  • A semi-closed loop ground heat exchanger is proposed and its performance is compared through the measuring the effective thermal conductivity of the ground. In-situ tests based on the line source model are carried out to evaluate the thermal characteristics of each ground heat exchanger which has different penetration water flow rate. The test results show the increasing effective thermal conductivity of ground as the penetration water flow rate(PWFR) is increased. Therefore, the higher thermal performance of the proposed semi-closed ground heat exchanger can be expected.

  • Model updating method is known to the area to correct finite element models by the results of the experimental modal analysis. Most common methods in model updating depend on a parametric model of the structure. In this case, the number of parameters is normally smaller than that of modal data obtained from an experiment. In order to overcome this limitation, many researchers are trying to get modal data as many as possible to date. 1 want to name this method multiple modified-system generation method. These Methods consist of direct system modification method and feedback controller method. The direct system modification Is to add a mass or stiffness on the original structure or perturb the boundary conditions. The feedback controller method is to make the closed food system with sensor and actuator so as to get the closed loop modal data. In this paper, we need to focus on the feedback controller method because of its simplicity. Several methods related the feedback controller methods are virtual passive controller (VPC) sensitivity enhancement controller (SEC) and mode decoupling controller (MDC). Among them, we will apply MDC to the model updating problem. MDC has various advantages compared with other controllers, such as VPC and SEC. To begin with, only the target mode can be changed without changing modal property of non-target modes. In addition, it is possible to fix any modes if the number of sensors is equal to that of the system modes. Finally, the required control power to achieve desired change of target mode is always lower than those of other methods such as VPC. However, MDC can make the closed loop system unstable when using incomplete modal data. So we need to take action to avoid undesirable instability from incomplete modal data. In this paper, we address the method to design the unique and robust MDD obtained from incomplete modal data. The associated simulation will be Incorporated to demonstrate the usefulness of this method.

  • In this work an integrated model for paper plants combining wet-end and dry section is developed and a model predictive control scheme based on the plant model is proposed. Closed-loop process identification method is employed to produce a state-space model. Thick stock, filler flow, machine speed and steam pressure are selected as input variables and basis weight, ash content and moisture content are considered as output variables. The desired output trajectory is constructed in the form of 1st-order dynamics. Results of simulations for control of grade change operations are compared with plant operation data collected during the grade change operations under the same conditions as in simulations. From the comparison, we can see that the proposed model predictive control scheme reduces the grade change time and achieves stable steady-state.

  • In this study, the regression models (Load ESTimator and eight-parameter model) were evaluated to estimate instantaneous pollutant loads under various criteria and optimization methods. As shown in the results, LOADEST commonly used in interpolating pollutant loads could not necessarily provide the best results with the automatic selected regression model. It is inferred that the various regression models in LOADEST need to be considered to find the best solution based on the characteristics of watersheds applied. The recently developed eight-parameter model integrated with Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Gradient Descent Method (GDM) were also compared with LOADEST indicating that the eight-parameter model performed better than LOADEST, but it showed different behaviors in calibration and validation. The eight-parameter model with GDM could reproduce the nitrogen loads properly outside of calibration period (validation). Furthermore, the accuracy and precision of model estimations were evaluated using various criteria (e.g., $R^2$ and gradient and constant of linear regression line). The results showed higher precisions with the $R^2$ values closed to 1.0 in LOADEST and better accuracy with the constants (in linear regression line) closed to 0.0 in the eight-parameter model with GDM. In hence, based on these finding we recommend that users need to evaluate the regression models under various criteria and calibration methods to provide the more accurate and precise results for pollutant load estimations.

  • The decrease in the school-age population caused the closure of private universities, but the guidelines at closed private universities are ambiguous, causing confusion. Therefore, this study intends to suggest a plan to utilize the closed school university. The government aims to increase the possibility of selling closed schools by preventing alley slums through the recovery of alley commercial districts and local communities. The data were collected through a Google survey from September 30 to October 8, 2021 and an on-site interview conducted on October 2, 2021. A total of 84 nearby citizens of the closed school university were surveyed, and on-site interviews were conducted with a total of five people. The collected data suggested the direction of utilization plan for closed school building. This study will present a model for the use of closed school property in the future and contribute to the establishment of urban regeneration policies.

