. The exploitation of genetic diversity for crop improvement has been the major driving force for the exploration and ex situ/in situ conservation of plant genetic resources. However, P. pinnata improvement for high oil and seed production is not achieved because of unsystematic way of tree improvement. Performance of P. pinnata planted by Karnataka Forest Department was assessed based on yield potential by collecting 157 clones out of 264 clones established by Karnataka Forest Department research wing under different research circles/ranges. It was evident that the all the seed and pod traits were significantly different. Further, selection of superior germplasm based on oil and pod/seed parameters was achieved by application of Mahalanobis statistics and Tocher's technique. On the basis of D2 values for all possible 253 pairs of populations the 157 genotypes were grouped into 28 clusters. The clustering pattern showed that geographical diversity is not necessarily related to genetic diversity. Cluster means indicated a wide range of variation for all the pod and seed traits. The best cluster having total oil content of more than 34.9% with 100 seed weight of above 125 g viz. Cluster I, II, III, IX, XV, XIX, XXI, XXIII, XXVI and XXVII were selected for clonal propagation.
Korean angelica(Angelica gigas Nakai), a oriental medicinal plants is important and in great demand in Korea. This crop is a biennial which is to die after flower, so as could not harvest the root. A new variety 'Anpung' was developed from the selection of the local collecting population by medicinal crop team at NCES in 2001. This showed stable bolting during its cropping year and have high quality and yield potential. The color is greenish purple in stem and red purple in flower. It was longer in plant height and root length, thicker in root diameter, more leave and latheral roots comparing with the check variety 'Manchu'. The dry root was 72 g/plant showing heavier than check variety of 65 g/plant. It showed such low bolting rate as 0.5%, on the other hand 49.3% in landrace when it cultured by transplanting with heating nursery seedlings, and $0{\sim}15%$ with field nursery seedlings. The dry root yield of the variety was averaged 3,630 kg/ha out yielding the check variety by 11% at the three regional yield test from 1999 to 2001. Finally, 'Anpung' showed higher content of extracts up to 46.3% in 'Anpung' and 45% in check variety, decursin and decursinol contents was 3.48% and 2.79%, showing slightly higher than check variety.

This paper dealt with contents of the quality evaluation method of lattice girder utilizing non-destructive method. Quality evaluation of ordinary lattice girder is performed through the tensile strength test of structural steel and visual inspection. The tensile strength test of structural steel is performed by collecting samples of lattice girder brought into the site, during which lattice girder must be damaged to obtain sample. In addition to such disadvantage, tensile strength tester is not available at the site in most cases, requiring an inconvenient service from test certification agency. In addition, it is substituted by mile sheet issued during the production of structural steel, which inevitably lacks reliability. Furthermore, visual inspection at the site entails a problem of lack of reliability, thereby requiring a method of easily and quickly evaluating the quality of lattice girder without damaging the material. Accordingly, this study comparatively analyzed the yield strength of tensile strength test and the yield strength of instrumented indentation test with same sample. The test results ensured over 95% precision level for the instrumented indentation test, based on which a quality evaluation method based on instrumented indentation test that allowed onsite direct quality evaluation is proposed.

Nitrogen content of liquid manures varies from $3g\;kg^{-1}\;to\;7g\;kg^{-1}$ according to the collecting seasons. The application effects of liquid manure on the yield of rice are the best in LPM+LPM treatment, although the lodging of crops increased and the quality of rice is deteriorated. When application with LPM+CF treatment and CF+LPM treatment showed no difference in rice yield and quality, compared with CE+CF treatment. Therefore, use of liquid manure on farmland should be limited as once per year during cultivation duration and liquid manure is fully fermented during 6 months at least in order to decrease the damage of crops by application of unmatured liquid manure. Also, application amount of liquid manure should be carefully determined by considering the mineral (especially nitrogen) contents of liquid manure and the recommended fertilizer levels for various crops.

