Hybrid Bardenpho 공정에서 Spent Sulfidic Caustic의 주입을 통한 독립영양 탈질에 관한 연구 (Study on Autotrophic Denitrification by the Injection of Spent Sulfidic Caustic in a Hybrid Bardenpho Process)

  • In petroleum refining industry, caustic (NaOH) solution is used to remove $H_2S$ from hydrocarbon streams in naphtha cracking process. Once $H_2S$ is absorbed in caustic solution, the solution becomes known as spent sulfidic caustic (SSC), which contains high concentrations of hydrogen sulfide and alkalinity. This study was focused on the evaluation of autotrophic denitrification by SSC in a hybrid Bardenpho process. SSC was injected to the anoxic (1) and anoxic (2) tank at different S/N ratio. In a previous lab-scale study, as we operated a modified Ludzack-Ettinger process, it was observed that the COD increment of effluent and nitrification failure happened because of non-biodegradable matters in SSC and high pH, respectively. Thus cilia media was packed at 2.4%(v/v) in all aerobic tanks and the pH of SSC was neutralized from 13.3 to 11.5 with addition of sulphuric acid ($H_2SO_4$). Consequently, these strategies were successful because no COD increment of effluent was observed and nitrification failure did not happen. The maximum TN removal efficiency was 77.5% when SSC was injected to both the anoxic (1) and anoxic (2) tanks. The mean TN concentration of effluent in this condition was 5.8 mg/L.

  • Kartagener 증후군은 역위, 부비동염 및 기관지 확장증을 보이는 질환으로 일종의 섬모운동장애증후군으로 여겨지고 있다. 저자들은 어렸을 때부터 호흡기 감염이 빈번한 젊은 여성에서 호흡부전과 우심부전을 동반한 Kartagener 증후군 1예를 경험하였기에 이에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.

오존노출 후 백서 기도점막의 형태학적 변화 (Morphologic Changes of Airway Mucosa after Ozone Exposure in Rats)

  • Objectives : This study was designed to compare the morphological changes in the nasal, tracheal and main bronchial mucosa in rats exposed to 0, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 and 1.2 ppm ozone for 7 days, 6 hours per day. Materials and Methods : We observed the nasal, tracheal and main bronchial mucosa in rats exposed to 0, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 and 1.2 ppm ozone for 7days, 6hours per day with LM, SEM and TEM. Results : In light microscopy, influx of inflammatory cells, epithelial hyperplasia, loss of cilia and increased goblet cells were observed in all rats except those exposed to 0.3 ppm. these findings increased with the increase of ozone concentration, but there were no significant differences among the nasal, tracheal and main bronchial mucosa in rats exposed to the same ozone concentration. In scanning electron microscopy, a loss of cilia was observed in rats exposed to 0.3 ppm in some sections and 0.6 ppm and 1.2 ppm in all sections. In transmission electron microscopy, vacuolization of epithelial cells was observed in rats exposed to 0.3 ppm in some sections and 0.6 ppm in all sections. These results suggest that electron microscopic observation is necessary to study morphology of airway mucosa in rats exposed to ozone below 0.3 ppm. And also the morphological changes in nasal septal epithelium may reflect those of tracheal and bronchial epithelium after high concentration ozone-exposure.

영상 분석 방법을 이용한 점막 세포 섬모의 국소적 운동 특성(CBF)의 정량화에 관한 연구 (Measurement of Local Motional Characteristics of Cilia in Respiratory Epithelium Using Image Analysis)

  • 인체의 기도 내 섬모 세포는 세포간의 동기화된 고 속의 움직임을 통하여 호흡기를 통하여 들어오는 유해한 물질을 제거하는 중요한 역할을 한다. 본 논문에서는 자동화된 영상처리 기법을 기반으로 CBF를 객관적이고 정량적인 방법으로 측정할 수 있는 방법을 연구하였다. 광학 현미경의 세포 영상은 영상 수집 보드를 통하여 연속적으로 디지털화 된다. 이러한 디지털 영상으로부터 분석에 필요한 신호가 추출되고 분석된다. 획득된 영상을 현미경의 배율을 고려하여 적당한 크기의 사각형 블록으로 나눈 다음 각각에 대하여 FFT 방법에 의해 파워 스펙트럼을 구한다. 파워 스펙트럼의 최고치 주파수가 CBF로 간주되고 이 주파수들을 이용하여 영상 필드 내의 CBF분포를 시각적으로 보여주는 CBF 분포도가 구성된다. 스펙트럼의 최고치 주파수가 CBFD로 간주되고 이 주파수들을 이용하여 영상 필드 내의 CBF 분포를 시각적으로 보여주는 CBF분포도가 구성된다. CBF분포도는 세포간의 CBF차이를 쉽게 구분할 수 있게 해줄 뿐만 아니라 CBF분포의 전체적인 변화 양상을 파악하기 쉽게 해준다. 관찰자가 지정하는 다각형의 윈도우 내의 CBF히스토그램 분포를 통하여 세포 또는 세포 크러스트의 특정 부분의 CBF를 측정할 수 있다.

