The Relationship between Cheating Behavior in Children and Their Self-Reported Morality (시험과 과제물 부정행위와 아동의 도덕성 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between children's cheating behaviors and their self-reported orality. For this study, 883 children were selected from 7 elementary schools and from 7 middle schools in Seoul, Korea. The participating students included 4th, 6th and 8th graders. The research was performed through the administration of questionnaires designed to measure the students' cheating behaviors and morality. The results were as follows: 1. The children cheated on occasion. More cheating occurred during homework than while taking an examination. During an examination, there was more lone cheating than students helping other students to cheat. With regard to homework cheating, helping others to cheat was higher than students doing their own cheating. Cheating behavior increased in higher grades, but there was no difference between genders. 2. In relation to children's morality, distinctions between 6th graders, 8th graders and 4th graders were different demonstrated. 3. In relation to cheating behavior and morality (4 factors), while PHIL (interests to others) factor decreased cheating behavior, EMP (understanding of emotion and feeling) factor increased cheating behavior.

High School Gifted Students' Perception on Cheating in School (개념도를 통해서 본 고등학교 영재학생의 학업부정행위에 관한 인식)

  • This study explores high school gifted students' perception of cheating in school using the concept mapping method. The map shows the gifted students' concept structure and the different perception between gifted and non-gifted students on cheating. For the purpose, 63 high school gifted students participated at the brainstorming stage to gather the possible related statements. Finally, 64 statements were confirmed and these were divided and evaluated by 13 focus group students. Then, they were analyzed by multidimensional scaling and processed by hierarchical cluster analysis. The results compiled from this procedure show that high school gifted students' perception of cheating is classified into five clusters: "unacceptable cheating behaviors of friends", "an inseparable relation among social structure, giftedness and cheating", "conflict, coping skills, and tolerance related to the cheating", "immorality in one's inner person" and "the judgement based on morality and social justice". In addition, 150 gifted students and 160 non-gifted students checked the degree of agreement to each statement with the likert 6 points scale and the result showed that there was no significant difference in two clusters, "unacceptable cheating behaviors of friends" and "the judgement based on morality and justice", while it turned out that there were significant perception gaps in three clusters, "inseparable relation among social structure, giftedness and cheating", "conflict, coping skills, and tolerance related to the cheating" and "immorality in one's inner person". Implications of the study related to the gifted students' moral behaviors were discussed in depth.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify online-game players' desire in cheating programs through Rene Girard's theory of mimetic desire. Cheating programs disrupts the magic circle of the game with denying the lusory attitude that players should have. The cheating players' desires do not go directly to victory, but are mediated by a virtual 'model player' which the rules of the game imply. They are internally mediated, so there is constant conflict in the play. Cheating players' desire to enhance skills by technology is defined as a false desire for transhuman.

  • In-game cheating by the use of unauthorized software programs has always been a big problem that they can damage in First Person Shooting games, although companies operate a variety of client security solutions in order to prevent games from the cheating attempts. This paper proposes a method for detecting cheaters in FPS games by using game log analysis in a server-side. To accomplish this, we did a comparative analysis of characteristics between cheaters and general users focused on commonly loaded logs in the game. We proposed a cheating detection model by using artificial neural network algorithm. In addition, we did the performance evaluation of the proposed model by using the real dataset used in business.

  • To accommodate today's higher education student, fewer textbooks are printed and more are becoming digital. Keeping with the modern era, hybrid versions of textbooks have all end-of-chapter assessment content moved to digital learning systems such as MindTap$^{TM}$ by Cengage $Learning^{(R)}$. In this work, we introduce new pedagogical strategies to combat academic e-cheating, specifically cheating on assessments given in online astronomy courses. The strategies we present in this work are employed in Horizons: Exploring the Universe, Hybrid, 13th Edition, and Universe, Hybrid, 8th Edition, by Seeds, Backman, and Montgomery.

