A lab-scale apparatus for turbid water transport control was tested and examined. The channel had a dimension of $100cm{\times}30cm{\times}15cm$ (length${\times}$hight${\times}$width). And the turbidity water was prepared using two types of particles, bentonite and loess. The channel equipped with filamentous mat was operated under various shock load conditions. In the control channel, instantly, turbid water mixed with the clean water inside the channel and turbidity prevails the entire channel. While in the mat-equipped channel, it increases only at the bottom. Overall, the filamentous mat gave capture efficiency of 70~90% compared with the control group. The capture efficiency of turbid particles decreased with increased input turbidity flux. The result of experimental run on how turbid particles are separated in the mat channel shows that settling, filtration and attachment are the main processes. Meanwhile, turbidity was diffused from the channel bottom due to turbidity gradient before and after mat zone. The particle size before mat zone was lightly coarser than that after mat zone.

In this study, the efficiency of spectrum utilization has compared in case of channel spacking 100 KHz and 200 KHz by application of technical specifications of domestic FM broadcasting varing with effective radiated power, terrain irregularity factor and effective height of thrnsmit antenna. The results show that if arranging by 100 KHz channel total number of available channel will increase twice and the efficiency of spectrum unilization will be better 1.36 to 2.0 times than that of 200 KHz channel spacing.

Due to extremely small device size and velocity scale, mixing in microchannel take place very slowly by way of molecular diffusion transport. Mixing enhancement becomes a central issue in microfluidics for biomedical and chemical applications. In this work, The optimization results and validation through experiment and fabrication. In this efficient micromixer design, it is essential to evaluate mixing efficiency with good precision. Mixing efficiency for Y-channel micromixer is measured by fluorescence intensity using LIF(Laser Induced Fluorescence) Confocal Microscope. The Y-channel micromixers are fabricated with polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS). Nile Blue A is injected into the micromixer as a fluorescence dye for measuring of fluorescence intensity by He/Ne laser. Throughout the experiments and computer simulation, accurate mixing efficiency evaluation process for a PDMS Y-channel micromixer is established.

In this paper, we propose a multi-channel MAC protocol to improve the channel efficiency and network performance in wireless ad hoc networks. There are two main problems encountered in designing multi-channel MAC protocols. The first problem is the rendezvous problem and the second is multi-channel hidden node problem. In order to solve these problems, most of previous researches that have considered multi-channel MAC protocols use a common control channel to exchange control packets. However, they have a bottleneck problem at common control channel as increasing the number of data channels. The proposed MAC protocol solves the multi-channel hidden node problem using a TDMA scheme and increases the network throughput because transmitting and receiving data at the same time is possible. Also, since there is no common control channel, the network does not suffer from the common control channel saturation problem. Moreover, it achieves energy savings by allowing nodes that are not involved in communication to go into sleep mode. Simulation results show that the proposed MAC protocol improves the network throughput and channel efficiency and provides energy savings.

Dimethyl sulfide (DMS) is the major sulfur gas released from the ocean. The atmospheric DMS released from the ocean is oxidized mainly by hydroxyl (OH) radical during the day and nitrate (NO$_3$) radical at night to form sulfur dioxide (SO$_2$) as well as other stable products. The oxidation mechanism of DMS via OH has been known to proceed by two channels; abstraction and addition channels. The major intermediate product of the addition channel has been known to be dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) based on laboratory chamber studies and field experiments. However, a branching ratio for DMSO formation is still uncertain. The reaction of DMSO with OH ultimately produces SO$_2$and dimethylsulfone. The major product of the abstraction channel has known to be SO$_2$from laboratory chamber studies. But overall conversion efficiency for DMS to SO$_2$from DMS oxidation is still inconsistent in the literature. Based on laboratory and field studies, the conversion efficiency from the abstraction channel is likely to be greater than 0.5, while that from the addition channel is likely to be greater than 0.6. Overall conversion efficiency from DMS to SO$_2$might be greater than 0.5 based on the above two values in the remote marine boundary layer (MBL). This high efficiency in the remote MBL is supported by strong coupling between DMS and SO$_2$measurements with high temporal resolution.

