Prediction of lightweight concrete strength by categorized regression, MLR and ANN

  • Prediction of concrete properties is an important issue for structural engineers and different methods are developed for this purpose. Most of these methods are based on experimental data and use measured data for parameter estimation. Three typical methods of output estimation are Categorized Linear Regression (CLR), Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). In this paper a statistical cleansing method based on CLR is introduced. Afterwards, MLR and ANN approaches are also employed to predict the compressive strength of structural lightweight aggregate concrete. The valid input domain is briefly discussed. Finally the results of three prediction methods are compared to determine the most efficient method. The results indicate that despite higher accuracy of ANN, there are some limitations for the method. These limitations include high sensitivity of method to its valid input domain and selection criteria for determining the most efficient network.

대장내시경 검사 전 걷기 운동이 장세척액 복용 시 불편감과 대장 정결도에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Walking on Discomfort and Colon Cleansing during Colon Lavage before Colonoscopy)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of walking on discomfort and colon cleansing for patients having a colon lavage solution before colonoscopy. Methods: This study was a nonequivalent control group post test design. The participants were 89 patients (experimental group: 47, control group: 42) who underwent colonoscopy at G hospital in Incheon. The two groups put on step counter for an hour while taking the colon lavage solution. The experimental group was made up of patients who walked over 3,000 steps and the control group of those who walked less than 3,000 steps. Discomfort was measured using VAS and colon cleansing was measured by a specialist. Collected data were analyzed using $x^2-test$, t-test with SPSS/PC+ window version 15.0. Results: Walking while taking the colon lavage solution decreases abdominal pain before colonoscopy. Also one hour after taking the colon lavage solution, decreased nausea, abdominal pain and discomfort were found in the group which walked over 3,000 steps. Concluson: Based on the above findings, adequate walking can be used as a nursing intervention to increase comfort in patients undergoing colonoscopy.

청천시 오수량을 고려한 합류식 하수도 소류력 설계법과 이를 활용한 하수관거 개보수방안 (A combined sewer design method using tractive force considering wastewater flow on non-rainy days and its application for improvement methods of sewer)

  • When domestic sewage and rainwater runoff are discharged into a single sewer pipe, it is called a "combined sewer system." The sewage design standards in Korea specify the flow velocity based only on the volume of rainfall; therefore, sedimentation occurs on non-rainy days owing to the reduced flow rate and velocity. This sedimentation reduces the discharge capacity, causes unpleasant odors, and exacerbates the problem of combined sewer overflow concentration. To address this problem, the amount of sewage on non-rainy days, not just the volume of rainfall, should also be considered. There are various theories on sedimentation in sewer movement. This study introduces a self-cleansing velocity based on tractive force theory. By applying a self-cleansing velocity equivalent to the critical shear stress of a sand particle, sedimentation can be reduced on non-rainy days. The amount of sewage changes according to the water use pattern of citizens. The design hourly maximum wastewater flow was considered as a representative value, and the velocity of this flow should be more than the self-cleansing velocity. This design method requires a steeper gradient than existing design criteria. Therefore, the existing sewer pipelines need to be improved and repaired accordingly. In this study, five types of improvement and repair methods that can maximize the use of existing pipelines and minimize the depth of excavation are proposed. The key technologies utilized are trenchless sewer rehabilitation and complex cross-section pipes. Trenchless sewer rehabilitation is a popular sewage repair method. However, it is complex because the cross-section pipes do not have a universal design and require continuous research and development. In an old metropolis with a combined sewer system, it is difficult to carry out excavation work; hence, the methods presented in this study may be useful in the future.

CacheSCDefender: VMM-based Comprehensive Framework against Cache-based Side-channel Attacks

  • Cache-based side-channel attacks have achieved more attention along with the development of cloud computing technologies. However, current host-based mitigation methods either provide bad compatibility with current cloud infrastructure, or turn out too application-specific. Besides, they are defending blindly without any knowledge of on-going attacks. In this work, we present CacheSCDefender, a framework that provides a (Virtual Machine Monitor) VMM-based comprehensive defense framework against all levels of cache attacks. In designing CacheSCDefender, we make three key contributions: (1) an attack-aware framework combining our novel dynamic remapping and traditional cache cleansing, which provides a comprehensive defense against all three cases of cache attacks that we identify in this paper; (2) a new defense method called dynamic remapping which is a developed version of random permutation and is able to deal with two cases of cache attacks; (3) formalization and quantification of security improvement and performance overhead of our defense, which can be applicable to other defense methods. We show that CacheSCDefender is practical for deployment in normal virtualized environment, while providing favorable security guarantee for virtual machines.

