  • High strength concrete is being used increasingly in mass structure projects. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of temperature during mixing, placing and curing on the strength development, hydration products and pore structures of high strength concrete in mass structures. The experiments were conducted with two different model walls, viz.: 1.5 m and 0.3 m under typical summer and winter weather conditions. The final part of this study deal with the clarification of the relationship between the long-term strength loss and the microstructure of the high strength concrete at high temperatures. Test results indicated that high elevated temperatures in mass concrete structures significantly accelerate the strength development of concrete at the early ages, while the long-term strength development is decreased. The long-term strength loss is caused by the decomposition of ettringite and increased the total porosity and amount of small pores.

  • Safety from derailment has been evaluated according to the magnitude of the derailment coefficient, which does not always ensure sufficient safety evaluation, and is not necessarily helpful in clarifying the mechanism of derailment. When wheel rolls, point of contact between wheel and rail was change continuously and flange touches with rail. Established gauge so that can measure location of contact point between wheel and rail by strain gauge. Also, wish to describe result that compose bridge circuit and execute load test.

  • The objective of the paper is to clarify a methodology based on the use of the existing component mode synthesis methods for the case of two damped substructures which are coupled through a linking viscoelastic flexible substructure and for which the structural modes with free geometrical interface are used for each main substructure. The proposed methodology corresponds to a convenient alternative to the direct use either of the Craig-Bampton method applied to the three substructures (using the fixed geometric interface modes) or of the flexibility residual approaches initiated by MacNeal (using the free geometric interface modes). In opposite to a geometrical interface which is a topological interface on which there is a direct linkage between the degrees of freedom of substructures, we consider a physical flexible interface which exists in certain present technologies and for which the general framework linear viscoelasticity is used and yields a frequency-dependent damping and stiffness matrices of the physical flexible interface.

  • For the purpose of diagnosing the problems in inquiry instruction and evaluation in secondary schools of Korea, an inquiry achievement test and a questionnaire were administered to a sample of 127 science teachers and 610 junior high school students. The analysis of the results served to the clarification of broo:J. range of problems concerning inquiry teaching. Based on the data gathered and analyzed in this study, the major suggestions are as follows. 1. The content of science textbooks must be diminished, and be written for easier understanding. 2. Science instruction and entrance exams must be changed from content-oriented to inquiry-oriented. 3. Effective teacher education program regarding inquiry teaching and evaluating method must be developed and performed.

  • We investigate how plasma structures in the solar chromosphere and corona can extend to altitudes much above hydrostatic scale heights from the solar surface even under the force of gravity. Using a simple modified form of equation of motion in the vertical direction, we argue that there are two extreme ways of non-hydrostatic support: dynamical support and magnetic support. If the vertical acceleration is downward and its magnitude is a significant fraction of gravitational acceleration, non-hydrostatic support is dynamical in nature. Otherwise non-hydrostatic support is static, and magnetic support by horizontal magnetic fields is the only other possibility. We describe what kind of observations are needed in the clarification of the nature of non-hydrostatic support. Observations available so far seem to indicate that spicules in the quiet regions and dynamic fibrils in active regions are dynamically supported whereas the general chromosphere as well as prorninences is magnetically supported. Moreover, it appears that magnetic support is required for plasma in some coronal loops as well. We suspect that the identification of a coronal loop with a simple magnetic flux tube might be wrong in this regard.

  • To prevent the incidence of type food allergies, removal of food allergens by excluding all foodstuffs containing the allergen(s) or disruption of allergen(s) using proteases has been employed. Though allergen- specific digestion with a protease worked well in the preparation of low allergenic goods, it is often difficult to destroy allergenicity without adversely affecting the nutritive value, taste and rheological properties of foods. In the present study, we represented that herbs component contained both allergy- enhancing and inhibiting factors, in addition to llergens. We also reported that herbal component such as epigallocatechingallate (EGCG) and epicatechingallate (ECG) is possible to be allergy- inhibiting factors, but the exact mechanism by which they alleviate allergic response is left to be clarifying. Document of allergy enhancing factors and enrichment of allergy inhibiting factors may provide a new approach to diminish allergenicity of various foodstufffs. Clarification of the allergic reaction modifying mechanism of food components and optimization of the intake of allergy modifying factor are necessary for decrement of allergenicity of conventional food and prevention of incidents of allergic response

  • In variuos physcial and chemical cause of damage of refractories for steel makin the clarification of the wear mechanism of brick is situated on important factor. In the present paper the wear mechanism of high alumina brick for the arc-furnace roof were inves-tigated by means of XRD, EPMA. SEM and microscopy. The results obtained were summerized as follows : (1) The altered layers which exist in high alumina brick used for arc-furnace roof were verified by mineral chemical analysis and EPMA. (2) The diffusion of materials combined with slag dust and iron oxide from furnace atmosphere in high basic process from hot face to interior was verified. (3)Activation energy for the synthesized slag permeated into the unused brick texture was 47-51 kcal per mole.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze and clarify the meaning of the concept, assertiveness. Method: This study used Walker and Avant's process of concept analysis. Results: 1. Attributes of assertiveness were defined as 1) Self-esteem 2) Comprehension to others 3) Clarification of the subject 4) Verbal communication 5) Non-verbal communication 2. The antecedents of assertiveness consist of these facts 1) The occurrence of a conflict situation 2) The occurrence of will to stick to one's opinions 3. There are consequences occuring as a result of assertiveness 1) Positive self-confidence 2) Increased comprehension or consideration to others 3) Expand of mutual respect 4) Maintenance of continuously cooperative relationship with each other 5) Output of acceptable results to each other Conclusion: Assertiveness is a core human behavior and is key to interpersonal relationships. Using the components of the concept of assertiveness, many conflicts in a nursing situation can be effectively prevented.

  • This study was conducted for the efficient utilization of a scoria, which is abundantly found in Cheju island, as adsorbent and the scoria was examined for its performance in clarification of adsorption of heavy metal ions. The order in heavy metal ions adsorbed on scoria was; Pb+>Cd^{2+}$>Cu^{2+}$>Ag^+$>Co^{2+}$>Zn^{2+}$>Cr^{3+}$>Cr^{6+}$. This tendency was relatively consistent with the decreasing order of radius of hydrated metal ion. Also, the smaller scoria size and the larger amounts of scoria showed higher removal efficiency for heavy metal ions. The same scoria size showed more effective removal efficiency for heavy metal ions at lower initial concentration than at higher initial concentration. The adsorption abilities of original scoria and chemically treated scoria were compared. Adsorption isotherm of scoria was generally obeyed to Freundlich formula than langmuir formula and Freundlich constant, than was obtained in the range of 0.2~0.4.

  • A scheme of clarifying fault feature in the residual is given for model-based fault detection and diagnosis of control systems. It is based on the residual generation using a robust filter and the noise suppresion in test statistics of the residual by multi-scale discrete wavelet transform. By clarifying the fault feature in the residual, the difficulties of existing model based approaches via adopting a threshold can be overcomed and it has advantage of taking the false alarm and missed detection into acount at the same time, which can make the fault detection and diagnosis easy and correct. To show the effectiveness of our approach, the simulation results are illustrated for a linear syste...
