Caffe를 이용한 얼굴 인식 파이프라인 모델 구현 (Implementation of Face Recognition Pipeline Model using Caffe)

  • 제안 모델은 얼굴 검출과 랜드마크 및 얼굴 인식 알고리즘을 이용하여 인공신경망으로 학습을 통해 얼굴 예측률과 인식률을 향상하는 모델을 구현하였다. 제안 모델은 특정 인물의 얼굴 영상에서 랜드마킹을 한 후, 기존에 학습된 Caffe 모델을 이용하여 얼굴검출과 임베딩 벡터 128D를 추출하였다. 학습은 기계학습 알고리즘인 SVM (support vector machine)과 DNN (deep neural network)을 구축하여 학습하였다. 얼굴인식은 학습된 모델을 이용하여 학습된 인물 중 다른 얼굴 영상으로 테스트하였다. 실험 결과, SVM 보다는 DNN으로 학습한 결과가 우수한 예측률과 인식률을 보였다. DNN의 중간층을 증가하게 되면 예측률은 높아지나 인식률이 감소하는 현상이 발생하였다. 이것은 인식하고자 하는 대상이 적음으로써 발생하는 과적합으로 판단된다. 제안 모델은 명확한 얼굴 영상을 추가하여 학습한 결과, 높은 예측률과 인식률의 결과를 얻을 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 좀 더 많은 얼굴 영상 데이터를 이용함으로써 보다 효과적인 딥러닝 구축을 통해 보다 향상된 인식률과 예측률을 얻을 수 있을 것이다.

Correlation Between the “seeing FWHM” of Satellite Optical Observations and Meteorological Data at the OWL-Net Station, Mongolia

  • The correlation between meteorological data collected at the optical wide-field patrol network (OWL-Net) Station No. 1 and the seeing of satellite optical observation data was analyzed. Meteorological data and satellite optical observation data from June 2014 to November 2015 were analyzed. The analyzed meteorological data were the outdoor air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and cloud index data, and the analyzed satellite optical observation data were the seeing full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) data. The annual meteorological pattern for Mongolia was analyzed by collecting meteorological data over four seasons, with data collection beginning after the installation and initial set-up of the OWL-Net Station No. 1 in Mongolia. A comparison of the meteorological data and the seeing of the satellite optical observation data showed that the seeing degrades as the wind strength increases and as the cloud cover decreases. This finding is explained by the bias effect, which is caused by the fact that the number of images taken on the less cloudy days was relatively small. The seeing FWHM showed no clear correlation with either temperature or relative humidity.

Intracranial Metaplastic Meningioma : Clinical and Radio-logical Characteristics of 11 Cases

  • Objective : Metaplastic meningioma is an extremely rare subtype of World Health Organization (WHO) grade I meningioma. It has distinctive histological subtypes according to its own mesenchymal components. Owing to its scarcity, clinical or radiological features of a metaplastic meningioma are poorly described. Methods : Between 2004 and 2018, we analyzed total 1814 cases surgically proven meningioma for 15 years. Among them, metaplastic meningioma was diagnosed in 11 cases. Magnetic resonance images were taken for all patients, and computed tomography scan was taken for 10 patients. Results : WHO grade I meningiomas were 1376 cases (75.9%), 354 cases (19.5%) in WHO grade II, and 84 cases (4.6%) in WHO grade III meningiomas. Metaplastic meningioma was 11 cases as 0.8% of WHO grade I meningioma and 0.6% of entire meningiomas for 15 years. Among the entire 11 metaplastic meningiomas, five tumors (45%) were diagnosed as a lipomatous subtype with rich fat components, four (36%) as an osseous subtype with extensive bone formation and two (18%) as a xanthomatous subtype. There was no cartilaginous subtype metaplastic meningioma in our study. Lipomatous and osseous metaplastic meningioma have peculiar radiological characteristics according to mesenchymal components. Conclusion : We investigated a rare metaplastic meningioma subtype based on our 15-year surgical experience with meningiomas. Further investigation will be necessary for the clear clarification of tumor nature of this rare tumor.

남산2호터널 조형물 설계 (Landscape Design for Renovation of the Second Namsan Tunnel)

  • The Second Namsan Tunnel required renovation. The landscape design was conducted as part of the comprehensive programs for renovation. The landscape design covered site analysis, design development, a working drawing and a maintenance plan. In May of 2001, the Second Namsan Tunnel was renovated and reopened to traffic. The tunnel was recreated as a new type of tunnel with function and beauty. The entrance and retaining wall of the tunnel has public character. Users are greatly affected by the entrance and retaining walls along roads. The landscape architect had to find new materials and methods to improve the environment and to combine artwork with the entrance and walls of the tunnel. The surface of the tunnel entrance and retaining walls are artistically treated with ceramic tiles and paint. Various regional characteristics and cultural meaning are symbolically expressed. Or the tunnel entrance from the Joong-gu side, entitled "Glory of the Future", the hibiscus symbolizes the bright and glorious future of Korea. On the retaining walls, entitled "Hope", the promising Joong-gu is symbolized through image of Korean magpies, mountains, rocks, roses, winds and nature. As for the tunnel entrance from the Yongsan-gu side, entitled "Vivid Spirit", pine trees symbolize the Koreans′strong will and an enterprising spirit. On the retaining walls, entitled "Lively Motions", Yongsan-gu is symbolized through image of pigeons, mountains, rocks, roses, winds and clear skys. The entrance and retaining wall of the Second Namsan Tunnel, whose surfaces are treated with tiles and paint with artistic value, would create an atmosphere using large-scale wall paintings. In this artwork, users would perceive a unique sense of place through the symbolic images of the vertical planes of the tunnel.

