영재와 평재의 인지양식 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on the Field Independence Cognitive Styles of Gifted and Normal Children)

  • A group of 84 young children were administered the Preschool embedded Figures Test(PEFT). A three way analysis of variance was performed utilizing giftedness (gifted, normal), gender, and year(4 year-old class, 5 year-old class) as independent variables. The giftedness main effect was statistically significant. Gifted children were more effect not year main effect were statistically significant. The interaction effects between giftedness and gender, between giftedness and year, between gender and year were not significant either.

시설보호 유아를 위한 사회적 유능감 향상 프로그램 개발 및 효과 검증 (Development ana Evaluation of Social Competence Enrichment Program for Institutionalized Children in Early Childhood)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate a social competence enrichment program for institutionalized children in early childhood. The program was developed to enhance institutionalized children's social competence. The program consists of sixteen 30-minute sessions. 19 institutionalized children (11 boys and 8 girls) participated in this program. The effect of this program was evaluated by institutionalized preschool children's emotional knowledge and interpersonal problem solving strategy. Assessment of emotional knowledge consists of identification and situation task. Interpersonal problem solving strategy includes forceful, prosocial, and manipulative strategy. Results showed that there was a significant experimental effect for emotional knowledge. Experimental children showed higher scores of emotional knowledge than control children. Also, there was a significant experimental effect for prosocial and forceful strategy. Experimental children showed higher ratio of prosocial strategy and lower ratio of forceful strategy than control children. The results of program evaluation revealed that this program was helpful for promoting institutionalized children's social competence.

어머니의 양육행동과 유아의 사려성이 유아의 자기통제행동에 미치는 영향 (Children's Self-Control : Effects of Mother's Parenting and Children's Reflection)

  • This study examined the effects of mother's parenting and children's reflection on the development of self-control in the resistance to temptation situation. Subjects were 85 3-, 4- and 5- year old children attending educational preschool and their mothers. Each subject's activities were videotaped for 10 minutes in the experimental settings. Children's reflection was evaluated by Kagan's Matching Familiar Figures Test(MFF). Mothers completed a parenting questionnaire. Results showed no age or sex difference in resistance to temptation. Task patience increased with age, and girls had more task patience than boys. Children's resistance to temptation and task patience correlated with children's reflection and mother's parenting. Children's MFF latency and mother's permissiveness-nonintervention predicted children's resistance to temptation. Children's MFF errors, sex, age and mother's warmth-acceptance predicted children's task patience.

거주지역에 따른 유아의 기호도 조사 (Assessment of preschool children`s food preference according to the residing areas)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the preference trend of children in the child-care centers in relation to certain environmental factors such as size of the residing town. This evaluation was conducted using questionnaire survey where the mother of each child was required to complete a preference questionnaire including 83 food items. Statistical data analysis was completed using SAS package program. The results of this survey showed the followings : 1. Generally, the preference level of the children living in large cities were higher than of medium cities except in case of vegetables, while the preference level of the children living in large cities were higher than those of rural area except in case of hard-boiling(jorim) and vegetables. The subjects showed high preferences to bulgogi(4.53), pork-cutlet(4.52), fried chicken(4.51), jajangmyone(4.45), kimgui(4.43), roasted fish(4.31), roasted ham(4.13). 2. There was a tendency that a la carte, bread and noodles received higher preference scores. Items of Korean style soup attained higher preference scores than stew(ggigae). The preference scores of fired, broiled or pan-fried items(jun) were higher than those of other items such as seasoned vegetables(namool). 3. The preference scores of children (routinely or occasionally) skipping breakfast or supper were generally low. There was no significant difference according to the existence of mother's job except in case of steamed or pan-fried items, provided that the preference scores of the size of the monthly income of the household except stew, provide that the preference scores of the children whose household had lower income were slightly higher in general.

전형적·비전형적 성역할 VTR 프로그램이 유아의 성역할 고정관념에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Traditional and Reversed Sex-Typed VTR Programs on Preschool Children's Sex Role Stereotypes)

  • The primary purpose of this study was to develop an educational tool that can be used in teaching young children about different types of sex roles. The secondary purpose was to observe and analyze the effects of watching different sex role video programs on preschool children's sex role stereotypes and to determine the lasting effects. The subjects of this study were 89 six year-old kindergarten children, forty five were girls and forty-four boys. Each child was interviewed individually and tested at three different points in time: 1 week before the treatment, immediately after the treatment, and 4 weeks after the treatment. Three different statistical procedures were used in analyzing the data: ANOVAs for sex differences in sex role stereotypes. ANCOVAs for the different effects of traditional sex role programs and reversed sex-typed sex role programs, and ANCOVAs and Lindquist type III ANOVAs for the lasting effects of the treatment. The findings of the study indicated that (1) the children showed sex differences in the scores of sex role stereotypes of own, opposite sex and child activity; (2) there were differences in the scores of sex role stereotypes in terms of own and opposite sex. That is, viewing the reversed sex-typed programs caused a decrease in children's sex role stereotypes; and (3) the traditional and reversed sex-typed sex role programs tested four weeks after treatment showed significant lasting effects of sex role stereotypes in terms of opposite, composite and adult activity. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that the sex stereotypes of kindergarten children can be changed through sex role VTR programs.

농촌 및 도시 지역 어린이의 머릿니 감염 실태 (The prevalence of head louse infestation among urban and rural children in Korea)

  • 우리 나라 대도시와 농촌 지역 어린이의 머릿니 감염 실대를 알아보기 위하여 1988년 5일 부터 1989년 10월까지 서을 시내 8개 지역, 장승포시 및 농촌 지역 8군데 등 총 17개 지역 내에 소 재한 28개소의 유치원, 국민학교 및 중학교에 재학중인 어린이에 대하여 머릿니 감염 여부를 조사 하였다. 총 피검자 11,865명 중 2,900명이 감염되어 평균 감염률은 24.4%이었으며, 도시 지역보다 농촌 지역 아동의 머릿니 감염률이 월등히 높았다. 유치원 연령을 제외한 모든 연령에서 남자보다 여자의 감염률이 높았으며, 머릿니의 감염률이 가장 높은 연령은 9∼12세(국민학교 3∼6학년)이었다. 앞으로 머릿니 구제를 위한 보건 교육 및 집단 관리 대책이 조속히 마련되어야 할 것으로 판단 된다.

학부모를 중심으로 한 유아원복에 대한 태도 및 선호연구 (Survey on attitude and preference of the Uniform in preschool students' parents)

  • This survey intends to understand the opinion and status on preschool students' uniform wearing for the purpose of new style development. The results from this study will serve as an activator of related industry. The merit of uniform wearing in these students was recognized primarily as: (1) students can have pride in the schools they attend; (2) they need not worry about clothes to wear every morning. The disadvantage of uniform wearing derives from: (1) students' personality is hardly expressed by uniforms; (2) difficulty in uniform selection suitable for varying weather conditions. This disadvantage felt by their parents suggests the lack of personality expression and appropriate body temperature control. The most prevalent opinion for preference and future improvement points was the consideration of physical activity in children. This indicates that they prefer uniforms rendering minimal restriction on body movements. Other Improvement points stress the activity, uniform laundering and care, convenience in on and off, insulation, colors, design and durability.
