  • In this study, flow field measurement of the Pebble Bed Reactor(PBR) for the High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor(HTGR) was performed. Large number of pebbles in the core of PBR provides complicated flow channel. Due to the complicated geometries, numerical analysis has been intensively made rather than experimental observation. However, the justification of computational simulation by the experimental study is crucial to develop solid analysis of design method. In the present study, a wind tunnel installed with pebbles stacked was constructed and equipped with the Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV). We designed the system scaled up to realize the room temperature condition according to the similarity. The PIV observation gave us stagnation points, low speed region so that the suspected high temperature region can be identified. With the further supplementary experimental works, the present system may produce valuable data to justify the Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) simulation method.

  • In this paper, we introduced a simulator to visualize the driving scenery of newly developed train called the K-AGT(Korea Automated Guideway Transit). The simulator consists of mainly two parts; control system and display system. In the control system, user can control the driving speed of the K-AGT, the driving environment(day and night), the operation of the train door and the screen door and user's views(driver's view, left window view, right window view, passenger's view). In the display system, immersive driving scenery generated by stereoscopic head mount display system and 3 channel PDP display system are displayed. We are expect to utilize the system to share the idea among customer, designer and constructor and verify the operating condition of the K-AGT intuitively.

  • WiBro radio frequency (RF) repeater is used for solving the problem of partial shadow areas in the wireless communication field that uses time-division duplexing (TDD) mode. In this paper, a method to efficiently generate TDD signals for WiBro RF repeater is proposed and its digital circuit is implemented. A TDD signal is detected from RF signals transmitted/received to/from RF repeater and then inputted again into the RF repeater, so that it can operate normally. First, the envelope of downlink signals is detected and then clamped to extract the basic form of a TDD signal using an operational amplifier circuit. Next, the TDD signal is generated by restoring and filtering the shape which has been distorted by the wireless channel. The algorithm and system to acquire TDD signal are developed with a goal to have simple but powerful functions with as little cost as possible. The proposed method is implemented as an RF-digital integrated system and verified through the experiments under the same condition as actual WiBro service environment.

  • In the present study a new measurement technique has been developed, which uses an ultrasonic transmission signal in order to identify the vertical two phase flow pattern. The ultrasonic measurement system developed in the present study not only provides the information required for the identification of vertical two phase flow patterns but also makes real time identification possible. Various vertical two phase flow patterns such as bubbly, slug, churn, annular flow etc. have been accurately identified with the present ultrasonic measurement system under atmospheric condition. In addition, the present test apparatus can practically simulate the ultrasonic propagation characteristics under high temperature and high pressure systems. Therefore, it is expected that the present ultrasonic flow pattern identification technique could be applicable to the vertical two phase flow systems under high temperature and high pressure conditions.

  • Gas diffusion layer (GDL) of PEMFCs plays a role that it diffuses the reactant gases to the catalyst layer on the membrane and discharge water from the catalyst layer to the channel. Physical parameters related to the mass transport of GDL are mostly from the uncompressed GDLs while actual GDLs in the assembled stacks are compressed. In this study, the relation of compression and strain of GDLs with various Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) loading is measured experimentally and In-plane gas permeability is measured at the condition that the GDLs are in compressive strain. The gas permeability decreased with the loading of PTFE and the presentation of gas permeability under compressive stain is expected to improve the accuracy of modeling work of mass transport in the GDL.

  • This paper is concerned with the numerical analyses of an S-shaped duct for the inter-channel between compressor spools. For the compactness and lightweight of an engine, the length of the S-shaped duct is desired to be minimized. Shortening the S-shaped duct however, flow separation is likely to occur. Numerical investigation using a three-dimensional Navier-Stokes flow solver has been performed to determine the availability of the minimization of an S-shaped duct. Computations are performed introducing the experimental data as the inlet flow condition of the OGV in determining the minimum length of the S-shaped duct. Also, the leaning effect of the OGV which assists the flow to turn radially inward are studied adopting mixing-plane method to consider the rotor/OGV interaction.

  • In this paper M-ary Psk system for digital land mobile radio utilized the raised-cosine filter instead of LPF with rectangular frequency characteristic as luniting channel bandwidth are implemented to measure their performance and effect of ISI and jitter. Also the error probability is calcylated on the condition of fast Rayleihg fading, cochannel interference and AWGN, It is found that QPSK and 8-PSK system with 2-branch diversity, can be improved by 3 or 5 time of spectral effciency respectively, comparinng with one of the non diversity QPSK and 8.PSK system.

  • In this paper, we propose a new incentive mechanism for hybrid access in cognitive femtocell networks. The purpose of the proposed incentive mechanism is to guarantee the QoS of macro user equipments (MUEs) and to increase femtocell capacity. MUEs channel condition report triggers bidding procedure by neighbor femtocell base stations (FBS). Macro base station (MBS) can offer some subchannels as rewards to encourage FBSs to reliably support its MUEs. Simulation results validate the effectiveness of our proposed scheme.

  • We have investigated the effect of electrical properties of amorphous InGaZnO thin film transistors (a-IGZO TFTs) by post thermal annealing in $O_2$ ambient. The post-annealed in $O_2$ ambient a-IGZOTFT is found to be more stable to be used for oxide-based TFT devices, and has better performance, such as the on/off current ratios, sub-threshold voltage gate swing, and, as well as reasonable threshold voltage, than others do. The interface trap density is controlled to achieve the optimum value of TFT transfer and output characteristics. The device performance is significantly affected by adjusting the annealing condition. This effect is closely related with the modulation annealing method by reducing the localized trapping carriers and defect centers at the interface or in the channel layer.

  • The distributed resistance model has been recently implemented into the MATRA-LMR code in order to improve its prediction capability over the wire-wrap model for a flow blockage analysis in the LMR. The code capability has been investigated using experimental data observed in the FFM (Fuel Failure Mock-up)-2A and 5B for two typical flow conditions in a blocked channel. The predicted results by the MATRA-LMR with a distributed resistance model agreed well with the experimental data for wire-wrapped subchannels. However, it is suggested that the parameter n in the distributed resistance model needs to be calibrated accurately for a reasonable prediction of the temperature field under a low flow condition. Finally, the analyses of a blockage for the assembly of the KALIMER design are performed. Satisfactory results by the MATRA-LMR code were obtained through and rerified a comparison with results of the SABRE code.