To secure raw materials of biodiesel production, the possibility of camellia (C. japonica L.) and tea (C. sinensis L.) seed oil was studied to produce biodiesel. In this research, crude oil contents and fatty acid compositions of seeds were analyzed by Solxlet and Gas chromatography (GC). The oil contents in the seeds of camellia were 69.8%~73.8%, and tea were 26.3%~29.4%. Among the fatty acids of camellia and tea oil, oleic acid was dominant. The unsaturated fatty acids accounted for 88.4% and 80.2% of the whole fatty acids of camellia and tea seed oil. Total seed oil content and fatty acid composition of tea seed were influenced by collecting date. Across maturation period, oil content of tea seed averaged 18.3% on $6^{th}$ September increasing to 27.9% by $11^{th}$ October. For largest seed yield and oil content, the optimum time to harvest tea is in middle october, and camellia is late september and thereafter. The extraction efficiency of oil from seeds by extraction methods was determined. Biodiesel were synthesized in 92.1~92.8% yields from camellia and tea oils by transesterification. The biodiesel was characterized by its physical and fuel properties including oxidation stability, iodine value and cold filter plugging point (CFPP). Oxidation stability of camellia was 8.6~8.8 hours and tea was 2.9~3.6 at $110^{\circ}C$. Camellia oil had considerably better oxidation stability and CFPP than tea oil.
The use of a built-up H-beam (BH) that can easily manufacture a section is increasing. This is a basic study on standardization of BH. It confirmed the material properties of SM490 and SM520 steel such as yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, charpy absorbed energy, and else. The six BH specimens were manufactured with single-SAW or tandem-SAW. The welding performance was confirmed by collecting the macroscopic specimen and T-bar tensile specimen form the BH. As a result of the material property test, the properties of SM490 and SM520 which are made in Korea both satisfied the KS. As a result of the welding performance experiment, it is determined that the weld zone of BH has sufficient welding performance. Therefore, they are determined that the SM490 and SM520 steel are a proper material of BH, and the single-SAW and the tandem-SAW show a sufficient welding performance.
Rockfall monitoring systems generally used in the country are mainly based on the detection of tension of protection wire or tilting of protection post due to rock fall. However, rock fall protection net must be installed prior to the monitoring system and continual maintenance work after each rock fall event is required for a normal operation of these detection systems. To solve these problems, we suggested and implemented a non-contact rock fall detection system using multiple photo sensors and additional camera. After a laboratory experiment and field application, we can conclude that this system is effective and reliable for detecting, collecting and analyzing the rock fall information. In addition, lighten and difference operations on two captured images were able to yield rough estimation of size and direction of rock fall.
The number of subscribers in 4th generation mobile system has been increased rapidly. Along with that, preserving subscribers' privacy has become a hot issue. To prevent users' location from being revealed publicly is important more than ever. In this paper, we first show that the privacy-related problem exists in user authentication procedure in 4th generation mobile system, especially LTE. Then, we suggest an attack model which allows an adversary to trace a user, i.e. he has an ability to determine whether the user is in his observation area. Such collecting subscribers' location by an unauthorized third party may yield severe privacy problem. To keep users' privacy intact, we propose a modified authentication protocol in LTE. Our scheme has low computational overhead and strong secrecy so that both the security and efficiency are achieved. Finally, we prove that our scheme is secure by using the automatic verification tool ProVerif.
This study investigates the relationship between smoking and periodontal disease through quantitative analysis of intra-buccal oral pathogenic bacteria detected in smokers and aims to yield objective baseline data for applications in anti-smoking and dental health education programs. From April to May 2016, participants in an oral health management program within an intensive dental hygiene training course at Choonhae College of Health Sciences received an explanation of the study purposes and methods, after which male smokers aged 18~30 years agreed to participate voluntarily. Real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis of oral pathogenic bacteria was performed after collecting gingival sulcus fluid samples from 67 smokers. The intra-buccal oral pathogenic bacteria distributions were analyzed based on the subjects' general characteristics, smoking behaviors, and oral care behaviors. The distribution results show that pathogens in the anterior teeth are affected (in this order) by age, toothbrush size, and smoking status; older people had fewer pathogens, those who used larger toothbrushes had more pathogens, and smokers had more pathogens, compared to non-smokers ($_{adj}R^2=19.1$). In the posterior teeth, pathogens were influenced (in this order) by smoking status, smoking duration, and the number of tooth brushings per day; smokers had more pathogens than non-smokers, and those who brushed their teeth more often had fewer pathogens ($_{adj}R^2=25.1$). The overall pathogen distribution was affected only by smoking status: smokers generally had more pathogens, compared to non-smokers. Therefore, it is necessary to provide information about the risk of periodontal disease due to smoking during anti-smoking or dental health education sessions; particularly, the use of smaller toothbrushes for anterior teeth and the need for smokers in their early twenties to quit smoking for dental health should be highly emphasized.

In this study we have developed a hyperspectrum imaging system for highly sensitive and effective imaging analysis. An optical setup was designed using acoustic optical tunable filter (AOTF) for high sensitive hyperspectrum imaging. Light emitted by mercury lamp gets split in to diffracted and undiffracted beams while passing though AOTF. GFP transfected HEK-293 cell line was used as a model for in vitro imaging analysis. Cells were first, analyzed by fluorescence microscope followed by flow cytometric analysis. Flow cytometric analysis showed 66.31% transfection yield in GFP transfected HEK-293 cells. Various images of GFP transfected HEK-293 cell were grabbed by collecting the diffracted light using a CCD over a dynamic range of frequency of 129-171 MHz with an interval of 3 MHz. Subsequently, for in vivo image analysis of GFP transfected cells in mouse, a whole-body-imaging system was constructed. The blue light of 488 nm wavelength was obtained from a Xenon arc lamp using an appropriate filter and transmitted through an optical cable to a ring illuminator. To check the efficacy of the newly developed whole-body-imaging system, a comparative imaging analysis was performed on a normal mouse in presence and absence of Xenon arc irradiation. The developed hyperspectrum imaging analysis with AOTF showed the highest intensity of green fluorescent protein at 153 MHz of frequency and 494 nm of wavelength. However, the fluorescence intensity remained same as that of the background below 138 MHz (475 nm) and above 162 MHz (532 nm). The mouse images captured using the constructed whole-body-imaging system appeared monochromatic in absence of Xenon arc irradiation and blue when irradiated with Xenon arc lamp. Nevertheless, in either case mouse images appeared clearly.
