보건의료인을 대상으로 한 금연교육모형 개발 (Development of Educational Model for Health Professionals Regarding Smoking Cessation)

  • Objecive and Method: Smoking among health professionals has been shown to influence smoking related knowledge, attitude and educational practices in medical setting. And lack of health professionals' efficacy for smoking cessation intervention has been a major barrier to education on smoking too. In this regard, the present study was carried out to introduce and discuss the advanced cases of smoking cessation education for health professionals, and to develop theory-based educational models of smoking cessation for health professionals in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of intervention on smoking in a medical framework. Results: First, major issues of health professionals' smoking cessation intervention were discussed. Discussed issues were smoking prevalence among health professionals, importance of health professionals' roles both as health educators and examples, and health professionals' cognitive dissonance. As advanced cases of smoking cessation education for health professionals, ATOD(Alcohol, Tabacco, and Other Drug problem prevention) developed by US Department of Health & Human Services and the Rx for Change curriculum in California State were discussed. Finally, smoking cessation educational models for health professionals were developed on the basis of social cognitive model and TPB/TTM. Conclusions: For the effective and efficient smoking cessation intervention in medical setting, systematic efforts would be necessary to provide opportunities for ensuring the qualification of health professionals on smoking cessation through an analysis of major issues concerning smoking cessation education for health professional and the development of comprehensive curriculum for smoking cessation.

컴퓨터 인지강화 프로그램이 경도인지장애 노인의 인지기능, 우울, 자아존중감 및 일상생활 수행능력에 미치는 효과 (Effects of a Computerized Cognitive Training on Cognitive Function, Depression, Self-esteem, and Activities of Daily Living among Older Adults with Mild Cognitive Impairment)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a computerized cognitive training on older adults affected by mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in terms of cognitive function, depression, self-esteem, and activities of daily living (ADL). Methods: This study used a non-equivalent control group non-synchronized design. A total of 53 older adults who reside in long-term care facilities were recruited, 26 subjects for an experimental group and 27 subjects for a control group. A computerized cognitive training was performed for 20~40 minutes/day, three days/week for ten weeks. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 with $x^2$ test, Fisher's exact test, and t-test. Results: Scores of MMSE (t=3.30, p=.002), depression (t=-2.15, p=.036), and self-esteem (t=2.76, p=.008) were significantly better in the experimental group than the control group. However, the difference in ADL (t=-1.01, p=.316) was not significant between the two groups. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the computerized cognitive training can be used as an effective nursing intervention to improve cognitive function and self-esteem and lower depression among older adults with MCI.

The Effects of Computerized Gaming Program on Cognition in Children with Mental Retardation: A Case Study

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analysis of effectiveness between cognitive function assessment scores and gaming cognitive rehabilitation system in children with intellectual impairment. Methods: Five children (male=5, $age=10.00{\pm}0.80$) with intellectual impairment participated in this study and were randomly assigned to the experiment that played (received) gaming cognitive rehabilitation system (Neuroworld). The children were applied 2 times a week for 30 minutes during 3 months. The children were assessed K-WSIC-VI (Korean-Wechsler intelligence scale for children-fourth edition) and recorded that gained score in gaming cognitive rehabilitation system before and after intervention. K-WSIC-VI contained five primary index scores: verbal comprehension index, visual spatial index, fluid reasoning index, working memory index, and processing speed index. Gaming cognitive rehabilitation system scoring was composed visual recall, target recall, sequence recall, selective attention, continuous attention, and exploration. Results: In the intelligence quotient (IQ) of K-WSIC-VI, there were significant increased in all children. The visual recall item was highest effective in all children. However, sequential recall showed the lowest improvement in all children. The performance speed of selective attention item was decreased, this means that children's skills have improved. Also, their ability to explore has improved significantly. Conclusion: In conclusion, gaming cognitive rehabilitation system was significant effectiveness in cognitive function in some categories for children with intellectual impairment. However, the visual recall and performance speed don't represent of all cognitive function. Therefore, further studies will need to verify by applying more subject and longer duration.

