  • In order to analyze travel mode choice behavior, behavioral models including logit model, based on revealed preference theory, have been using easily measurable variables such as individual socioeconomic characteristics and physical attributes of travel modes. But some recent attitudinal models of travel choice behavior have implied that the negligence of individual psychological variables and individual choice constraints in travel mode choice might preclude better prediction of individual travel mode choice behavior. In this context, this study was attempted to reconstruct an attitudinal model(AM), especially focused on the decision rules in travel mode choice decision making process, consistent with the conceptual framework relating individual attitude and choice constraints to choice behavior. And to evaluate the strengths of the AM to other comparative models(logit, linear-additive, conjunctive, lexicographic model) in predicting travel mode choice bebavior, an empirical study of the mode choice in work-trip to CBD in Seoul was performed. According to the results the percent of correct prediction(PCP) derived from the AM was higher than those derived from comparative models by at least 7 to 20% in predicting travel mode choice. But each model produced a different prediction accuracy depending on market segmentation by travel modal users, individual socioeconomic characteristics, transportation system characteristics, and satisfaction levels. The finding that different groups divided by a certain criterion employ different decision rules supports the necessity of developing a choice model such as the AM combining compensatory and noncompensatory decision rules, and suggests that a proposed transportation system management plan or policy may have different effects on each group.

  • This study examined the consumers' perception of edible insect foods and carried out importance-satisfaction research on the choice attributes of edible insect foods. Through this, the potential of food materials as future food resources was evaluated and foundational data was provided to devise marketing strategies required to develop products made from edible insect foods. According to the results, females had more information on edible insect foods than males (p<0.05), and males gained higher points in trying new foods (p<0.001), overall satisfaction (p<0.001), and purchase intention (p<0.01) than females. Both importance (p<0.05) and satisfaction (p<0.001) about the mean of the choice attributes of edible insects were higher in males than females. The sustenance area showed high importance and high satisfaction, including taste, smell, freshness, sanitation, safety, and shelf-life. Accordingly, to understand edible insect foods properly, it is important to deliver information constantly and publicize them aggressively. • The purpose of this study was to help improve the quality of education to keep up with fast-changing environments in educating sector. Relevant literature and data were reviewed, and the subjects in this study were dental hygiene juniors at seven two-year colleges in the Seoul metropolitan area and other regions, on whom a survey was conducted for about three months from August through October, 2004, to assess their satisfaction level with their major and educational environments. And it's concluded that in order to attract more new students and foster qualified students, dental hygiene practice labs should be improved on a large scale, and that there should be a great deal of investment in teaching facilities. The major findings of the study were as follows: 1. As for satisfaction with major choice, 57.5% of the students investigated, the largest percentage, expressed satisfaction with their major. 27.8%, the second largest group, found their choice not to be bad. 2. Regarding satisfaction with the state of practice labs, 41.9% were pleased with practice labs. This rate was quite lower than that of nursing students, as 64.2% of nursing students were pleased with their practice labs.7) 3. As to satisfaction with individual practice labs, oral prophylaxis labs were considered most satisfactory, as 53.9% were satisfied with them. Digital radiation labs appeared to be satisfactory the least, which made 77.0% dissatisfied. 4. Whether there were any connections between their working experience as a clinical worker and satisfaction level was investigated. In terms of their satisfaction with major choice and the state of practice labs, the students who had ever worked as a clinical worker were relatively pleased with the state of practice labs. As for satisfaction with each practice lab, those who had ever served as a clinical worker before being admitted into college expressed more satisfaction with radiation practice labs(p<0.05) and digital radiation labs(p<.05) than the others who hadn't. The gap between the two was statistically significant. 5. In regard to the causes of dissatisfaction with practice labs, 93.7 and 80.0% were respectively dissatisfied with digital radiation labs and basic dental hygiene labs because their colleges were devoid of those labs. 51.6%, the largest group, found oral prophylaxis labs unsatisfactory because of their frequent breakdown. In the event of most of the other practice labs, the greatest percentage were discontented due to a shortage of equipment.