A STUDY ON SURFACE ALTERATION OF IMPLANT SCREWS AFTER FUNCTION

  • Statement of problem. Surface alteration of the implant screws after function may be associated with mechanical failure. Theses metal fatigue appears to be the most common cause of structural failure. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to evaluate surface alteration of the implant screws after function through the examination of used and unused implant screws in SEM(scanning electron microscope). Materials and methods. In this study, abutment screws(Steri-oss, 3i), gold retaining screw(3i) and titanium retaining screw(3i) were retrieved from patients. New, unused abutment and retaining screws were prepared for control group. Each of the old, used screws was retrieved with a screwdriver. And retrieved implant complex of Steri-oss system was prepared for this study. Then, SEM investigation and EDS analysis of abutment and retaining screws were performed. And SEM investigation of cross-sectioned sample of retrieved implant complex was performed. Results. In the case of new, unused implant screws, as maunfactured circumferential grooves are regularly examined and screw thread are sharply remained. Before ultrasonic cleansing of old, used implant screw, a lot of accumulation and corrosion products were existed. After ultrasonic cleansing of old, used implant screws, circumferential grooves as examined before function were randomly deepened and scratches increased. Also, dull screw thread was examined. More surface alterations after function were examined in titanium screw than gold screw. And more surface alteration was examined when retrieved with driver than retrieved without driver. Conclusions. These surface alteration after function may result in the screw instability. Regularly cleansing and exchange of screws was recommended. We recommend the use of gold screw rather than titanium screw, and careful manipulation of the driver.

Chemical cleansing as an adjunct to subgingival instrumentation with ultrasonic and hand devices in deep periodontal pockets: a randomized controlled study

  • Purpose: The aim of this randomized clinical trial was to assess whether chemical cleansing using a sulfonic/sulfuric acid gel solution (HBX) as an adjunct to scaling and root planing (SRP) resulted in a decrease in residual plaque and calculus in deep periodontal pockets compared to SRP alone. Methods: Fifty-six patients with 56 hopeless posterior teeth, scheduled for extraction due to severe periodontitis, were enrolled in this study. Each tooth was randomly assigned to 1 of the 2 experimental procedures. The test teeth were subjected to the irrigation of the subgingival area with HBX for 2 minutes, followed by SRP with hand and ultrasonic instruments for 14 minutes, and then extracted. The control teeth received only mechanical instrumentation before extraction. Residual biofilm was evaluated on photographs and measured as total area and percentage of root surface covered by remaining plaque (RP) or calculus (RC) after treatment. Results: The initial pocket depth (PD) and total subgingival root surface area were similar between the 2 treatment groups. After treatment, the total subgingival root area covered by RP and RC was statistically significantly larger (P<0.001) in the control group than in the test group. The test teeth showed a lower percentage of RP, but a higher percentage of RC than the control teeth (both P<0.001). Complete calculus removal was achieved in 42% of the control teeth surfaces and in 25% of the test teeth surfaces for a PD of 4 mm. Conclusions: The additional chemical cleansing with HBX resulted in a statistically significant improvement in bacterial plaque removal during SRP of deep pockets, but it was not effective in reducing calculus deposits.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 오 결측 데이터 분석 기법인 평균 대체법, 상관계수 수치분석, 그래프 상관성 분석 및 통계 전문가 분석 등 통계적 방법으로 대체 가능성을 조사하여 정수처리 공정에서 계측되는 각종 이상 데이터를 정제하기 위한 방법을 다양한 분석연구로 진행하였다. 또한 물 정보 데이터 오 결측 저감 정제 알고리즘의 신뢰성 및 검증에 있어 분위수 패턴과 딥러닝 기반의 LSTM 알고리즘으로 동작하는 시스템을 모델링하고, Keras, Theano, Tensorflow 등의 오픈 소스 라이브러리로 구현할 수 있는 체계를 연구하였다.

소독멸균 방법에 따른 초음파 스케일링 팁에 부착된 세균의 양상 (Morphological aspect of the attached bacteria by the sterilization method of the ultrasonic scaling tip)

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the bacterial morphology attached on ultrasonic scaler tips using no cleansing solution, alcohol cotton, liquid chemical disinfecting agent, and autoclave method. Methods: Scaling tip was applied to the mouth and the ultrasonic scaler tips were assigned to four groups. Group 1 was control group with no cleansing solution. Group 2 was treated with alcohol cotton. Group 3 was treated with 2% green Y-Na solution in liquid chemical disinfecting agent, and Group 4 was sterilized by autoclave method. Live bacteria were observed by phase contrast microscopy. The scanning electron microscopy(SEM) revealed the morphological characteristics of scaler surface. The type of attached bacteria were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 program. The data were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA) and Tukey's post-hoc test. Results: The types of sterilization methods had influences on the bacterial viability. The numbers of cocci, bacilli, spiral form bacteria, and filamentous bacteria was observed in $89.00{\pm}3.60%$, $29.67{\pm}3.51%$, $3.33{\pm}0.57%$ and $1.67{\pm}0.57%$ in control group, $31.67{\pm}3.51%$, $63.33{\pm}4.04%$, $2.00{\pm}1.00%$ and $1.67{\pm}0.57%$ in alcohol cotton group, $69.67{\pm}4.50%$, $12.33{\pm}2.51%$, 0% and 0% in liquid chemical disinfecting agent group, and 0.0%, 0.0%, 0.0% and 0.0% in autoclave method group. The clean surface of ultrasonic scaler tip was shown on SEM by autoclave method. Conclusions: The most effective sterilization method of ultrasonic scaler tip was the autoclave method. Autoclave method is the most effective sterilization method and can reduce the cross-infection in the dental clinic.

