  • This thesis will observe and study the acting pattern and subtext of Ahn, Sung-kee who is known to be "The Nation's Actor" in South Korea's movie industry and currently has been on the screen with multiple different characters in about 120 films. He started his career as a child actor in Kim, Ki-young's movie at the age of five. Ahn is exceptional at communicating through solely on screen in terms of delivering characters' characteristics to audience with variety of characters. We provided some of the acting patterns he has shown in different roles of characters that he played such as in comedic, mellow and extraordinary acting. Following will be analysis on subtext of Professor Kim, Kyung-ho the role Ahn played in Jung, Ji-young's movie in terms of what type of factors was prepared and how it has delivered in each important scene. Generally, acting's basic skills and talents are similar between theater and movie. However, in movies, understanding of shots and preparation is needed. To deliver this well, a depth study of those characteristics such as expression method of subtext and continuous practice is necessary. Based on researches, we will talk about how important screen actors need to understand and prepare those characteristics when they act their roles and express the subtext of each character.

  • Printmaking is a field of fine arts and is placed on a vague boundary that is perceived as a commercial product with a popular character due to the speciality of editions. Advances of modern science and technology has developed a new technique of printmaking, and the fusion of printmaking and computer has shown the possibility of reproduction art. Reproduction printmaking has been heavily influenced by photography and extended areas, and the various forms of printing have brought about many changes and attempts by stimulating the possibilities of indirect art at various angles. As the history of printmaking and technology closely relate, the development of computer makes widespread expansion of plural artistry, technological and artistic change. A new conceptual shape can be created on the copied image simply by placing the material of the print on the smoothly flat surface expressed in digital form. The process and the result of such work show the area of unique work which is different from the value of the $\grave{a}$ la carte art or the characteristics of the material given by the print. The deprecated perception of reproducibility evaluated the value of the work in a direct sense of printmaking. It is undeniable that it is devalued by a bundle of works regardless of the value of each edition. However, the physical properties of the prints on the paper are brought up with hand drawings drawn on the canvas by hand. And it becomes an opportunity to show new aspect and change through the process of combining digital print information on paper. The diversity of media is sometimes a controversy of identity between art and technology. In the future, it should be discussed how the limit of the media which can be enjoyed in the field of art can be set as a standard.

  • It is widely known that the sound insulation of soundproof panel is highly correlated to two factors, surface density of material and the frequency of noise. Accordingly, the character of traffic noise released in actual situation is important requisite for determining thickness to determine surface density and material of soundproof panel. This present study selected polymer panel with advantage of light weight and workability and evaluates according to frequency of traffic noise. Polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) were selected as subjects based on economic valuation and efficiency. The sound transmission loss of selected polymer panels were compared with the currently used panels such as polycarbonate (PC) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) depending on thickness and materials. As a result, PC showed the highest sound transmission loss followed by PMMA, HDPE, and PP in range of mass law. In terms of acoustic performance on thickness, the transmission loss increased with thickness of soundproof panel meanwhile coincidence dip was observed in lower frequency where had reduced transmission loss. Therefore, it is suggested that after determining target frequency, the kind of materials and thickness of soundproof panel need to be designed so that traffic noise can be more efficiently reduced.

  • To provide essential information of the role of marine bacteria on the dinoflagellate blooms, distribution of marine bacterial flora and dinoflagellate species was investigated in Chinhae Bay located in southern part of Korea from August 1989 to April 1990. Two hundred and fifty one strains of marine bacteria were isolated from seawater samples collected from the study area. Among them, Flavobacterium spp. and Acinetobacter spp. were the most dominant in bacterial flora. Another 32 strains which comprised 13 percent of total strains were Erythrobacter spp.. Based on the physiological character, Erythrobacter spp. were identified as Erythrobacter longus, Erythrobacter sp.(J-2) and Erythrobacter sp. (J-8). From the phytoplanktonic community, fourteen genera and twenty nine taxa of dinoflagellate species were identified. Based on the spatio-temporal frequence and abundance Gymnodinium sanguneum, Prorocentrum micans and Prorocentrum minimum were the aestival dominent species. However, Heterocapsa triquetra was appeared as predominant species in April. Cell density of about 2,000 cells/ml was prevailed in the bloom of August, but it developed into more intensive bloom of above 500 cells/ml in September. The water quality showed eutrophic or hypereutrophic condition, which was proved by high concentration of dissolved inorganic nitrogen, ortho-phosphate and chemical oxygen demand. Oxygen deficient water mass was found in the bottom overlying waters in August and September. High relationship between abundant bacterial flora and persistent dinoflagellate blooms in eutrophic condition would be approvable.

  • The aging and growth of Spisula sachalinensis from Ingu over the period from December 1981 through November 1982 were studied. The rings on the shell were used as the character for age determination. The ring where the translucent zone shifts to the opaque one was regarded as an annulus. The time of its formation was estimated by monthly variations of marginal growth rate in the shell. It was formed once a year over the period from August through September. The shell length at the formation of the annulus was estimated by taking the mean shell length corresponding to each of the annual ring. From analysis of mean shell length at the formation of the annulus, von Bertalanffy's growth equation was estimated as follows; $l_t=126.38(1-e^{-0.262(t-0.656)})\;W_t=485.85(1-e^{-0.262(t-0.656)})^3$ Back-calculated shell lengths estimated from this equation was quite consistent with actual shell lengths.

