  • A brushless linear motor is suitable for operation with higher speed and precision. Since it does not involve mechanical coupling, linear driving force can be applied directly. Conventional PID and fuzzy controllers are implemented and performance results using those controllers are compared. Along with better simulated performance observed using fuzzy controller, further fabrication is to be included with various empirical results. Several system operational characteristics have been observed. Typical nonlinearities as friction, cogging and torque or thrust ripple that might deteriorate system performance would be tackled using presumably effective method such as neural network based learning controller.

  • 대용량 BLDC 모터의 진동과 소음의 원인은 영구자석과 슬롯형상에 의한 코깅토크와 전류 파형에 의한 고주파이다. 특히 대용량 BLDC의 경우 코깅토크에 의한 진동 및 소음의 영향이 상대적으로 큰 값을 가지게 되며, 본 연구는 5MW급 연구자석형 전동기에서 코깅토크 발생원인 중 하나인 영구자석의 형상을 최적화하기 위하여 RSM(Response Surface Method)과 민감도기법을 적용하여 코깅토크 저감을 위한 연구를 하였다. FEM에 의해서 자속밀도분포와 토크를 계산하고, 1개의 목적함수와 3개의 설계변수를 설정하여 최적화 하였다. FEM과 최적화기법(RSM+민감도기법)을 결합하여 영구자석의 형상을 최적화한 결과 코깅토크의 ripple이 최대 20%정도로 감소되었으며, 목적함수와 설계변수의 개수에 따라 더욱 개선될 수 있다.

  • In this paper, a design method for minimizing the cogging torque of an Interior Permanent Magnet Motor (IPM) is proposed based on a hybrid algorithm. The suggested optimization algorithm is based on a combination of the Response Surface Method (RSM) and Simplex Method. The results show that the proposed method provides improved characteristics compared to the conventional methods, such as a shorter calculation time and the acquisition of a more correct solution.

  • This paper treated the design and characteristics of high speed motor/generator with ring wound stator for the flywheel energy storage system. The most important advantages of the ring-wound motor is the slotless stator, i.e. no cogging torque, no space harmonic of air-gap flux density, etc. Because of these advantages, ring wound type motor is suitable to operate at the high speed.

  • This paper discussed an optimal designs of 2 pole fan motors in refrigerator using a Niching Algorithm. We applied a Niching method to multi-objective optimal design of air gap construct. This Niching genetic algorithm is called "Restricted Competition Selection"(RCS) that is suitable for real world problem such as shape or structural optimization of electromagnetic device. The finite element method being used for nonlinear numerical characteristic analysis is provided exact solution in the system. Through this process is reduced the cogging torque ripple in air gap.

  • In this paper, we discussed an optimal design of BLDC motor using rare earth magnet. In motor design using rare earth magnet, because of the characteristics that rare earth magnets have high remanence, the effect of saturation of steel has to be considered. For this, we used nonlinear finite clement method. For optimal design, a Niching genetic algorithm is used. As a result, we found out a set of BLDC motor shapes increasing motor efficiency, and decreasing cogging torque.

  • In this paper, we proposed the outer-rotor type of FSPM motor for high speed operation and optimized motor shape. First of all, combinations of pole and slot numbers are examined for the optimal back-EMF and cogging torque, then optimizes the better shape design of the permanent magnet, rotor pole width. Further, The winding turns are obtained by circle of the voltage limit equation and motor parameters to minimize the current and to improve the efficiency. As a result, the performance of the designed model is satisfied, and it is verified through a two-dimensional finite element method (2D-FEA).

  • This paper presents the improved back-EMF of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator(IPMSM) for small hydropower generator. To improve back-EMF characteristics, the size and position of notch are applied to the rotor. In addition, parametric analysis of the notch size and position was performed. Finally, the back-EMF characteristic analysis are confirmed by the experimental results.

  • 자동차 EPS(Electric Power Steering)용 소용량 표면부착형 영구자석 동기전동기(SPMSM : Surface mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor)의 설계에는 주로 토크리플 및 코깅토크 저감이 설계목표로 결정되는데, 토크리플과 코깅토크는 치폭, 요크폭, 자석 극호각 등 전동기 형상에 영향을 많이 받는다. 특히, 자석 극호각에 따라 변동이 극심한데, 이는 출력특성이 공극 자속밀도 변화량에 크게 의존하기 때문이다. 한편, 일반적으로 토크리플과 코깅토크의 최소점은 각각 다르기 때문에, 소용량 SPMSM 설계시 큰 어려움으로 작용한다. 따라서 본 논문은 이러한 현상을 효과적으로 고려한 소용량 SPMSM 최적설계를 목적으로 하며, 600W급 고전압 EPS용 전동기 설계를 통해 연구의 타당성을 검증한다.