  • Online exams are not limited by time and space. It has the advantage that it does not require a separate exam site for examinees, and there is no time and cost required to move to the exam site. However, the online exam has the disadvantage that various cheating is possible because the exam is conducted in an individual environment. In addition, there is a difficulty in detecting cheating due to the lack of exam supervision methods. In addition, since the exam process and result data exist only as digital data, it is inconvenient to check directly on the server where the exam result is stored in order to check whether the exam result is forged or not. If the data related to the exam is maliciously changed, the authenticity cannot be verified. In this study, we tried to increase the reliability of the online exam by developing a blockchain-based online exam cheating detection system that stores exam progress-related data in the blockchain to detect cheating. Through the experiment, it was confirmed that forgery and falsification are detected as a result of the exam.

  • Hacking tools are evolving along the growth of on-line game industry. Those tools allow users with no programming knowledge to hack the game, which causes a lot of problems in on-line game services. Specifically, FPS games based on peer-to-peer networks are vulnerable to hacks. This paper analyzes cheating patterns by the case of Point Blank in Indonesia and prioritize countermeasures, which helps game companies handle hacks efficiently.

New Detection Cheating Method of Online-Exams during COVID-19 Pandemic

  • A novel approach for the detection of cheating during e-Exams is presented here using convolutional neural networks (CNN) based systems. This system will help the proctors to identify any kind of uncertain event at the time of online exams, for which most of the government's across the globe are recommending due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Most of the institutions and students across the globe are badly affected by their academic programs and it is a challenging task for universities to conduct examinations using the traditional methods. Therefore, the students are attending most of their classes using different types of third party applications that are available online. However, to conduct online exams the universities cannot rely on these service providers for a long time. Therefore, in this work, a complete setup of the software tools is provided for the students, which can be used by students at their respective laptops/personal computers with strict guidelines from the university. The proposed approach helps most of the universities in Saudi Arabia to maintain their database of different events/activities of students at the time of E-Exams. This method proved to be more accurate and CNN based detection proved to be more sensitive with an accuracy of 97% to detect any kind of uncertain activity of the students at the time of e-Exam.

Effect of Social Work Students' Evaluation toward Connivers of Exam-Cheating on their Evaluation toward Connivers of Corruptions in Social Welfare Organizations :Focusing on the Mediating effects of Both Perceptions of Their Concern of Dysfunction of Whistle-Blowing and of Necessity of Protection Arrangement for Whistle-Blowers (사회복지전공 대학생들의 시험부정 묵인자에 대한 평가가 사회복지조직의 비리 묵인자에 대한 평가에 미치는 영향 :내부고발 역기능에 대한 염려와 내부고발 보호장치 필요성의 이중매개효과검증을 중심으로)

  • The predominant concerns of the study consist of: (1) the direct effects of social work students' evaluation toward connivers of exam-cheating on their evaluation toward connivers of corruptio ns in social welfare organizations; (2) the dual mediation effects of their concerning dysfunction of whistle-blowing and needing of protection arrangement for whistle-blowers. The notable findi ngs are as follows: First, the evaluation toward a person conniving at exam-cheating significantl y has an effect on the evaluation toward connivers committing corruptions in social welfare orga nizations($.211^{***}$). Second, the more positive evaluation for connivers of exam-cheating, the more concerning dysfunction of whistle-blowing, the less needing protection arrangement for whistle-blowers($-.191^{^{\prime}***}$). The students, concerning dysfunction of whistle-blowing more, show less neg ative evaluation toward a person, conniving at corruption in social welfare organizations($.245^{***}$). The more needing protection arrangement for whistle-blowers, the less positive evaluation regar ding whistle-blowers in the organizations($-.122^{***}$). Lastly, both mediating effects of the needing protection arrangement for whistle-blowers and concerning about dysfunction of whistle-blowing are significant so dual mediator are proved. Some practical implications are discussed based on the study's findings.