전역 임계치 벡터의 유전적 진화에 기반한 적응형 배경차분화 (Adaptive Background Subtraction Based on Genetic Evolution of the Global Threshold Vector)

  • 주어진 배경 이미지로부터 전경 객체를 분리하는 것을 목표로 하는 배경 차분화 기법에 관한 많은 연구가 있어 왔다. 최근에 발표된 몇 가지 통계 기반 배경 차분화 기법들은 동적인 환경에서 동작할 수 있을 정도로 안정된 성능을 보이는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 그러나 이들 기법은 일반적으로 매우 많은 계산 자원을 요구하며, 객체의 명확한 윤곽을 획득하는데 있어서는 아직 어려움이 있다. 본 논문에서는 점진적으로 변화하는 배경을 모델링하기 위해 복잡한 통계 기법을 적용하는 대신 간단한 이동-평균 기법을 사용한다. 또한 픽셀별로 할당되는 다중의 임계치 대신 유전자 학습에 의해 최적화되는 하나의 전역적 임계치를 사용한다. 유전자 학습을 위해 새로운 적합도 함수를 정의하여 학습하고 이를 이용하여 이미지의 분할 결과들을 평가한다. 본 논문의 시스템은 웹 카메라가 장착된 개인용 컴퓨터에서 구현하였으며, 실사 이미지들에 대한 실험 결과에 의하면 기존의 가우시안 믹스쳐 방식보다 우수한 성능을 보이는 것으로 나타났다.

Fresh water impact on chlorophyll a distribution at northeast coast of the Bay of Bengal analyzed through in-situ and satellite data

  • The distribution of phytoplankton pigments were studied bimonthly at four stations from the mouth of Mahanadi River at Paradip to the 36.7km off coast in Bay of Bengal during April 2001 to December 2002. Bottom depth was shallower than 40m in all stations. The pigment concentration of Chl-a was measured. It increased from surface to bottom in the water column. The water column integrated chlorophyll-a concentration (Chl-a) varied between 6.1 and $48.5mg{\cdot}m-^2$ with peaks during monsoon period (Aug & Oct). Spatial distribution of salinity depended strongly on freshwater runoff. The salinity was 5psu at river mouth and 25.15psu at offshore in monsoon period; however it was 30psu at the river mouth in summer. We found a linear relationship between the amount of river discharge and integrated Chl-a in coastal region from 2 years observations. Extending this result, we analyzed rainfall and coastal Chl-a using satellite data. The relationship between the river discharge and monthly accumulated rainfall estimated from TRMM and others data sources was analyzed in 2001 and 2002 using Giovanni infrastructure provided by NASA. The result depended on the specified area on TRMM images; the river delta area had sharper relationship than wider rain catchments area. Moreover, the relationship between monthly averaged Chl-a derived from SeaWiFS and monthly accumulated rainfall estimated from TRMM was analyzed from 1998 to 2005. It was clear that the broom in monsoon period was strongly controlled by rainfall on river delta.

Nature-based Tourism in Small Islands Adjacent to Jakarta City, Indonesia: A case study from Seribu Islands

  • In this paper, the nature-based tourism is described as one of the tools to achieve sustainable development in small islands. The study was carried out at Ayer, Bidadari and Onrust Islands of Kepulauan Seribu chains at Jakarta Bay, Indonesia. While the historical records show that previous uses of such islands have started at sixteen century, tourism uses was started at the beginning of 1970s. Among nature-based tourism destination in Kepulauan Seribu chains, these islands are the famous destinations and received a lot of tourists. Tourism growth at these islands has stimulated development of numerous tourism facilities and infrastructure to meet visitor satisfaction. It is observed in this study that island's site-plan destination design has contributed to the successful and sustainability of tourism in small island. The key success lies on the successful integration and implementation of three substantial perspectives into practices, namely economic, ecosystem and social perspectives. First, in order to enhance economic benefits, a site-plan design allowing floating cottages establishment to extent room availability, to build strong images as tropical paradise islands, and to enhance tourist satisfaction with the objectives of improving income and sustaining tourist loyalty to the destination. This design is also reducing land risk from tourism impact and it becomes the significant key of second perspective, the ecosystem perspective. Moreover, the ecosystem perspective has been implemented through native vegetation preservation that led island's wildlife conservation and became potential tourism attraction. The design also develops effective mechanism to manage and regulate visitor flows by establishing visitor track corridors. In implementation, such corridor plays an important role to reduce tourist density in single places and therefore become instrument to reduce severe visitor impact to wildlife, vegetation and heritages of islands. Third, the social aspect of development allowing heritages to conserve and furthermore serve numerous benefits for education, socio-political, culture, and historical studies. Through this study, it is clear that the success of these islands to continuous tourism growth lies on the island's vision to integrate economic, ecosystem and social perspectives on tourism development.