Primary Cilium by Polyinosinic:Polycytidylic Acid Regulates the Regenerative Migration of Beas-2B Bronchial Epithelial Cells

  • The airway epithelium is equipped with the ability to resist respiratory disease development and airway damage, including the migration of airway epithelial cells and the activation of TLR3, which recognizes double-stranded (ds) RNA. Primary cilia on airway epithelial cells are involved in the cell cycle and cell differentiation and repair. In this study, we used Beas-2B human bronchial epithelial cells to investigate the effects of the TLR3 agonist polyinosinic:polycytidylic acid [Poly(I:C)] on airway cell migration and primary cilia (PC) formation. PC formation increased in cells incubated under serum deprivation. Migration was faster in Beas-2B cells pretreated with Poly(I:C) than in control cells, as judged by a wound healing assay, single-cell path tracking, and a Transwell migration assay. No changes in cell migration were observed when the cells were incubated in conditioned medium from Poly(I:C)-treated cells. PC formation was enhanced by Poly(I:C) treatment, but was reduced when the cells were exposed to the ciliogenesis inhibitor ciliobrevin A (CilioA). The inhibition of Beas-2B cell migration by CilioA was also assessed and a slight decrease in ciliogenesis was detected in SARS-CoV-2 spike protein (SP)-treated Beas-2B cells overexpressing ACE2 compared to control cells. Cell migration was decreased by SP but restored by Poly(I:C) treatment. Taken together, our results demonstrate that impaired migration by SP-treated cells can be attenuated by Poly(I:C) treatment, thus increasing airway cell migration through the regulation of ciliogenesis.

CNR공법의 체류시간에 따른 도시하수의 질소제거 (The Nitrogen Removal of Municipal Wastewater with HRT using CNR Process)

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate on the removal effect of total nitrogen in municipal wastewater by decreasing hydraulic retention time(HRT) from 6 hour to 4 hour on CNR process. CNR-A(Cilia Nutrient Removal) is the process combining A2/O process with cilium media of H2L corporation. The removal efficiencies for T-N were 63.1% in A-1 reactor, and 73.5% in A-2 reactor and 77.0% in A-3 reactor. The specific nitrification(g-NH3-N/g-MLVSS.d) of Oxic in CNR-A process was 0.07-0.32. The specific denitrification in Anoxic and the specific nitrification inOxic was higher in HRT 4 hour because of optimum F/M ratio.

  • A histochemical and ultrastructural study on the stomach epithelium of a land snail Nesiohelix samarangae was carried out during the period of June 1996 to May 1997. The stomach epithelium is simple columnar dpithelium and is consisted of three types of columnar cells, Type 1 cell which is majority in number has a brush border with microvilli on the free surface of the cell and contains numerous secretory granules supposed to be neutral mucopolysaccharide. Type 2 cell, elongated conical in shape. is rarely found in the dpithelium. This cell also has a brush border with microvilli on its free surface and contains well developed rough surfaced endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi bodies, and secretory granules in various electron densities. This cell seems to produce both of acid and neutral mucopolysaccharides. Type 3 cell, which is morphologically similar to the Type 1 cell, has microvili and cilia on the free surface and exists in group only in the limited regions of the stomach.

  • We give conditions so that a polynomial be factorable through an $L_{\gamma}({\mu})$ space. Among them, we prove that, given a Banach space X and an index m, every absolutely summing operator on X is 1-factorable if and only if every 1-dominated m-homogeneous polynomial on X is right 1-factorable, if and only if every 1-dominated m-homogeneous polynomial on X is left 1-factorable. As a consequence, if X has local unconditional structure, then every 1-dominated homogeneous polynomial on X is right and left 1-factorable.

짚신벌레의 성물질 합성에 대한 연구 (Studies on the mating type substance in Paramecium aurelia)

  • Sexual reproduction of paramecia have been accomplished through conjugation between individuals which have opposite mating type substances on their cilia when they were starved. Using selfing clone in which mating takes place, I examined whether a mating type change in indicidual cells required new protein and new mRNA synthesis or not and also shether there is a precursor relationship between both of the complementary mating type substances in their synthetic pathway. I found that 1. Mating type change needs new protein(s) and new mRNA synthesis. 2. Mating type substances are synthesized sequentially from mating type XIII to XIV 3. There might be a common precursor pool from which the mating type XIII substnace is synthesized and then complementary mating type XIV is fromed by addition of small group to the mating type XIII substance.

  • Recently Electro active polymer has been discussed in various researches as new actuators replacing the human muscles. Since they have confronted a limitation of more advanced application with traditional actuator. IPMC (Ion exchange Polymer Metal Composite) is one of candidate materials for new actuators. In this paper, we propose a new approach and design principle for the IPMC polymer actuator to conquer the weaknesses of IPMC that is intrinsic weak structural stiffness and low trust forces. In the first we performs some experimental works about how the basic specific characteristics of IPMC vary and what the optimal operating conditions are.
