  • The objectives of this study were to investigate the differences in clothing and body attitude according to demographic variables, and to examine how clothing and body attitude were influenced by social values and demographic variable of adolescents. The questions of 5-point Likert scale were used for the evaluation of clothing attitude, body attitude, and social values. Four dimensions of social values were derived by factor analysis: 'the sense of estrangement', 'the satisfaction with school life', 'materialism', and' the sense of community'. Subjects were 373 adolescent girls in Seoul(182 middle school students and 191 high school students). The data were analyzed by using factor analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. First, the conformity to entertainers' dresses was influenced by materialism and age(-). Clothing aesthetics was influenced by materialism and allowance, and fashion was influenced by materialism. Second, the interest of plastic surgery was influenced by materialism and allowance. The interest of weight was influenced by the sense of estrangement, school grade(-), the education level of mother, materialism, and the satisfaction with school life. The interest of makeup was influenced by allowance, school grade(-), and the education level of mother(-). Appearance satisfaction was influenced by the sense of estrangement(-) and the satisfaction with school life. The present result means that social values such as materialism and the sense of estrangement are significant variables to understand the appearance attitude of adolescents.

  • The Purposes of this study are to investigate consumers' causes of clothing preference and dispreference separately, and to get 'real' descriptions about that causes using an open-ended response questionnaire. The sample was composed of 81 undergraduate students. Subjects were asked to select their preferred clothing and disprefered clothing respectively among wardrobes they have and to describe the causes of that preference/dispreference. The data was collected through an open-ended response questionnaire and analyzed using content analysis. The system for content analysis was divided into the view Point of image, clothing itself, wearer's physical characteristics, wearing situation, others' response, wearer's values, wearer's consciousness, and purchase process. Image was the primary cause that raised clothing preference, and clothing itself, wearer's physical characteristic, wearing situation, others' response, wearer's consciousness, wearer's values, and purchase process followed. In audition. wearer's physical characteristic was the primary cause that raised clothing dispreference. and image, clothing itself. wearer's consciousness, wearer's values. wearing situation, purchase process, and others' response followed. Finally, the framework for the causes of clothing preference/dispreference was developed.

  • This study took the conceptual framework of acculturation styles into the empirical investigation of international students in Korea. This research identifies the differences in acculturation styles, the characteristics of each segment, the effect of acculturation styles on clothing involvement (clothing involvement and risk probability), and the effect of cultural orientation values (individualism and collectivism) as covariates. The participants were international students attending a university located in Seoul. Data from 153 international students were used for statistical analysis. Respondents were grouped into four acculturation styles (integration, assimilation, separation, and marginalization). The assimilation group had the highest mean score of clothing interest. Cultural orientation values showed a significant covariate effect. With individualism as covariates, the main effect of acculturation styles on clothing interest was significant. In clothing product evaluation criteria, the integration group regarded design, fit and trend as most important. The marginalization group showed a mean score that was significantly lower in brand preference and satisfaction; however, the assimilation group had a mean score that was significantly higher.

  • This study regarded fashion selection criteria as clothing consumption value and desired fashion images, and examined selection differences according to regional subculture groups. Clothing consumption value is a direct value that people seek with clothing products and a perceived value which is divided into emotional, social, price, quality values. Fashion image which is a feeling communicated to others by wearing a certain fashion style is the most superficial value. Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) was performed to test the differences between regional subculture groups in clothing consumption values and desired fashion images. We found some differences in clothing consumption value specifically in emotional value and social value. The group differences were remarkably significant in fashion image comparison. 'Kang-nam' group pursued 'lively', 'sophisticated', 'charming', feminine', 'gorgeous' image more than 'Kang-buk' group. While 'Kang-buk' group produced lower scores in ideal fashion images, the group had significant higher seeking in 'sportive' image compared to 'Kangnam' group.

