This research was carried out to investigate the optimal conditions ssociated with the RIA procedures such as a bridging phenomena, prozone effects and a new separation methods etc. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The lgG fractions of donkey anti-rabbit IgG sera were purified by Protein-A-Sepharose affinity column, which indicates that Protein-A an affinity for IgG class of donkey antiserum. 2. In coating the IgG fraction on polystryene tubes, incubation conditions made no differences between 2 hr at room temperature and overnight at 4$^{\circ}C$. 3. There were no significant differences between 1st antibody-coated tube and 2nd antibody-coated tube as a separation method when compared in terms of reproducbility. A better reproducibility may be expected if the titers of 1st antibody for the progesterone to be assayed and of corresponding 2nd antibody are reasonably high. 4. The titers of anti-progesterone antibody for 3H-progesterone and progesterone-11HS-125I were 1:300 and 1:700 in liquid-phase, and 1:100 and 1:300 in solid-phse for the separation methods. 5. A bridging phenomena in which a standard curve is long and shallow were observed when progesterone-11HS-125I was used for the tracer, but not in 3H-progesterone. 6. A prozone effect in a solid-phase system, especially 1st antibody-coated tube method was observed which the degree of inhibition was significantly different although zero bindings look the same. In this case, the titration curve should be made both in the absence and in the presence of a, pp.opriate amount of competiter, standard, respectively.

A pyroprocess is currently being developed by KAERI to cope with a highly accumulated spent nuclear fuel in Korea. The pyroprocess produces a certain amount of high-level radioactive waste (HLW), which is solidified by a ceramic binder. The produced ceramic waste will be confined in a secure disposal canister and then placed in a deep geologic formation so as not to contaminate human environment. In this paper, the development of a disposal canister was overviewed by discussing mainly its design premises, constitution, manufacturing methods, corrosion resistance in a deep geologic environment, radiation shielding, and structural stability. The disposal canister should be safe from thermal, chemical, mechanical, and biological invasions for a very long time so as not to release any kind of radionuclides.

In this study, conventional head-end processes of spent TRISO fuel have been reviewed to develope more effective treatment methods. The main concerns in the TRISO treatment are to effectively separate the carbon and SiC contained in the TRISO particles. The crush-burn scheme which was considered in the early stages of the development has been replaced by the crush-leach process because of $^{14}C$ problems as a second waste being generated during the process. However, there are still many obstacles to overcome in the reported processes. Hence, innovative thermomechanical concepts and a molten salt electrochemical approach to breach the coating layers of the TRISO particle with a minimized amount of second waste are proposed in this paper and their principles are described in detail.