  • The object of this study was to analyze the speciality of Korean traditional waterscape and unique landscape formed with reflection of the phases of the time sat the area of Juhabru(宙合樓) in Changdeok Palace as a basic research to find the prototype of Taeaek pond at Changdeok Palace and restoration of the palace. Originally, Taeaek pond at Changdeok Palace was constructed in KingInjo(仁祖) period as a name of Yongji(龍池), later it called Taeaek pond after King Sukjong(肅宗). There is an island as a symbol of the immortal isle, and Chungseojeong(淸署亭), Taiksujae(澤水齋) and Buyongjeong(芙蓉亭) which were built to view the waterscape in Taeaek pond. Buildings were built asymmetrical balance around Taeaek pond because of the morphological character of tetragonal pond. Arrangement of this area has a definite form of axial structure. Yeolgokwan(閱古觀) Gaeyuwa(皆有窩), pavilions, bridges, islands, Osumoon(魚水門) and Juhabru are located on the north and south axis, and island and Osumoon play a role as a intersection and form an east of west axis. In this study, manual of construction for an island and pavilions is provided by analyzing transformational process of island and pavilions at Taeaek pond. Furthermore, kings and officials used to statically enjoy the view around Taeaek pond area, but dynamic fishing and boating activity happened in King Jungjo(正祖) period. These historical backgrounds have an influence on the spatial organization of Taeaek pond. For instance, bridge between Taeaek pond and island was destroyed with the increase of the importance of boating. Symbolic structure around Taeaek pond means 'fish changes to dragon' and 'both of king and officials become one'. Taiksujai, carving fish, Osumoon and Juhabru are provided as a related spatial factors.

  • In this paper, we propose an optimized fuzzy controller based on Hierarchical Fair Competition-based Genetic Algorithms (HFCGA) for rotary inverted pendulum system. We adopt fuzzy controller to control the rotary inverted pendulum and the fuzzy rules of the fuzzy controller are designed based on the design methodology of Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) controller. Simple Genetic Algorithms (SGAs) is well known as optimization algorithms supporting search of a global character. There is a long list of successful usages of GAs reported in different application domains. It should be stressed, however, that GAs could still get trapped in a sub-optimal regions of the search space due to premature convergence. Accordingly the parallel genetic algorithm was developed to eliminate an effect of premature convergence. In particular, as one of diverse types of the PGA, HFCGA has emerged as an effective optimization mechanism for dealing with very large search space. We use HFCGA to optimize the parameter of the fuzzy controller. A comparative analysis between the simulation and the practical experiment demonstrates that the proposed HFCGA based fuzzy controller leads to superb performance in comparison with the conventional LQR controller as well as SGAs based fuzzy controller.

  • Internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences of nuclear ribosomal DNA were determined for 14 individuals representing eight taxa from Scopolia s. str. and related genera, Anisodus and Atropanthe. We found that the ITS sequences of Korean endemic species, S. parviflora, are significantly different from its allied species, S. japonica. This is contradictory to traditional taxonomic treatments in which those species are regarded as conspecific. S. parviflora exhibited closer relationship to S. carniolica, which is disjunctly distributed in Europe. In spite of substantially high sequence divergence between S. japonica and S. parvlflora/S. carniolica clade, morphological resemblance is evident among the species. Morphological stasis concept (retardation of morphological differentiation or evolution of similar characters among the disjuncts in a similar ecological habitat) was referred to understand this rather unusual evolutionary feature. S. lutescens, another Korean endemic species, shared almost identical ITS sequences with S. parviflora. Lack of diagnostic character distinguishing the taxa suggests that they are conspecific. Anisodus carniolicoides, which was originally described in Scopolia, was grouped with A. luridus and A. tanguticus. The monophyletic Anisodus formed a sister group relationship with a monotypic genus Atropanthe.

  • The general morphological characters and chromosome numbers about 7 taxa of Korean Allium sect. Sacculiferum were reviewed. From the results, authors elucidated the key character as well as the range of variations in each taxon, and considered the relationships among taxa in this section. Clear taxonomic treatments also carried out based on the type specimens and the original descriptions. Shape and growing pattern of leaves, size of inflorescences, shape of perianths and tepals, as well as chromosome numbers were key characters in identifying the taxa and in estimating their relationships. On the basis of these characters, A. thunbergii var. thunbergii, A. sacculiferum and A. deltoide-fistulosum were recognised as a distinct species respectively. Hal-la-bu-chu which had been misidentified as A. cyaneum (sect. Reticulato-bulbosa) in Korea was proved to be A. taquetii and belonged to the sect. Sacculi/erum. In addition, A. cyaneum var. deltoides, had been described as a variety of A. cyaneum, was recombined as a variety of A. thunbergii [A. thunbergii var. deltoides (S. Yu, W. Lee et S. Lee) H. J. Choi et B. U. Oh] with the new Korean name of 'Se-mo-san-bu-chu'. In conclusion, Korean sect. Sacculiferum was composed of five species and two varieties. A key to identify the taxa in this section was provided.

  • The morphological characters of Scrophularia kakudensis Franch. and its relatives were examined. The major features of S. kakudensis were determined to resolve the taxonomic confusion with the closely related taxa of S. kakudensis var. microphylla, S. pilosa and S. cephalantha. S. kakudensis is characterized by its flowering in Jul. to Sep., the node numbers on a stem, the size of the leaves, the development of inflorescences and the presence of glandular trichomes on its stems and leaves. S. cephalantha is distinct from S. kakudensis by the earlier flowering season, fewer node numbers on a stem, and fewer numbers of flowers on shorter rachis. Smaller sizes of S. kakudensis var. microphylla, considered to be a problematic character previously, are stable and distinctive from other taxa in the natural habitats of the multiple populations investigated in the study. Therefore, the taxon should remain as a variety of S. kakudensis. An examination of the diagnostic characteristics of S. pilosa, such as its inflorescence type and the presence of a stem with pubescence, does not provide sufficient distinction from S. kakudensis. A type specimen and habitat survey also support the merging of the two taxa. S. pilosa should be treated as a synonym of S. kakudensis, because it is considered to be a misidentification of S. kakudensis.