  • Since trusting in other consumers may refer to having similar needs and preferences on fashion goods with them, interpersonal trust can be a reliable and practical criterion for market segmentation online. Therefore, this study aims to identify fashion online consumers based on interpersonal trust. This study segments fashion consumers based on interpersonal trust and experience and describes characteristics of each segment by examining demo-psychographic and behavioral variables as well as clothing consumption values. An online survey was conducted to collect data from 426 adult consumers who had bought fashion goods from their patronized e-tailer in the past one month. They completed a self-administered questionnaire inquiring about interpersonal trust, trust in e-tailers, purchase intentions, clothing consumption values, and their purchasing behavior online. Two-step cluster analysis generated four segments: distrustful doers, trusting doers, inactive trusters, and distrusters. They exhibited different characteristics in gender, online experiences, interpersonal trust, clothing consumption values, trust in the e-tailers, and attitude toward the e-tailers. Providing a new effective segmentation base, this study suggests that fashion marketers identify customers with a high level of trust in other customers and develop an encouraging environment that customers can interact with others in order to increase the effectiveness of trust. Because customers with a higher level of interpersonal trust are likely to have stronger trust in e-tailers with, more favorable attitude and purchase intention, and highly perceive the value of clothing consumption than those who have a lower level of interpersonal trust.

  • Tencel fabric was treated with cellulase and softener. And then Mechanical properties were investigated. Basic characteristic values of clothing wearing were calculated. With the treatment of cellulase and softener treatment, WT, RT, LC, WC, RC of mechanical characteristics were increased, and G, 2HG, 2HG5, B, 2HB were decreased. B/W, $\sqrt[3]{B/W}$, $\sqrt{2HB/W}$, 2HB/B, W/T of Basic characteristic values of clothing wearing were decreased. WC/W, WC/T were increased, Therefore, drapability, crease resistance, pressing softness, air content were improved. In consideration of mechanical characteristics and basic characteristic values of clothing wearing depending on the softener, values of WT, WC/W, WC/T were bigger with the treatment of epoxy and snow softener than with the treatment of cation and blend softener. LC, WC, RC, B/W, $\sqrt[3]{B/W}$, $\sqrt{2HB/W}$, 2HB/B, W/T were bigger with the treatment of cation and blend softener than with the treatment of epoxy and snow softener. Thereofre, with the treatment of epoxy and snow softener, drapability, crease resistance, air content were improved. With the treatment of cation and blend softener, pressing softness were improved.

  • Many Koreans have recently bleached their black hair to blond or a light color due to the influence of their favorite Korean idols. Bleaching effects were studied under various bleaching conditions, such as the concentration of oxidants, the ratio between bleach accelerant and oxidant, and treatment temperature and time. The degree of damage of bleached hair with the same color difference (${\Delta}E$) intervals was observed in SEM images, the retention of breaking load and the change of color after dyeing. The ratio between bleach accelerant and oxidant of 1:2.5 was an effective condition. $L^*$ values of the bleached hair treated with 9% oxidant increased to 90 min. At a treatment temperature of $30^{\circ}C$, $a^*$ values were maximum at 30 min and then decreased as time further increased; however, $b^*$ values of the bleached hair increased as the treatment time increased. At $45^{\circ}C$, both of $a^*$ and $b^*$ values showed a maximum at a specific time. Bleaching efficiency was influenced most by temperature, followed in order by time, and oxidant concentration. As the treatment time increased, $L^*$ values greatly increased with twice treatment; however, $a^*$ and $b^*$ values decreased. Bleached hair, which had a color difference of higher than 30, showed the scales were completely removed and the retention of the breaking load greatly decreased. Highly bleached hair showed a great decrease in $L^*$ values by dyeing; however, dyeing with bright colors was more indicative to the effect of bleaching.

  • The purposes of this study were to reveal the relation of consumer value variables and to identify the difference of clothing information exploration behaviors on consumer value variables. The data were collected from 267 college women residing in Gwangju using a Questionnaire to general value, clothing value, consumption value and clothing information exploration behaviors. It were analyzed with factor analysis, cluster analysis, T-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis using statistical program SPSS 10.0. The results of this research were as follows: 1. Only one factor of general value had a significant influence on 'practical' of clothing value. All of general value and clothing value had a significant influence on the whole consumption value. 2. Clothing information search behaviors was divided into three factors: 'variety pursuit' 'active information collection' and 'uniqueness pursuit'. General value group had a significant difference in 'variety pursuit' and 'active information collection' behavior. Clothing value and consumption value group had a significant difference in all factors of clothing information search behaviors. By implication, this study could be explain each contributions of consumer values and suggest useful variable of consumer values in future clothing behaviors research.
