  • This paper presents a technique to generate road surface profiles in a spatial domain using a power spectral density function. A single track power spectral density function is proposed to describe a road surface profile, which is also applicable for multi-track vehicle response analysis. The roads in lateral direction makes the relation between the coherence of the lateral tracks. The derived road surfaces are compared to ISO(International Organization for Standardization) standards. Generated road profiles are in good agreements with the target road PSD shape and measured coherence relation.

  • The reactionary responses to control human standing dynamics were estimated under the assumption that postural complexity mainly occurs in the mid-sagittal plane. During the experiment, the subject was exposed to continuous horizontal perturbation. The ankle and hip joint rotations of the subject mainly contributed to maintaining standing postural control. The designed mobile platform generated anterior/posterior (AP) motion. Non-predictive random translation was used as input for the system. The mean acceleration generated by the platform was measured as $0.44m/s^2$. The measured data were analyzed in the frequency domain by the coherence function and the frequency response function to estimate its dynamic responses. The significant correlation found between the input and output of the postural control system. The frequency response function revealed prominent resonant peaks within its frequency spectrum and magnitude. Subjects behaved as a non-rigid two link inverted pendulum. The analyzed data are consistent with the outcome hypothesized for this study.

  • Various approaches for sound source segregation have been proposed. Among these approaches, frequency domain binaural model(FDBM) has the advantages of low computational load and effective howling cancellation. A binaural hearing assistance system based on FDBM has been proposed. This system can enhance desired signal based on the directivity information. Although FDBM has been evaluated in terms of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and coherence function, the evaluation results do not always agree with the human impressions. These evaluation methods provide physical measures, and do not take account of perceptual aspect of human being. Considering a binaural hearing assistance system as a one of major applications, the quality of segregated sound should keep level enough. In the paper, signal segregation performance by means of FDBM is evaluated by three objective methods, i.e., SNR, coherence and Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality(PESQ), to discuss the characteristic of FDBM on the sound source segregation performance. The simulation's evaluation results show that FDBM improves the quality of the left and right channel signals to an equivalent level. And the results suggest the possibility that PESQ provides a more useful measure than SNR and coherence in terms of the segregation performance of FDBM. The evaluation results by PESQ show the effects from segregation parameters and indicate appropriate parameters under the conditions. • Recently, customers interest about noise of household electric appliance is growing. so, designer of product must study to reduce noise of product. Specially, in case of household electric appliance such as washing machine, there was consumers' complaint about noise that is radiated under dehydrating condition. But, in the case of washing machine, identification of noise source is not easy when washing machine is under dehydrating condition. Because various noise source influence each other, it is difficult to find out pure contribution degree about output noise. Multi-Dimensional Spectral Analysis(MDSA) is method that can remove correlation between inputs each other and express pure contribution degree about output of single input. So in this study, we analyzed contribution of each noise source on transfer pass of noise that is radiated at dehydration of washing machine using MDSA.

  • Jamming countermeasures are used to decrease or prevent the impact of intentional jamming applied to degrade the quality of information provided by a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver. The maximum performance of jamming countermeasure can be obtained only when a proper technique is applied according to the type of jammer. This paper suggests a jamming identification technique for providing information regarding the type of jamming. The center frequency and bandwidth of jammer signal are inconsistent and may change according to time, and thus a spectral correlation function and wavelet coherence were considered in order to analyze the signal in the time and frequency space. Because the two characteristics derive different analysis results, two different identification techniques were suggested and the performances thereof were analyzed. Numerical results show that the two identification techniques have relative advantages and disadvantages as to time consumed and performance. The suggested methods can sufficiently identify the jammer before the GNSS receiver becomes inoperable because of jamming.

  • Recently, customers have been concerned about vehicle NVH depending on vehicle designing and manufacturing technologies development. In choosing vehicle, vehicle NVH is becoming the most important factor to customers. Especially, a seat is the final stage of vibration transfer path to passengers from all sources of vibration like engine, transmission and etc. And seat is the nearest component from driver's ear. For this reason, seat is the most important component that directly related to ride comfort for passengers. And driver can be influenced sensitively by BSR caused by seat. Thus, evaluating the vibration characteristics of vehicle seat and BSR caused by vehicle seat is necessary to reduce the seat BSR. The rattle noise occurred from seat has evaluated through sound source visualization and multi-dimensional spectral analysis - coherence function technique in this paper. Vibration characteristics of the seat has verified through modal test.

  • Recently, there has been a growing consumer interest in the amount of noise produced by household electrical appliances. The designer of the product must identify the source of the noise, in order to reduce the noise. In the case of a household electric appliance such as the washing machine, there is consumer's complaint about the noise that is generated during the dehydrating condition. Because of several noise sources combined each other. It is difficult to identify the noise sources that contribute to the noise output. Multi-Dimensional Spectral Analysis (MDSA) is a method that can remove the correlation between different noise sources, and it expresses the key contributing factor as a unique output. This study utilized MDSA to analyze the contribution of each input in the noise output during the dehydrating condition.

  • In this paper, time-frequency analysis using wavelet packet transform and advanced-MDSA (Multiple Dimensional Spectral Analysis) which based on wavelet packet transform is applied fur fault source identification and diagnosis of early detection of fault non-stationary sound/vibration signals. This method is analyzing the signal in the plane of instantaneous time and instantaneous frequency. The results of ordinary coherence function, which obtained by wavelet packet analysis, showed the possibility of early fault detection by analysis at the instantaneous time. So, by checking the coherence function trend, it is possible to detect which signal contains the major fault signal and to know how much the system is damaged. Finally, It is impossible to monitor the system is damaged or undamaged by using conventional method, because crest factor is almost constant under the range of magnitude of fault signal as its approach to normal signal. However instantaneous coherence function showed that a little change of fault signal is possible to monitor the system condition. And it is possible to predict the maintenance time by condition based maintenance for any stationary or non-stationary signals.

  • In this study, the use of a continuous-wave (CW) supercontinuum (SC) seeded by an erbium-doped fiber's amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) for optical-coherence tomography imaging is experimentally demonstrated. It was shown, by taking an in-depth image of a human tooth sample, that due to the smooth, flat spectrum and long-term stability of the proposed CW SC, it can be readily applied to the spectral-domain optical-coherence tomography system. The relative-intensity noise level and spectral bandwidth of the CW SC are also experimentally analyzed as a function of the ASE beam power.

  • Based on experimental analysis, the characteristics of pulsating pressure wave propagation is clarified by testing of 4-stroke gasoline engine. The pulsating pressure wave in exhaust system is generated by pulsating gas flow due to working of exhaust valve. The pulsating pressure wave is closely concerned to the loss of engine power according to back pressure and exhaust noise. It is difficult to exactly calculate pulsating pressure wave propagation in exhaust system because of nonlinear effect. Therefore, in the first step for solving these problems, this paper contains experimental model and analysis method which are applied two-port network analysis. Also, it shows coherence function, frequency response function, back pressure, and gradient of temperature in exhaust system.