의치사용자의 구강건강, 의치관리 및 의치건강보험 인식에 대한 실태 조사 (Denture wearers' recognition for their oral health status, denture cleansing methods, and insurance health system)

  • 목적: 60세 이상의 의치사용자를 대상으로 구강 건강 상태, 의치 사용 및 관리 실태를 파악하여 올바른 의치 사용과 관리 중요성의 대국민 홍보 및 인식 제고를 위한 기초 자료로 활용하는 것이다. 대상 및 방법: 의치사용자의 구강건강상태, 의치성 구내염 현황 및 의치관리상태에 대해 2017년 8월 21일부터 9월 8일까지 서울 및 4대 광역시(부산, 대구, 광주, 대전)에서 60세 이상 남녀 중 현재 의치(총의치, 국소의치)를 사용하고 있는 자를 500명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 연구는 각 항목들에 대해 개별 면접 조사를 시행하였으며, 사용된 조사 항목은 응답자의 특성 8문항, 틀니 사용 현황 및 불편 경험 6문항, 구강 건강 상태(의치성 구내염 여부) 12문항, 틀니 관리 현황 7문항으로 구성되었다. 결과: 연구대상 의치사용자 중 161명(32.2%)은 본인의 구강 상태가 건강한 편으로 인식하고 있었고, 111명(22.2%)은 보통이라고 인식하고 있었다. 의치성 구내염은 208명(41.6%)에서 인지하고 있었다. 의치건강보험제도에 대해서는 조사대상자의 26.2%(131명)만이 인지하고 있었으며, 조사대상자의 65.4%(327명)의 의치사용자가 잘못된 의치 관리 방법을 사용하고 있었다. 결론: 본 연구에 따르면 의치사용자의 많은 수가 구강건강, 의치관리 및 의치건강보험에 대한 올바른 인식이 부족함을 알 수 있다.

수종 의치세정제의 세척 효과에 관한 주사전자현미경적 비교 연구 (The efficacy of denture cleansing agents: A scanning electron microscopic study)

  • 연구 목적: 증류수, 차아염소산나트륨 성분의 가정용 살균소독 표백제 그리고 국내에서 판매중인 세 가지 의치세정제의 세척 효과를 주사전자현미경적 관찰을 통해 상호 비교하였다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 부산대학교병원 치과보철과에서 총의치 또는 국소의치를 제작했거나 제작 중인 연구대상자 5명의 상, 하악 임시 의치 협면에 금속 원판 시편을 식립 하였다. 연구대상자로 하여금 48시간 동안 임시 의치를 장착하게 한 후 회수하여 다음과 같은 다섯 가지 (증류수, 차아염소산나트륨 희석용액, $Polident^{(R)}$, $Cleadent^{(R)}e$, $Bonyplus^{(R)}$) 중 하나의 세척 방법으로 실온에서 8시간 동안 세척하였다. 실험에는 직접 참가하지 않았으나 치과적 지식이 있는 10명의 panel을 구성하였고, panel은 한 부위에서 얻어졌으나 다섯 가지 서로 다른 방법으로 처리된 시편들의 세척도를 주사전자현미경 사진을 이용하여 평가하였으며, 깨끗한 순으로 1, 2, 3, 4, 5의 순위를 기록하게 하였다. 결과: 세척 효과는 차아염소산나트륨 희석용액, $Polident^{(R)}$, $Cleadent^{(R)}e$, $Bonyplus^{(R)}$, 증류수 순으로 우수하였으나 차아염소산나트륨 희석용액과 $Polident^{(R)}$, $Polident^{(R)}$$Cleadent^{(R)}e$ 그리고 $Bonyplus^{(R)}$와 증류수 사이에는 유의한 차이가 없었다 (P > .05). 차아염소산나트륨 희석용액으로 세척한 시편의 표면에서는 거의 모든 치태가 제거되었으나, 의치세정제의 경우에는 대부분 세척 후에도 잔류 치태를 관찰할 수 있었으며 축적된 치태가 두꺼울수록 남아있는 치태가 더 많았다. 차아염소산나트륨 희석용액 (0.08% 이상)은 비귀금속 시편의 표면 부식을 유발하였다. 결론: 적절한 화학적 세정제의 선택 사용은 신체장애가 있거나 고령인 의치 환자의 구강 위생 관리에 도움을 줄 수 있음을 알 수 있다. 그러나 알칼리성 과산화물 계열의 의치세정제의 경우 의치 세척 효과가 제한적이기 때문에 가능한 칫솔질과 병행하여 사용하는 것이 보다 바람직한 방법으로 생각된다.