통합적 인지훈련프로그램의 노인 인지기능에 미치는 효과 (Effects of the Integrative Cognitive Training Program on Elderly Cognitive Function)

  • 본 연구는 통합적 인지훈련프로그램이 지역사회 노인의 인지기능에 미치는 효과를 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 연구방법은 비동등성 대조군 전후설계로 일 지역의 노인복지관을 이용하는 만 65세 이상 노인 중 56명을 실헙군과 대조군에 각각 28명씩 임의 배정하였으며, 실험군에는 2011년 9월 3주부터 12월 2주까지 1주 2회, 1회 90분씩, 12주간, 총 24회의 통합적 인지훈련프로그램을 적용하였다. 실험처치 전에 실험군과 대조군의 인적사항과 노인용인지검사를 실시하였으며, 실험처치 후에 다시 실험군과 대조군의 노인용인지검사를 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 연구결과, 통합적 인지훈련프로그램 실시 후 실험군의 노인용 인지검사(전체지능, 기초지능, 관리지능, 주의기능, 작업기억, 언어기억, 시공간력, 기억기능, MMSE-K1)점수가 대조군에 비해 통계적으로 유의하게 상승된 것으로 나타났다(p< .05). 본 연구는 통합적 인지훈련 프로그램이 지역사회 노인의 인지기능을 향상시킬 수 있다는 점을 파악한 데 의의가 있다.

뇌졸중 환자의 신체적 장애, 인지장애 및 신체상간의 관계 (Relationship between Physical Disability, Cognitive Disorder and Body Image in Stroke Patients)

  • Purpose: This study was to analyze the relationship the physical disability, cognitive disorder and body image. Method: The research was a descriptive relationship study. A sample is composed of 101 hospitalized stroke patients. Data were collected from November, 2005 to December, 2005. The survey instruments used in the study Sharon and Glen's physical disability scale, Lim's cognitive disorder scale and Osgood's body image scale. The collected data were analyzed frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, ANOVA, Duncan test, Pearsons' correlation coefficients. Result: The level of physical disability the score was 2.26, cognitive disorder 1.84 and body image 3.54. and they were relation to significant correlation. The body image showed significant negative correlation with physical disability, cognitive disorder. Physical disability showed significant positive correlation with cognitive disorder(r=.639, p=.000), and significant negative correlation with body image(r=-.420, p=.000). Cognitive disorder showed significant negative correlation with body image(r=-.620, p=.000). There were significant differences of body image by general characteristics as follows: age(p=.000), occupation(p=.004), education(p=.008), disease(p=.007). monthly income(p=.006), burden of medical expenses(p=.001), duration of stroke(p=.008). Conclusion: There was a significant correlation between physical disability, cognitive disorder and body image. there will be considered useful nursing intervention effect to physical disability, cognitive disorder and body image of stroke patients.

예술적 개입을 통한 건축표피의 그래픽 특성 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Graphics on Architectural Surfaces through Artistic Intervention)

  • This study investigates the examples of artistic intervention especially on the surface of architecture as a meeting place of art and architecture. Artistic intervention demonstrates the possibilities for the meaningful integration of arts into architectural spaces. This study summarizes the characteristics of artistic intervention on the surfaces of architectures as follow; first, the artistic intervention is applied to the broad ranges of designs including public art, architectural design and sign design that establish identities and unique characters to the spaces. Second, the artistic intervention on the surfaces is conducted by the participation of the various fields of artists, i.e. painters, installation artists, graphic designers and landscape designers. The artistic intervention is also conducted by individual collaboration between artists and architects as well as by the forms of public art of art-in-architecture program. Third, the artistic intervention on the surfaces is expressed using the complex combination of images, colors, patterns, and texts. They are applied to enhance the aesthetic and symbolic characters of buildings in public arts, to improve the visual characters of architectural design with graphics, colors, and patterns, as well as to increase communication skills and cognitive effects of sign design with letters and colors on walls and floor surfaces. Fourth, the artistic intervention is also applied on the surfaces to encourage people to communicate historic and symbolic meanings related to the locations and functions. Thus, graphics on the architectural surfaces could provide a public space, with which people could share common feeling on public arts. As a conclusion, the study finds that artistic intervention either as artworks or as elements of architectural design can not only enhance the aesthetic quality of architectural space but also expand the techniques of design representation. In addition, the artistic intervention can contribute to create a new realm of design where artists and architects work together to enrich our surroundings.

