This study aimed at exploring the system of reverse logistics for clothing, which refers to the whole process of moving clothes from their final destination for the purpose of capturing value or for proper disposal. In-depth interviews were conducted with stakeholders of reverse logistics system for clothing. Out of 51 individuals contacted, 12 participated in the research, resulting in 23.5% response rate. All the stages in Korean reverse logistic system for clothing were identified, but the flow of the resources in the system was not smooth and the collectors were often illegal or unauthorized companies. Domestic markets for reused or refurbished clothing were limited, and most of the products on this stage were exported. In general, collectors and exporters of reused clothes emphasized economic value over environmental value in their business when compared to manufacturer. Most participants acknowledged the importance of information exchange, but little social interaction was found among stakeholders.
The objectives of this study were to investigate the need for school uniform recycling and to review the school uniform recycling-related education. 231 female high school students were asked to answer regarding the wearing state of school uniform and their satisfaction level. 10 subjects in middle school technology/home economy were evaluated. As the result, the students wore 1~2 pieces of school uniform, which showed that it was hard to keep them clean by washing them often. The satisfaction level of school uniform was not high, The lowest item was the price. Therefore, to increase the satisfaction level of the school uniforms and also to increase the sanitary level of the school uniforms, it was advisable to purchase a recycled school uniform at cheaper prices to have an extra set. For a vitalization of the recycled school uniforms, the middle school technology/home economy subjects were reviewed. In the topic of "clothing acquisition plan and purchase", the themes of planned purchase, overconsumption of clothing and environmental pollution were discussed and included preferable behaviors for disposal. The topic of "clothing manufacturing and recycling" listed recycling the clothes that are not worn or exchanging them with neighbors as well as suggesting methods to illicit environment-friendly behaviors and carrying them out. However, some textbooks only briefly explained the methods of recycling and more detailed and practical methods need to be suggested in the curriculum. In addition, the contents regarding the environment in the clothing topic need to be supplemented more and more changes, such as related education plans or data development, are required. The consumption in the clothing's living has been diversified and rich by the increase in pay, the ostentatious propensity to consume and the diversification of distribution on structure in accordance with the advance of clothing industries, etc. The clothing, however, was not used properly due to the thoughtless purchase, the sudden change of fashion and the difficulty in the use and management of clothing. Most rural communities, furthermore, have the poor market, and the unreasonable management could be often observed, e.g., some people don't follow the care label or burn the clothing to waste. This study was conducted to provide the tool measuring the standardized clothing management behaviors so that the systematic and effective instruction could be achieved to improve the living standards 623 rural and urban housewives to develop the tool measuring the standardized clothing management to compare and measure the effect of before and after the education and guide all the way. And then, we developed the standardized measurement tool consisting of 6 parts of 60 questions after analyzing the validation and reliability of the questions. As a result of analyzing the validation and reliability of the developed tool, each Conbach alpha value of clothing living showed the good reliability; the value of the purchase plan was 0.76, the purchase was 0.83, the wear was 0.80, the management was 0.84, the storage was 0.83, and the disposal was 0.74, which indicated that it was able to use as a standardized tool.
The environment has increasingly attracted attention and fashion brands need to use new growth models by developing eco-friendly products, along with the drastic climate change. This study drew design guidelines from the factors of clothing disposal and reuse to propose ways to extend the longevity of clothing. It sets the design goals for the longevity extension of clothing as flexibility, originality, durability, and adjustability and drew a specific design guideline. The design methods used to achieve such goals are as follows. First, the design that is flexible in terms of physical changes needs to increase its activity and to be changeable, by applying pleats, rubber bands and elastic materials to the parts with many physical changes and movements. Second, it is necessary to reinforce the brand identity, create design that is flexible in terms of fashion and design very rare and attractive products, for the goal of original design beyond fashion. Third, it is necessary to increase the quality of clothing and improve the durability which can be decreased by washing and wearing. Fourth, it is necessary to create the design that can produce various styles, preserve the state of clothing and maintain its hygienic conditions by using removable detailed designs, shape-transformation designs and the designs which can be adjusted to climate changes and states, for the goal of adjustable design with better functionality. The findings provide ideas for fashion experts to pay more attention to the extending the longevity of clothing products and to develop eco-friendly designs and strategies.
