Water circulation plays a crucial role in regulating the salinity of estuaries, which is essential for the survival of estuarine organisms. Changes in freshwater inflows or sea level can have significant impacts on the distribution and abundance of species within these ecosystems. To better understand these dynamics, this paper presents a study of water circulation and salinity distribution in Seomjin River estuary using the Finite Volume Coastal Ocean Model (FVCOM) numerical model. An extreme scenario was simulated to assess the potential impact of tidal currents and river flow discharge on circulation and salinity distribution. The results of this study have important implications for managing estuarine ecosystems and conserving their associated biodiversity.
The HANARO, a multi-purpose research reactor of 30 MWth open-tank-in-pool type, has been under normal operation since its initial criticality In February, 1995. Many experiments should be safely performed to activate the utilization of the HANARO. A flow simulation facility is being developed for the endurance test of reactivity control units for extended life times and the verification of structural integrity of those experimental facilities prior to loading in the HANARO. This test facility is composed of three major parts; a half-core structure assembly, flow circulation system and support system. The flow circulation system is composed of a circulation pump, a core flow pipe, a core bypass flow pipe and instruments. The system is to be filled with de-mineralized water and the flow should be met the design flow to simulate similar flow characteristics in the core channel of the half-core test facility to the HANARO. This paper, therefore, describes an analytical analysis to study the flow behavior of the system. The computational flow analysis has been performed for the verification of system pressure variation through the three-dimensional analysis program with standard k-$\epsilon$ turbulence model and for the verification of the structural piping integrity through the finite element method. The results of the analysis are satisfied the design requirements and structural piping integrity of flow circulation system.
Study on combined natural convection-radiation In partially open square enclosures filled with absorbing-anisotropic scattering media is performed. A heater block located in the enclosure causes the natural circulation of the fluid in the enclosure which results In significant in-flow of the cold fluid through the partially open wall. Four different locations of the heater are considered to observe the effect of the heater locations on the resulting heat transfer. Results obtained from the combined convection-radiation analyses show much stronger circulation of t he fluid inside the enclosure as compared to those obtained from the pure convection analyses. As the ratio of the open area is Increased, the inflow of the cold fluid and the circulation of the fluid inside the enclosure is increased causing lower fluid temperature Inside the enclosure. It is shown that the location of the heater influences the circulation and heat transfer significantly by showing stronger circulations and more uniform temperature distributions for the cases where the heater is located on the bottom wall as compared to those for the cases where the heater is located on the upper part wall of the enclosure. For pure absorbing medium, the expected circulation in the fluid is relatively week as compared to those with absorbing-scattering medium due to the smaller wall heating as the radiant heat is used to heat the fluid instead. The forward anisotropic scattering phase function is shown to increase the fluid circulation further as compared to the isotropic scattering medium.
It has been demonstrated for the finite-difference ocean circulation model that the problem of uncertain forcing and input data can be tackled with an optimization techniques. The uncertainty problem in interesting flow properties is exploring a finite difference ocean circulation model due to the uncertainty in the driving boundary conditions. The mathematical procedure is based upon optimization method by the conjugate gradient method using the simulated data and a simple barotropic model. An example for the ocean circulation model is discussed in which wind forcing and the steady-state circulation are determined from a simulated stream function.
This study started from the premise that the satisfaction of visitors in large-scaled design-related fair has co-relation with the environmental and contextual factors such as contents, lighting, the number and location of rest area, crowdedness, ventilation and circulation. The research was made in Seoul Living Design Fair 2005. 102 samples from 132 who answered to the questionnaire with likert-scaled and open questions were selected for the data, which were statistically analyzed through SPSS 12.0 program to explore the co-relation between the environmental factors and the satisfaction level of visitors. The findings showed that overall satisfaction level was in the middle of the scale, which means satisfied nor unsatisfied. The visitors showed relatively high satisfaction in the two factors-the contents of the fair and lighting system compared to the other factors such as the number and location of rest area, sign system, ventilation crowdedness and circulation. Even though the visitors had difficulties in circulation and showed various types in circulation, it did not seem to have a significant influence on the overall satisfaction level because it might be offset by the contents of the fair. Also, the visitors showed similar satisfaction level regardless of the type of circulation. It can be concluded that the main factors mentioned above should be considered to achieve higher satisfaction level and provide better environment in the large-scaled fair.
