The clinical studies were performed on 301 cases who took Yongkakkyo-tang from June 1993 to December 1994 The results were as follows: 1. About 80%(239 cases) patients who took Yongkakkyo-tang were improved. 2. The ratio of male to female patients was 106:133. In the age distribution, it was found that under 20's were 8%(24/301), 30's and 40's were 33%(98/301), and over 50's was 39%(117/301). 3. In the regional distribution, it was found that Cervical region was 22 cases, thoracic region was 12 cases, cervical & lumbar region complex was 50 cases, upper limbs region was 6 cases, lower limbs region was 12 cases, and lumbar region was 153 cases(64%). 4. Among improved cases, the cases treated only with Yongkakkyo-tang were 16(5%), the cases treated with Yongkakkyo-tang, and treated with Chiropractic were 19(6%), the cases treated with Yongkakkyo-tang and Yanggun-tang chiropratic were 133(44%). 5. Among improved cases, the number of Chiropractic treatment, less then 15 teimes were 69 cases, 15 to 30 times were 91cases. Basedon these results, it was shown that Yongkakkyo-tang could be used for the treatment of degenerative disease of vertebra, and the treatment with Yongkakkyo-tang, Yanggun-tang and Chiropratic is more effective.

Objectives : the purpose of this study is to report the improvement of stenosis patients, who treated by M.S.T.(Motion Style Treatment) Methods : the clinical study was done on 2 cases of patients with lumbar stenosis who admission in Jaseng Oriental Medicine hospital. We checked VNRS score after the treatment of M.S.T.(Motion Style Treatment) each day, and checked ODI score at admission and discharge. Results : VNRS score and ODI score decreased after the treatment of M.S.T.(Motion Style Treatment)

Objectives : The Purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical application of conservative treatment including quadratus lumborum MST for lumbar HIVD(Herniated Intervertebral Disc) with sacralization. Methods : We used acupunture, herbal acupuncture, herbal medicine, Quadratus Lumborum MST for this patient. This patient received hospital treatment for 25 days. Results : After conservative treatment, the patient's pain was controlled and NRS score was decreased. ODI and ROM also were improved. Conclusions : Oriental conservative treatment including quadratus lumborum MST has a positive effect to control pain of lumbar HIVD(Herniated Intervertebral Disc) with sacralization.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report two cases of improvement in meniscal injury induced knee pain after M.S.T(Motion Style Treatment). Methods : Two patients diagnosed as meniscal injury were improved by M.S.T(Motion Style Treatment). This study was measured by Numerical Rating Scale(NRS) score and physical examination. Results : In this study, in the end of continuous M.S.T(Motion Style Treatment), patient's knee pain had improved. Numerical Rating Scale(NRS) were also decreased. Conclusions : As seen in this two cases of patients of knee pain who were diagnosed as meniscal injury, M.S.T(Motion Style Treatment) has a positive effect to control pain with knee pain who are diagnosed as meniscal injury.

Objectives: The propose of this study is to find out the clinical application of conservative treatment to 3 patients who has Disc Extrusion on L-spine MRI Methods: We examined 3 patients with Lumbar Intervertebral Disc Herniation (HIVD of L-spine) with Disc Extrusion who showed changes on MRI images before/after the treatment among HIVD of L-spine patients who visited Jaseng Hospital of Oriental Medicine. Results: In this study, the first MRI examination of HIVD of L-spine patients was performed at the first visit and re-examination of MRI was done after the treatment. In each case, the size of the extruded disc was considerably reduced in MRI image. Low back and leg pain was also reduced significantly after conervative oriental medical treatment. Conclusions: Conservative oriental medical treatment can be effective for improving symptoms of HIVD, decreasing pain, also decreasing the volume of herniated disc.

Objectives : This study is to investigate the clinical application of conservative oriental medical treatment to a patient who were diagnosed as 'Sequestrated disc' on MRI. Methods: We evaluated 5 patients. who were diagnosed as 'Sequestrated disc' on MRI. after conservative oriental medical treatment by Numeric Rating Scale(NRS), Straight Leg Rasing Test(SLRT) and MRI follow-up. Result: 5 patients showed significant improvement in Numeric Rating Scale(NRS). Straight Leg Rasing Test(SLRT) after conservative oriental medical treatment. Also their sequestrated disc were significantly dissapeared or decreased in volume on MRI after the treatment. Conclusion: Conservative oriental medical treatment can be effective for improving pain and volume of herniated disc for patients with sequestrated disc.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to analyze the current status of utilization of Korean medical institutions. Methods This study analyzed the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service data (2016-2020). We included patients with one of the five most frequent diseases in Korea and examined the variation in healthcare utilization. Results This study analyzed the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service data (2016-2020). We included patients with one of the five most frequent diseases in Korea and examined the variation in healthcare utilization. Conclusions As a result of this study, It was possible to understand the impact of Chuna treatment and COVID-19 on the use of Korean medical institutions. Further studies are needed to establish a definite conclusion regarding the relevance of COVID-19.

Objectives This case study aimed to investigate efficacy of Chuna manual therapy (CMT) on acute neck pain patients with abnormal cervical curvature. Methods CMT was administered to five patients with abnoraml cervical curvature in the Department of Korean Medicine Rehabilitation, College of Korean Medicine, Semyung University Korean Hospital from June 2018 to May 2023. Cervical angle, Jackson's angle, Jochumsen method, Ishihara index and visual analog scale (VAS) scores were evaluated before and after treatment. Results In cases 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, the cervical angle, Jackson's angle, Jochumsen method, Ishihara index all increased, while VAS scores decreased after CMT. Conclusions The observed improvements suggest that CMT is effective in restoring the cervical curvature and alleviating neck pain in patients with acute neck pain.

Objectives This review aimed to investigate studies of Chuna manual therapy (CMT) for low back pain and the evidence of their effects in order to suggest a better research method in the future. Methods We investigated studies on CMT for low back pain by searching Korean web databases from 2020 to 2021. As a result, 72 research papers were analyzed according to their published year, the titles of journals, the types of studies, the techniques of Chuna, and the instruments used for assessment. Results The results were as follows: 1. There were three papers published initially in 2000. this number showed a steady increase, and a total of 72 papers were published that year. 2. Studies on CMT were mainly published in the Journal of Korea Chuna Manual Medicine for Spine and Nerves. 3. When categorized according to the methods of studies, a simple case report was used more often than the sum of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and non-RCTs. 4. The most frequently adopted technique of Chuna in the examined studies was the COX flexion and distraction technique. 5. The Visual Analog Scale and Oswestry Disability Index were used as primary means of assessment. Conclusions Based on the analysis, it was observed that this review provided limited evidence of CMT use in patients with LBP. Therefore, further investigation using well-designed RCTs is required to obtain higher evidence.

This study was performed to report the effectiveness of oriental medical treatment on a patient with Guillain-Barre syndrome complaining both lower extremity weakness. The patient was diagnosed as Guillain-Barre syndrome and treated with acupuncture, electroacupuncture, physical therapy and herbal medicine. We have evaluated the efficacy of oriental medical treatment by measuring changes of motor grade and ambulatory condition according to period of hospitalization. After treatment, motor grade and ambulatory condition were improved. These results suggest that oriental medical treatment was effective on the patient with Guillain-Barre syndrome.