  • Electro-Mechanical Ignition Safety Device(EMISD) for solid rocket motor is designed and manufactured. The EMISD utilizes a true rotary solenoid for arming mechanism and an electric squib(initiator) for generating ignition energy. In order to prove the ignition capability of the EMISD, 10-cc Closed Bomb Test(CBT) is performed, which measures the pressure built by high temperature and high pressure gas generated by operating EMISD. The pressure built in the free volume of 10-cc closed bomb and the opening time of the ignition gas outlet are calculated using one dimensional gas dynamic model which is composed of the ideal gas equation and mass-energy conservation equation. Comparing the test result with model prediction, it is realized that the pressure built in the free volume of closed bomb due to the firing of EMISD, has the efficiency ratio of about 34%.

  • The geochemical experiments were carried out to investigate a removal effect of heavy metals in abdndoned metallic mine wastes, and to conceive a treatment techniques of them. In order to prevent contamination, experiment appature was made of acrylic acid resin and polyethylene which resist to acid and alkali. Experiment models are devided into four groups based on the system environments, distribution patterns and a kind of filling materials. The first group is background model(model I ) which is filled with waste only and opened to air. The second one is four layer group which is subdivided into two models, opened and closed systems, and the third mix group which is subdivided into three models based on mixing ratio of filling materials and system environment like a layered group. The forth is composed of two layer model, lower one composed of waste and upper one limestone chips. Solution drained from Model Ishows a high contents of heavy metals on the all terms of experiments. Among the models, however, the closed mix model V and Ⅶ show the most effective removal of heavy metals liberated from wastes. Models having different mixing ratios of filling materials on closed systems does not affect in heavy metal removal effect. But, the distribution patterns of filling materials affect very much on removal effect of heavy metals. The closed models with same constitution ratios and distribution patterns of filling materials show more and less effective removal to the open models.

  • Modelling the energy release performance of energetic material combustion in closed systems is of fundamental importance for aerospace and defense application. In particular, to compensate for the disadvantage of the combustion of single energetic material and maximize the benefits, a method of combusting the mixed energetic materials is used. However, since complicated heat transfer occurs when the energetic material is combusted, it is difficult to theoretically predict the combustion performance. Here, we suggest a theoretical model to estimate the energy release performance of mixed energetic material based on the model for the combustion performance of single energetic material. To confirm the effect of parameters on the model, and to gain insights into the combustion characteristics of the energetic material, we studied parameter analysis on the reaction temperature and the characteristic time scales of energy generation and loss. To validate the model, model predictions for mixed energetic materials are compared to experimental results depending on the amount and type of energetic material. The comparison showed little difference in maximum pressure and the reliability of the model was validated. Finally, we hope that the suggested model can predict the energy release performance of single or mixed energetic material for various types of materials, as well as the energetic materials used for validation.

  • In this paper, thermal reliability of a closed type BLDC (Brushless DC) motor for high speed axial fan was analyzed by the accelerated life test. The closed type BLDC (Model No. MB1-8855-J01) motor was controlled by PCB module, which was composed of various electrical components. The failure of the closed type BLDC motor happened in PCB module due to high temperature. Failure mechanism of the closed type BLDC motor appears to be electrolyte dry out of capacitor. The accelerate life test was performed in temperature stress of $85^{\circ}C\;and\;105^{\circ}C$, respectively The failure data from the accelerated life test were analyzed and the life in each stress level was estimated with 960h and 261 h. At last, both life expression according to operating temperature of PCB module and life of the closed type BLBC motor in normal condition $(50^{\circ}C)$ were suggested.

  • In this note, a separation principle of the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy-model-based controller/observer is investigated. The separation principle of T-S fuzzy-model-based controller/observer sharing the premise parts in the fuzzy rule with directly measurable premise variables is well established. In that case, the fact that the augmented observer-based control system has the eigenvalues of the sub-closed-loop control system by the state-feedback controller and the sub-closed-loop observer error system is used to prove the separation principle. This paper studies the separation principle of T-S fuzzy-model-based controller/observer in which the premise variables cannot be directly measurable.