Purchasing should be considered as an exciting entertainment by itself in these days. Customers can be satisfied with making their own choices and dreaming of their better lives through the action of buying,. However the customers are not rushing into stores without any special reason except when the store has something attracts them. Generally speaking the customers will willingly spend their time and effort in shopping only when they are attracted by well-displyed goods and reasonably planned layout. Based upon these concepts interior design as a creative marketing tool plays a great role in enhancing customer's circulation and the productivity of a store. This study is to propose the layouts which are increasing the customer's circulation by contacting the customers with commodities as many as possible. This study is primarily revolved around the parts affecting customer's circulation among the factors of store's layouts. This study was consist of theoretical consideration about the store's layouts on the foundation of conference and existing works and several proposals. The results of this research are as below: 1) The entrance and exit of a retail store should be apart from each other to increase customers' circulation. It is regarded as ideal to locate the entrance on the right side of front to control moving line of customers. 2) A shop should be surrounded with the main aisles which is straightened inward from the main entrance. 3) Placing magnets which can be anything that attracts customers' attention at the corner of store can lead customers inward and increase customers' circulation.
The objective of this work is to investigate the effects of diminished primary coolant inventory and the presence of noncondensible gas during single- and two-phase natural circulation in a PWR loop model. The test model was composed of two loops with a U-tube heat exchanger in each loop. Through a series of tests, it has been confirmed that the two-phase natural circulation flow rates were greatly dependent on primary coolant inventory as previous investigators observed. The primary coolant inventory limit to maintain two-phase natural circulation was found to be the amount of the coolant necessary to keep the waterline of the coolant nozzle hole center in this model. The presence of noncondensible gas impede the single-phase natural circulation, but it did not affect the two-phase natural circulation significantly.
To confirm the operating range of two oxygen carriers for chemical looping combustion system, the effects of operating variables on solid circulation rate were measured and discussed using a two-interconnected circulating fluidized bed system at ambient temperature and pressure. Moreover, suitable operating ranges to avoid choking of the fast fluidized bed (air reactor) were confirmed for two oxygen carriers. A continuous long-term operation of steady-state solid circulation more than 24 hours was also demonstrated within the operating windows. Finally we could confirm that those two oxygen carriers are suitable for chemical looping combustion system with high solid circulation rate and smooth solid circulation.

The observational proxy estimates suggest that the North Atlantic overturning stream function associated with the North Atlantic Deep Water (NADW) production and outflow was substantially weaker during the last glacial maximum (LGM) than that observed under present conditions. The impact of the changes in overturning circulation on the glacial carbon budget is investigated using a box model. The carbon box model reveals that the atmospheric $CO_2$ concentration is more sensitive to change in the overturning circulation of the North Atlantic than that of the Southern Ocean, especially when North Atlantic overturning becomes weaker. For example, when the strength of the North Atlantic overturning circulation is halved, the atmospheric $CO_2$ concentration is reduced by 50ppm of that associated with the accumulation of $CO_2$ in the deep ocean. This result implies that a weaker North Atlantic overturning circulation may play an important role in the lowering of LGM atmospheric $CO_2$ concentration.

Use of artificial circulation system has become popular in Korean reservoirs to control algal blooms and subsequent color, taste and odor problems in drinking water. It was found that the most of aeration system in Korean reservoirs are under-designed compared to existing installations in US and Australia. This was especially true for larger reservoirs greater than $5{\times}10^7m^3$ in volume since it is common to install the system in the vicinity of intake areas only. Consequently, successful cases of artificial circulation systems operations are limited to few small reservoirs less than $1{\times}10^7m^3$. It is suggested that the design methods need to be developed considering physical characteristics and water quality kinetics inside of reservoirs. Also operation methods of artificial circulation systems need to be established considering the water quality dynamics, stratification and morphological characteristics of reservoirs. Finally, it is suggested to maintain comprehensive and long term monitoring programs to validate the application of artificial circulation system in reservoirs.