주간보호센터 이용 경도 치매노인에게 적용한 맞춤형 작업 중재의 효과 (The Effect of Tailored Occupational Intervention on the Elderly with Mild Dementia using the Day Care Center)

  • 목적 : 본 연구는 주간보호센터를 이용하는 경도 치매노인을 대상으로 맞춤형 작업 중재를 적용하여 이러한 작업 중재가 효과가 있는지 확인하였다. 연구방법 : 본 연구는 B지역의 주간보호센터를 이용하는 경도 치매노인 29명을 대상으로 단일군 전·후 실험설계를 적용하였고, 일주일에 한 번, 60분씩 총 10회기를 진행하였다. 중재는 크게 집단 활동과 개인 활동으로 이루어졌으며, 개인 활동은 경도 치매노인과 담당자가 상의하여 작업 목표를 선정하고 목표를 달성하기 위해 필요한 다양한 활동들을 일대일로 시행하였다. 맞춤형 작업 중재의 효과는 CERAD 평가, 버그 균형 척도(Berg Balance Scale; BBS), 노인우울척도(Geriatric Depression Scale; GDS) 등을 통해 확인하였다. 결과 : 중재 이후 인지기능 변화에서는 MMSE-KC의 총점과 시간 지남력, 집중력, 구성회상, 길 만들기 B에서, 신체기능 변화에서는 BBS의 선 자세에서 앉기와 두 눈을 감고 잡지 않고 서 있기에서, 우울 변화에서는 GDS 점수에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다(p<.05). 결론 : 맞춤형 작업 중재는 경도 치매노인의 인지기능과 신체기능의 향상, 우울의 감소에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 경도 치매노인에게 적용할 수 있는 하나의 중재로 맞춤형 작업 중재를 제안하는 근거를 마련하였다.

An Analysis of the Momentum Effect by Students' Characteristics and the Modes of Representation Patterns

  • The purpose of this study was to find the effect of these variables on the duration of the momentum effect. To examine the momentum effect for gravitational field concepts, an intensive time series design was used. We collected data every day except Sundays and holidays for 50 days; 5 days for baseline, 30 days for intervention, and 15 days for the follow up We adopted cognitive levels and styles as students characteristics and two item characteristics(quantity versus quality, and word versus picture) as the item representation patterns. In this study, the momentum effect was influenced by students characteristics and item representation patterns. The results showed that two variables, cognitive style and quantity/quality, were the most influential factors for the duration of momentum effect. Field independent students showed a longer duration than field dependent students did. In addition, students showed a longer duration in quality items than in quantity items. However, students cognitive levels(formal or preformal) and word/picture presentations seemed to have relatively weak effect on the duration of the momentum effect.

유제품의 치매 및 인지기능 저하 예방 효과 (Preventive Effects of Dairy Products on Dementia and Cognitive Decline)

  • The prevention of cognitive decline and dementia is an increasingly important global public health priority due to an increase in the percentage of the elderly population. Dementia, a severe cognitive disorder, not only negatively impacts the patients' quality of life but also creates a substantial burden for caregivers. This review introduced recent advances regarding the protective effects of dairy product intake against dementia and cognitive decline. Recent epidemiological studies have suggested that specific components of dairy products including bioactive peptides, colostrinin, proline-rich polypeptides, α-lactalbumin, vitamin B12, calcium, and probiotics might promote healthy brain function during aging. Additionally, oleamide and dehydroergosterol in Camembert cheese have been suggested as agents capable of reducing microglial inflammatory responses and neurotoxicity. The intake of neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory compounds in meals is safe and easy, hence nutritional approaches, including dairy product consumption, serve as a promising intervention for the prevention of neurodegenerative disorders.

노인의 인지기능과 우울의 영향요인 (Influencing Factors of Cognitive Function and Depression in Elderly)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the influencing factors of cognitive function and depression in elderly. Method: From 3 provinces, 282 elders who resided in community and facilities completed structured questionnaires, including cognitive functions, depression, self-esteem, ADL, and IADL. Data were analyzed by applying ${\chi}^2$-test, ANOVA, partial correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis with SAS 8.12. Results: Community dwelling aged people showed higher scores in MMSE-K, self-esteem, ADL and IADL, and showed lower scores in depression than facility elders. MMSE-K was positively correlated in self-esteem, ADL, and personal cognition of health, except depression. Major factors that affect cognitive function of elderly were residual type, age, and IADL. In addition, major factors that affect depression of elderly were self-esteem, personal cognition of health, and marital status. Conclusions: Based on the results above, it is necessary to identify the status of cognition and depression in the elderly, and to develop nursing intervention programs, which improve cognitive function and reduce depression for aged, especially for the facility admitted aged.