The satisfaction of wearing an outfit in daily life can lead to the attitude toward the clothes and further the brand image and repeat purchases; however, satisfaction generated from the moment the outfit was purchased is only temporary. Therefore, it would be necessary to study the antecedent variables that precede daily outfit satisfaction. In the current study, to understand the antecedent variables that influence the daily outfit satisfaction of consumers, in-depth interviews were conducted on thirteen women in their 20s and 30s. The results showed that peoples' outfit satisfaction was dependent on a comparison between their prior expectation and the performance of the outfit based on expectation-performance disconfirmation. The outfit performance was evaluated by themselves or others. Simultaneously, it was found that the others' opinion on the clothes and surroundings influence daily outfit satisfaction. This research helps deepen the understanding on the individual and social influential factors of the temporary satisfaction from purchase to the satisfaction of actually using clothes. This result ultimately intensifies the understanding on the consumption and evaluation of clothes in the whole life cycle of clothing products from purchase to disposal.

The decommissioning of nuclear facilities produces various types of radiologically contaminated waste. In addition, dismantlement activities, including cutting, packing, and clean-up at the facility site, result in secondary radioactive waste such as filters, resin, plastic, and clothing. Determining of the radionuclide content of this waste is an important step for the determination of a suitable management strategy including classification and disposal. In this work, we radiochemically characterized the radionuclide activities of filters used during the decommissioning of Korea Research Reactors (KRRs) 1 and 2. The results indicate that the filter samples contained mainly 3H (500-3,600 Bq·g-1), 14C (7.5-29 Bq·g-1), 55Fe (1.1- 7.1 Bq·g-1), 59Ni (0.60-1.0 Bq·g-1), 60Co (0.74-70 Bq·g-1), 63Ni (0.60-94 Bq·g-1), 90Sr (0.25-5.0 Bq·g-1), 137Cs (0.64-8.7 Bq·g-1), and 152Eu (0.19-2.9) Bq·g-1. In addition, the gross alpha radioactivity of the samples was measured to be between 0.32-1.1 Bq·g-1. The radionuclide concentrations were below the concentration limit stated in the low- and intermediatelevel waste acceptance criteria of the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, and used for the disposal of the KRRs waste drums to a repository site.
This study was aimed at finding the effects of consumer experience related to experience providers of apparel companies on brand loyalty. A total of 285 questionnaires were used for the survey of this study. Methods of data analysis included. The result of this study revealed the 9 factors of experience providers in apparel companies: co-branding, advertising, visual/verbal identity & signage, design & quality, physical environment, people, emotional environment, websites, and sales promotion. The 5 factors of consumer experiences were behavioral experience, relational experience, affective experience, intellectual experience, and sensory experience. The experience providers of the apparel company had a significant impact on consumer experience of SPA, such as behavioral experience, sensory experience, affective experience, intellectual experience and relational experience. Of all, consumer experience of SPA as well as behavioral, sensory and affective experiences had a positive impact on brand loyalty. In conclusion, experience providers, at the disposal of the apparel company, are tactical implementation components for creating consumer experience. Therefore, the marketing strategy of apparel companies should be focused on eliciting affirmative responses from consumers.
The fashion system has been criticized for relying on a linear economy to reduce short-term costs and increase profits. Meanwhile, the circular economy strives to expand the value chain through a closed loop for companies, society, and the environment by separating consumption from resources. This study aims to elucidate the strategic characteristics of the technological measures that fashion companies and brands are trying to innovate into a sustainable fashion system on the basis of the circular economy concept. Thus, we conducted case studies by dividing the value chain of the fashion system into design, production, and consumption to identify the technological development of the circular fashion system from a technologization perspective that incorporates technological values. First, design appeared to strengthen emotional durability, design and process with circulation in mind, and fashion product digitalization. Second, production manifested itself as material development for the new fiber economy, improvement of non-environmental processes, and customization of demand-driven, responsive production. Third, consumption was the spread of the environmental consumption culture through the sharing economy platform, the realization of a virtual wearing experience to prevent rapid disposal, and the provision of information on sustainable consumption.
Sustainability in fashion pertains to all stages within the product lifecycle, starting with the procurement of raw materials and ending with the disposal of the product. To clarify, the Lifecycle Management (LCM) views the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) from the perspective of a product's lifecycle. Sustainable products are identified based on their lifecycle, causing public attention to turn towards Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). As of now, PLM is largely known to have a strong impact on New Product Development (NPD). As such, the objective of this research is to study how PLM-based sustainable NPD models, when applied to the fashion industry, can produce a wide understanding of sustainable fashion products from a variety of angles. In order to achieve the research objective, this study did a selective case study on 20 sustainable fashion brands; conducted 1:1 in-depth interviews with 24 fashion experts, including both sustainable and non-sustainable experts; and took part in participant observation of 5 sustainable fashion brands. The results of the study indicate that there are specific conditions that must be met at each stage of production for the development of sustainable products by fashion brands. However, due to the lack of technological skills and the dearth of sustainability experts within the organization, management, monitoring and systematic collection of data is not properly implemented - leading to problems with the quantification of crucial data. This study aims to further forward the debate regarding the development of sustainable fashion products and its future implications.
