The subjects were 303 fourth and sixth grade children selected from three elementary schools in Seoul. The instruments were a children's self-perceived competence scale, and a perception of parental warmth and control scale. Frequencies, percentiles, mean, t-test, one-way-ANOVA, and $Scheffe{\acute{e}}$-test were used for data analysis. There were significant differences in children's self-perceived competence by perception of parental warmth and control. The children who perceived more parental warmth and control perceived themselves higher in cognitive and social competence and in self-worth. • The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that affect the social competence of young children and to promote the social competence development of the age group. The study gathered data from 21 childcare teachers and 255 mothers of young children attending childcare centers in Incheon. Structured questionnaires were used for collecting data from the participants. The findings are as follows: First, playfulness and social competence varied by the age and gender of the young children. Boys outperformed their female counterparts in the sub-factors of playfulness such as physical spontaneity and sense of humor. Age caused a significant difference in all sub-factors including physical spontaneity, social spontaneity, cognitive spontaneity, manifest joy and sense of humor and the social competence of young children. Second, the study examined the correlations among social competence, temperament and playfulness. A positive correlation was shown between overall social competence and activity; social competence was negatively correlated with shyness but positively correlated with the sub-variables of children's playfulness. Lastly, emotionality, shyness, physical spontaneity, cognitive spontaneity, and sense of humor were variables that had serious effects on the overall social competence of young children.

  • The primary purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of cognitive emotion regulation strategies in the relationship between adult attachment and interpersonal relationship competence. To achieve the purpose of the study, college students from nationwide completed the questionnaire and analyzed 326 valid ones. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and structural equation model were performed using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 23.0. The results are as follows. First, adult attachment(attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance) were negatively correlated with interpersonal relationship competence. Also, attachment avoidance was significantly influenced on interpersonal relationship competence than attachment anxiety. Second, in the relationship between adult attachment and interpersonal relationship competence, attachment anxiety was fully mediated and attachment avoidance was partially mediated with cognitive emotion regulation strategies. Attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance mediated with adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies. Based on these results, we verified the importance and the possibility of changing the cognitive emotion regulation for increasing the level of interpersonal relationship competence. Finally, this study may provide an insight in terms of developing education and programs of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies in counseling session.

  • Self-service technologies (SST) are rapidly changing the way customers participate in the purchasing process. Academic literature has focused on the acceptance of SSTs. However, this study explored consumer's cognitive response and purchase intentions through service qualities of SST as well as how they are moderated by technology anxiety and other people's presence based on TAM3. An online survey collected 279 consumer panels. All responses were used for the analysis and analyzed statistically through SPSS 23.0. The results indicate that only enjoyment and control had a significant effect on warmth perception; however, all service qualities had significant effects on competence perception. The perceived warmth and perceived competence partially mediated the relationship between SST service qualities and purchase intention. The moderating effect of technical anxiety was shown to be significant in the relationship between perceived competence and purchase intention. In addition, technology anxiety had a moderating effect on the relationship between competence perception and purchase intention only in a public situation.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of adaptive-maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies in relationship between communication competence and problem-solving capacity. Subjects were 189 male collegiate athletes. The results were as follows: Their communication competence had a positive influence on their problem-solving capacity, and their adaptive emotion regulation strategies had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between communication competence and problem-solving capacity. But the maladaptive emotion regulation strategy did not have a statistically significant relationship with communication competence or problem-solving capacity. This result suggests that the communication competence and customized adaptive emotion regulation strategies are necessary to improve the problem-solving capacity of collegiate athletes.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of compassion competence on communication behavior of long-term care hospital nurses caring for patients with cognitive impairment and the mediating effect of resilience in the process. The data collection period was from September 27, 2021 to October 22, 2021, and the subjects were 131 long-term care hospital nurses in P city. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 25.0 program, and descriptive statistics, pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression were performed. As a result of the study, first, it was found that there was a significant positive correlation between compassion competence and communication behavior(r=.625, p<.001), resilience and communication behavior(r=.535, p<.001). Second, resilience was verified as a partial mediating in the relationship between compassion competence and communication behavior(Z=2.012, p=.042). Therefore, in order to improve the communication behavior of nurses, it is suggested to develop and apply a program that can enhance compassion competence and resilience.