This study focuses on developing catalysts for the removal of toluene produced from paint booth. Toluene is one of the major VOC in painting, coating process. Pd catalysts have been used in hydrogenation oxidation and low temperature combustion reaction for toluene removal. Pd catalysts, even though it is very precious and expensive. Therefore, the prepared catalysts from minimizing the amount of Pd ratio (0.1~1.0wt%) were measured. As a result, 1.0wt% Pd(R) catalyst under all conditions showed the highest activity. These results may suggest that the catalytic activity is related to Pd dispersion according sintering atmosphere and Pd ratio in the manufacturing process through the analysis of SEM, XRD.
The aim of this paper is to describe the results of the study on the extreme-ultra-violet (EUV) solar telescope, which is designed to. a possible satellite mission. Since the EUV band can not be observed on the ground, the observation in EUV should be performed in space using a satellite or a rocket. Design of the Extreme-Ultra-Violet solar Telescope (BUVT) in this study is based on "Designing a small-sized engineering model of solar EUV telescope for a Korean satellite" (Han et al. 2001). Our EUVT design is satisfied with the requirements for a satellite in size and input voltage. The major goal of the study is to confirm if we can detect the specific wavelength (58.4nm to 62.9nm) with the EUVT. We describe re-designing of the EUVT to decrease a shelter ratio. Also we describe the technics in the optic system and the detector, which were used to manufacture the EUVT. We explain the detective program, which is to calculate the amount of the solar radiation, and the image data processing system.ng system.
Polysilazane and silazane-based precursor films were deposited on stacked TiN/Ti/TEOS/Si-substrate by spin-coating, then annealed at $150{\sim}400^{\circ}C$, integrated further to form the top electrode and pad, and finally characterized. The precursor solutions were composed of 20% perhydro-polysilazane ($SiH_2NH$)n, and 20% hydropolymethyl silazane ($SiHCH_3NH$)n in dibutyl ether. Annealing of the precursor films led to the compositional change of the two chemicals into silicon (di)oxides, which was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectra. It is thought that the different results that were obtained originated from the fact that the two precursors, despite having the same synthetic route and annealing conditions, had different chemical properties. Electrical measurement indicated that under 0.6MV/cm, a larger capacitance of $2.776{\times}10^{-11}$ F and a lower leakage current of 0.4 pA were obtained from the polysilazane-based dielectric films, as compared to $9.457{\times}10^{-12}$ F and 2.4 pA from the silazane-based film, thus producing a higher dielectric constant of 5.48 compared to 3.96. FTIR indicated that these superior electrical properties are directly correlated to the amount of Si-O bonds and the improved chemical bonding structures of the spin-on dielectric films, which were derived from a precursor without C. The chemical properties of the precursor films affected both the formation and the electrical properties of the spin-on dielectric film.
This work focused on the degradation of natural organic matter (NOM) present in lake water using a combined pkotocatalysisimicrofiltration (MF) process. The system performances were investigated in terms of organic removal efficiency and membrane permeability. The addition of iron oxide particles (IOP) into the photocatalytic membrane reactor improved initial NOM removal by sorption, but during photocatalysis the removal efficiency was reversed, probably due to the scattering of UV light by IOP. The modification of TiO$_2$ surfaces by IOP deposition was conducted to enhance the photocatalytic NOM removal efficiency. A minimal amount of Impregnation of IOP on TiO$_2$ surfaces was required to prevent the light scattering effect as well. The coating of MF membranes with IOP helped to improve the NOM removal efficiency while sorbing NOM by IOP. Regardless of tile operating conditions and particles addition examined, no significant fouling was occurring at a flux of 15 L/$m^2$-h during entire MF operation.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate drug-loaded biodegradable membranes for guided tissue regeneration(GTR). The membranes were made by coating mesh of polyglycolic acid(PGA) with polylactic acid(PLA) containing 10% flurbiprofen or tetracycline. The thickness of membrane was $150{\pm}30{\mu}m$, and the pore size of surface was about $8{\mu}m$ in diameter. The release of drugs from the membrane was measured in vitro. Cytotoxity test for the membrane was performed by gingival fibroblast cell culture, and the tissue response was observed after implant of membrane into the dorsal skin of the rat for 8 wks. Ability to guided tissue regeneration of membranes were tested by measuring new bone in the calvarial defects(5mm in diameter) of the rat for 5 weeks. The amount of flurbiprofen and tetracycline released from membrane were about 30-60% during 7 days. Minimal cytotoxity was observed in the membrane except 20% drug containing membrane. In histologic finding of rat dorsal skin, many inflammatory cells were observed around e-PTFE, polyglactin 910 and PLAPGA membrane after 1 or 2 weeks. PLA-PGA membrane was perforated by connective tissue after 4 or 6 weeks, and divided as a segment at 8 weeks. In bone regeneration guiding potential test, tetracycline loaded membrane was most effective (p

In a mass manufacturing system of optical fibers, the sufficient cooling of glass fibers freshly drawn from a draw furnace is essential, asinadequately cooled glass fibers can lead to poor resin coating on the fiber surface and possibly fiber breakage during the process. In order to improve fiber cooling at a high drawing speed, it is common to use a helium injection into a glass fiber cooling unit in spite of the high cost of the helium supply. The present numerical analysis carried out three-dimensional thermo-fluid computations of the cooling gas flow and heat transfer on moving glass fiber to determine the cooling performance of glass fiber cooling depending on the method of helium injection. The results showed that afront injection of helium is most effective compared to a uniform or rear injection for reducing air entrainment into the unit and thus cooling the glass fibers at a high fiber drawing speed. However, above a certain amount of injected helium, there was no more increase of the cooling effect regardless of the helium injection method.
At present, crystalline solar cells take up a significant percentage of the solar industry. The ways of increasing the efficiency of crystalline solar cell are texturing and AR(Anti-Reflection) coating, and the purpose of these technologies is to increase the amount of available light on the solar cell by reducing the reflectivity. The reflectance of crystalline silicon solar cell combined with such technologies will be able to predict using the proposed simulation in this paper. The simulation algorithm was made using MATLAB, and it is a combination of the theories of reflection in textured wafer and in anti-reflection coated wafer. The simulation results were divided into three wavelength band and were compared with actual reflectance measured by a spectrometer. The wavelength band from 300 to 380 was named ultraviolet region and the wavelength band from 380 to 780 is named visible region. Finally, the wavelength band from 780 to 1200 named infrared region. When compared with measured reflection data, the simulation results had a small error from 0.4 to 0.5[%] in visible region. The error occurred in the rest two regions is larger than visible region. The extreme error occurred the infrared region is due to internal reflection effect, but in the ultraviolet region, the rationale on reduction phenomenon of reflectance occurred in small range did not proved. If these problem will be solve, this simulation will have high reliability more than now and be able to predict the reflectance of solar cells.
