In this paper, we show the equivalence between complementary code keying (CCK) codeword and coset of the first order Reed-Muller (RM) code with variables of three. The CCK codewords are Golay sequences which have peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of two at most and can correct one error. We propose a CCK-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modem to reduce PAPR. Also, we present the performance improvement techniques by increasing the variables of four to correct three errors and reduce PAPR at least 9㏈ with this system. Although, two Fast Hadamard Transform (FHT) blocks of size 8 64 are required at the receiver, we reduce the complexity by using FHT blocks of size 8 64 and 2 4 without deteriorating the performance. We generalize our results that we may increase the variables of RM code to enhance the error correcting and PAPR reduction capabilities without increasing receiver's complexity.

Because of the invisible nature of software and the bad coding habits (bad smell) of the existing developers, there are many redundant codes and unnecessary codes, which increases the complexity and makes it difficult to upgrade software. Therefore, it is required a code visualization so that developers can easily and automatically identify the complexity of the source code. To do this, it is necessary to construct SW visualization tool based on open source software and redefine the coupling and cohesion according to the object oriented viewpoint. Specially to identify a bad smell code pattern, we suggest how to plug-in diverse parsers within our tool. In this paper, through redefining coupling and cohesion from an object oriented perspective, we will extract bad smell code patterns within source code from inputting any pattern into the tool.

In this paper, we propose a syndrome decoding scheme that can correct two errors for single error correcting Hamming codes within a code length. The decoding scheme proposed in this paper has the advantage of significantly improving the error rate performance compared to the decoder complexity by correcting multiple errors without substantially increasing the decoding complexity. It is suitable for applications in which the energy use of encoder/decoder is extremely limited and the low error rate performance is required, such as IoT communications and molecular communications. In order to verify the improvement of the error rate performance of the Hamming code with the proposed decoding scheme, we performed simulation on Hamming codes with short code length in the AWGN and BPSK modulation environments. As a result, compared with the conventional decoding method, the proposed decoding scheme showed performance improvement of about 1.1 ~ 1.2[dB] regardless of the code length of the Hamming code.

LDPC code has beend applied in recent communication standards, such as Wi-Fi, WiGig, 10GBased-T Ethernet as a forward error correction code. However, LDPC code is required a large amount of computational complexity due to large iterations and block lengths for high performances. To solve this problem, various research has been continously performed for reducing computational complexity. In this paper, we propose AFC algorithm to deactive the variable and check node for reduce the computational complexity.
The transmission capacity of wireless communication systems may become dramatically high by employ multiple transmit and receive antennas with space-time coding techniques appropriate to multiple transmit antennas. For large number of transmit antennas and at high bandwidth efficiencies, the receiver may become too complex whenever correlation across transmit antennas is introduced. Reducing decoding complexity at receiver by combining array processing and space-time codes (STC) helps a communication system using STC to overcome the big obstacle that prevents it from achieving a desired high transmission rate. Multi-carrier CDMA (MC-CDMA) allows providing good performance in a channel with high inter-symbol interference. Antenna array, STC and MC-CDMA system have a similar characteristic that transmit-receive data streams are divided into sub-streams. Thus, there may be a noticeable reduction of receiver complexity when we combine them together. In this paper, the combination of array processing and STC in MC-CDMA system over slow selective-fading channel is investigated and compared with corresponding existing MC-CDMA system using STC. A refinement of this basic structure leads to a system design principle in which we have to make a trade off between transmission rate, decoding complexity, and length of spreading code to reach a given desired design goal.
This paper derives and analyzes a novel block fast Fourier transform (FFT) based joint detection algorithm. The paper compares the performance and complexity of the novel block-FFT based joint detector to that of the Cholesky based joint detector and single user detection algorithms. The novel algorithm can operate at chip rate sampling, as well as higher sampling rates. For the performance/complexity analysis, the time division duplex (TDD) mode of a wideband code division multiplex access (WCDMA) is considered. The results indicate that the performance of the fast FFT based joint detector is comparable to that of the Cholesky based joint detector, and much superior to that of single user detection algorithms. On the other hand, the complexity of the fast FFT based joint detector is significantly lower than that of the Cholesky based joint detector and less than that of the single user detection algorithms. For the Cholesky based joint detector, the approximate Cholesky decomposition is applied. Moreover, the novel method can also be applied to any generic multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) system.

In this paper, we propose the construction of Raptor code using LDGM code instead of LDPC code as precode. To see their merits, the simulations are done. The results show that the performance in case of using LDGM code is worse than that of using LDPC code as precode, and the complexity of encoding LDGM code is lower than that of LDPC.

To improve the number of simultaneous transmissions of machine-to-machine traffic in a spread spectrum ALOHA channel, we propose a new spreading technique called doubly truncated cyclic code shift keying (DTCCSK). By truncating the codeset of cyclic code shift keying, DTCCSK freely adjusts the spreading factor and the symbol length. As a result, DTCCSK exhibits both a high spectral efficiency of M-ary signaling and low implementation complexity of a direct sequence.

The decoding method using covering polynomials is an extended form of error-trapping decoding, and is a simple and effective means to implement decoders for cyclic codes. Covering polynomials can be used for soft-decision decoding as well as for decoding beyond the bounded distance of the code. The implementation complexity is proportional to the number of covering polynomials employed. In this paper, the soft-decision decoding procedure using covering polynomials is described, and the procedure is applied to the [23,12] Golay code. A new set of covering polynomials is derived for the procedure, which is presented as a generalized closed-form solution. The set can be efficiently utilized for decoding a class of cyclic codes including the Golay code. Computer simulation of the described procedure is performed to show the trade-offs between the decoder performance and complexity. It is demonstrated that soft-decision decoding of the Golay code using the derived set of covering polynomials has less than 0.2dB deviation from the optimal performance of maximum-likelihood decoding, with a reduced complexity when compared to the Chase Algorithm 2 combined with hard-decision decoding that has nearly identical performance.

A real-time, Indoor navigation systems utilize ultra-wide band (UWB), radio-frequency identification (RFID) and received signal strength (RSS) techniques that encompass WiFi, FM, mobile communications, and other similar technologies. These systems typically require surplus infrastructure for their implementation, which results in significantly increased costs and complexity. Therefore, as a solution to reduce the level of cost and complexity, an inertial measurement unit (IMU) and quick response (QR) codes are utilized in this paper to facilitate navigation with the assistance of a smartphone. The QR code helps to compensate for errors caused by the pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) algorithm, thereby providing more accurate localization. The proposed algorithm having IMU in conjunction with QR code shows an accuracy of 0.64 m which is higher than existing indoor navigation techniques.