2000년 이후 한국 남녀 패션 잡지에 표현된 여성성과 남성성에 관한 연구 (A Study of Femininity and Masculinity Represented in Men's and Women's Fashion Magazine in Korea since 2000)

  • The purpose of this study is to typify femininity and masculinity represented in mainstream women's and men's fashion magazines in Korea since 2000 and infer sexual ideology appearing in contemporary Korean society by content analysis with the view of plural sexuality. For the content analysis total 259 editorial fashion photography was analyzed. As the result, 5 femininities and 5 masculinities were typified, and then sexual discourse was inferred out of the frequency of each type and texts with the images. On the basis of previous studies and historical considerations of this topic, the types of sexuality represented in mainstream fashion magazines in Korea since 2000 were classified as follow.: in women's fashion magazines Traditional Femininity and Androgynous Femininity were almost similarily dominant sexuality, and Glamor Femininity, Babydoll Femininity, and Genderless sexuality were alternative. Meanwhile, in men's fashion magazines Traditional Masculinity formed clear dominant sexuality, and Macho Masculinity, Androgynous Masculinity, Adolescent Masculinity, and Genderless sexuality were alternatives. In addition, Androgynous Masculinity in women's fashion magazines occupied the highest frequency, while Glamor Femininity in men's fashion magazines did so. From this sexual discourses represented in mainstream fashion magazines in Korea since 2000 are as follow.: First, mainstream fashion in Korea sticks to the modern values preserving traditional sexual ideology even in this postmodern period of the former 21C. Second, Androgynous Femininity as another dominant femininity with Traditional Femininity connotes the change of conception of femininity in Korean society. Third, Androgynous Masculinity to females is preferred, while femininity to males is still regarded as fetish or adorned object. Fourth, the appearance of various alternative sexualities leads to pluralization of sexuality, and then fashion gradually codifies youthfulness and feminine values, such as body and sexual desire more than before.

미디어에 나타난 남성의 이미지와 메이크업의 사회문화적 가치 분석 (The Sociocultural Value Research of Man Image and Make-up in Media)

  • 본 연구에서는 현대 사회의 변화로 주목받고 있는 남성의 선호 이미지와 가치를 규명하고 미디어에 등장하는 인물을 통해 남성 메이크업이 현대 사회문화적 가치를 어떻게 충족시키고 있는지 알아보고자 한다. 연구 방법으로는 우선 문헌 자료와 인터넷을 중심으로 남성의 선호 이미지와 사회문화적 가치를 고찰하였다. 다음으로, 디자인 요소를 중심으로 미디어에 등장한 인물을 통해 남성 메이크업 사례를 비교 분석하였다. 첫째, 실용적 가치는 목적 지향적인 행동을 위한 합리적 사용의 기술적, 도구적 가치이다. 실용적 가치를 강조한 메이크업은 밝고 내추럴한 피부 표현, 최대한 자제된 색조의 연출, 진한 아이브로우 색상의 사용으로 표현되었다. 둘째, 미적 가치는 순수한 미적 가치만을 추구하는 표현적, 장식적 가치이다. 셋째, 상징적 가치는 역사와 사회에서 체험되는 의지적, 의도적 가치이다. 이는 남성들의 구매행동 동기를 설명하는데 있어 중요한 기준이 되는 선호 이미지를 이해하고 이미지 관리 형태에 대한 분석과 향후 남성들의 뷰티 트렌드를 유추하는데 실질적인 기초 자료로 활용 될 수 있으리라 사료된다.

시차 보정에 의한 수평이동방식 입체카메라의 자동제어 (Automatic Control of Horizontal-moving Stereoscopic Camera by Disparity Compensation)

  • 본 논문에서는 주시각과 초점을 동시에 제어할 수 있는 수평이동방식 입체카메라를 설계/제작하고, 이를 자동으로 제어하기 위한 시차정보 추출 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 먼저 수평이동방식 입체카메라의 기하학적 구조를 분석하여 주시각과 초점 제어량 사이의 선형관계를 도출하였으며, 이를 근거로 주시각과 초점이 동시 제어되는 입체카메라를 설계/제작하였다. 그리고, 1차원 Cepstrum 필터를 이용한 시차정보 추출 알고리즘을 적용하여, 주시각과 초점이 동시에 자동 제어되는 입체카메라 시스템을 구현하였다. 제안한 알고리즘은 기존의 알고리즘에 비해 시차 추출시간 및 에러율에서 우수한 성능을 보임을 확인하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 입체카메라 시스템은 제어시간 및 에러율을 크게 줄여 자연스럽고 선명한 입체영상을 획득할 수 있게 하였으며, 입체카메라 조작을 단순화시킴으로서 사용자의 편리성을 추구하였다.