Achievable sum rate and energy efficiency (EE) are investigated for the massive multiple-input multiple-output (Massive MIMO) downlink with channel aging in the time varying Ricean fading channel. Specifically, the expression of the achievable sum rate of the system for the maximum ratio transmission (MRT) precoder with aged channel state information (CSI) in the time varying Ricean fading channel is first presented. Based on the expression, the effect of both channel aging and the Ricean factor on the power scaling law are studied. It is found that the transmit power of base station (BS) is scaled down by $1/{\sqrt{M}}$(where M is the number of the BS antennas) when the Ricean factor K is equal to zero (i.e., time varying Rayleigh fading channel), indicating that aged CSI does not affect the power scaling law. However, the transmit power of the BS is scaled down by 1/M for the time varying Ricean fading channel (where $K{\neq}0$) indicating that the Ricean factor affects the power scaling law and sum rate, and channel aging only leads to a reduction of the sum rate. Second, the EE of the system is analyzed based on the general power consumption model. Both the theoretical analysis and the simulations show that the channel aging could degrade the sum rate and the EE of the system, and it does not affect the power scaling law.

In this study, numerical analysis of curved channel steam-methanol reformer was conducted using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) commercial code STAR-CCM. A pre-numerical analysis of reference model with a cylindrical channel reactor was performed to validate the combustion model of the CFD commercial code. The result of advance validation was in agreement with reference model over 95%. After completing the validation, a curved channel reactor was designed to determine the effects of shape and length of flow path on methanol conversion efficiency and generation of hydrogen. Numerical analysis of the curved-channel reformer was conducted under various flow rate ($10/15/20{\mu}l/min$). As a result, the characteristics of flow and mass transfer were confirmed in the cylindrical channel and curved channel reactor, and useful information about methanol conversion efficiency and hydrogen generation was obtained for various flow rate.
Cooperative diversity protocols have attracted a great deal of attention since they are thought to be capable of providing diversity multiplexing tradeoff among single antenna wireless devices. In the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region, cooperation is rarely required; hence, the spectral efficiency of the cooperative protocol can be improved by applying a proper cooperation selection technique. In this paper, we present a simple "cooperation selection" technique based on instantaneous channel measurement to improve the spectral efficiency of cooperative protocols. We show that the same instantaneous channel measurement can also be used for relay selection. In this paper two protocols are proposed-proactive and reactive; the selection of one of these protocols depends on whether the decision of cooperation selection is made before or after the transmission of the source. These protocols can successfully select cooperation along with the best relay from a set of available M relays. If the instantaneous source-to-destination channel is strong enough to support the system requirements, then the source simply transmits to the destination as a noncooperative direct transmission; otherwise, a cooperative transmission with the help of the selected best relay is chosen by the system. Analysis and simulation results show that these protocols can achieve higher order diversity with improved spectral efficiency, i.e., a higher diversity-multiplexing tradeoff in a slow-fading environment.

The split-channel two-tone OOK method proposed in this paper can improve the communication performance of IoT in fading channel environment. The frequency diversity effect can be obtained by separating the interval of the two tone signals, and a performance gain of 8 dB can be obtained in the fading channel. In addition, by using split-channel, the problem of degradation of the channel bandwidth efficiency caused by the frequency diversity technique can be prevented, thereby reducing the bandwidth efficiency by allocating the remaining frequency channels to other users.
We have develped a four-channel photoelectric photometer for the 61cm telescope of Sobaeksan Astronomy Observatory using optical fiber. We observed a standard star with each channel to check the efficiency difference between the channels, and found no differences. To calibrate the observing accuracy and efficiency, we have observed a short period W UMa type eclipsing binary star, BV Dra. Test observations show that the photometer is very stabel and the accuracy of the data is also increased. The observing efficiency is very increased compared with that of single channel photometer ; at least five times faster than older one in the case of one filter observation.
