COLOR ANALYSIS OF THE NATURAL TEETH WITH A MODIFIED INTRAORAL SPECTROPHOTOMETER (구내용 분광광도계를 이용한 자연치의 색상분석)

  • The recognition of the esthetics as well as their function of the teeth in the dental field is growing. Evaluating the esthetics of a tooth concerns shape, texture, and color. And among these, color has been the most difficult element to make natural expression. Color is a very subjective element affected by many different factor like light source, object, observer. Numerous efforts to quantifying color has been made. Currently the use of colorimeter and spectrophotometercolor that the color measuring device has been suggested. In this study, the normal range of the tooth color in canines, lateral incisors and central incisors for Koreans was evaluated with a modified spectrophotometer for intraoral use. The color differences in terms of teeth positions, age and area within the tooth was evaluated and comparatively analyzed. Results were as follow ; 1. In all age groups, the central incisors are most bright and least yellowish opposit to the canines are most dark and yellowish. The central incisors and lateral incisors showed the similar color patterns. 2. In the comparison between gender, it showed that in the 10' s group male have more yellowish, the 20's female have lighter and more redness, the 30's indicated more redness in female and in the 40's the lightness is more in female. 3. With aging, there was no significant change in $L^*$ and $a^*$ coordinates but a shift was in $b^*$ to yellowish in the 30' sand 40's in central incisors. Lateral incisors and canines showed a lighter and more yellowish tooth color with an irregular change of color coordinate in $a^*$. 4. In all teeth the middle and cervical portion showed close correlation with over 0.7(0.05>p) but color ($a^*$, $b^*$) showed higher correlation than lightness($L^*$). 5. It has been shown that through the regression test the cervical color could be calculated by the middle color value.

COLOR STABILITY OF CURRENT PROSTHETIC COMPOSITES UNDER ACCELERATED AGING AND IMMERSION IN A COFFEE SOLUTION

  • The color stability of current prosthetic composites is unknown, even though the quality of composite materials has been improving. This study examined the intrinsic color stability of various current prosthetic resins (ceramic-polymers) after an accelerated aging process and the extrinsic color stability after immersion in a coffee solution. By comparing the amount of discoloration after aging with that without aging, the effect of the accelerated aging process on external discoloration could be evaluated. Three current prosthetic composites (Artglass, Targis, Sculpture), one light polymerized direct composite (Z100) and one dental porcelain control (Ceramco) were assessed. The color changes (${\Delta}$E) of all the specimens were determined using the CIE $L^{*}a^{*}b^{*}$ color order system with a reflected spectrophotometer. The results were as follows: 1. The prosthetic composite materials subjected to the accelerated aging test showed no significant difference in color changes (p >.05). 2. In the coffee solution immersion test after the aging process, the color changes of the Targis and Artglass groups were not different from that of the Z100 group, which showed the highest color change. 3. In the immersion only test, a significantly high color change was observed in the sculpture glazing group. 4. The aging process influenced on the color changes more in the Targis, Artglass and Z100 groups than in the Sculpture and Ceramco groups.

An Empirical Analysis on Consumer Damage Cases of Clothing Products (의류제품의 소비자 피해 사례에 대한 실증분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the actual conditions of consumer damage occuring in the use of clothing products. The data used for analysis included 470 cases, which were deliberated by requesting consumer disputes deliberation at the consumer consultation room of Masan YWCA at the Kyeongsangnamdo Consumer Life Center belonging to the Kyeongnam provincial office. The disputes regarding the clothing products insisted that consumers suffered damage for the period from March, 2011 to June, 2013. The data processing was carried out by SPSS 14 and the statistics techniques used went through a cross tabulation analysis and ${\chi}^2$-test. The results are as follows. The difference in the analysis result of purchase path and material as to kinds of clothing products showed a significant difference. The damage types of clothing products were classified into five types: change of color, change of style, change of surface and touch, breakage of subsidiary materials, and others. The damaged clothing products showed a difference for damage frequency according to the items of clothing products; in particular, damage frequency for change of color appeared high. The damage contents of change of color were identified as metachromatism, discoloration and yellowing, stain occurrence, and decolorization. The damage responsibility for these clothing products appeared to be various as to clothing items, but was higher at dry cleaners and manufacturers.

A Study on the color of Daily Clothes of middle Era of the Chosun Dynasty (조선중기 일상복의 색상연구(I)-16.17세기 출토복식 중심-)

  • This study investigates the color of daily clothes of middle era of Yi dynasty by examining the color of excavated clothing which was the real clothes in 16th and 17th centuries. The purposes of this study lie in understanding emotional feeling observed by exact measurement of the color of the excavated and devising a method of reserving the color of the excavated by inspecting the discolored color of the excavated. For this, the color difference was measured by color measuring system. Minolta Chroma-meter, and then recorded in L*a*b system. The 3-dimensional color difference was observed by analyzing these data on Methmetica and change in color with ageing was assessed by reconstructing the color by Phoposhop. The color construction of daily clothes of middle era of the Chosun Dynasty was founded on a philosophy, and it was made up of colors such as white, brown, and blue. This color construction seemed to be based on the philosophy of naturalism symbolizing surrounding nature, e.g., white symbolizes Bak-sasang(bak-philosophy) and blue implies Eumyangohangsul.

  • Enamel layer consists of carbonated hydroxyapatite of 85%, water of 12% and protein of 3% and lipid and tentin consists of carbonated hydroxyapatite of 47%, water of 20% and protein of 33% and lipid so if heat is increased in teeth and then teeth color is discolor. In case high temperature is applied in teeth, teeth color changed quality is measured about change of time for minimize teeth change of color. Spectroscopic light intensity special quality by change of time rise at specification temperature.

The Effect of Tooth Whitener on the Color and Microhardness of Human Enamel in Vitro (미백제가 법랑질 명도 변화에 미세경도에 미치는 영향)

  • Human teeth vary widely in color. Practitioner and patients are concerned with preventing and correcting discolored or dark teeth to achieve and maintain stain-free, white teeth. Tooth brushing cannot alter tooth color but it can remove adhering films and stains. The esthetics of natural dentition can be improved by bleaching and this process can be applied to intrinsically and extrinsically stained teeth. The need for a brighter, more attractive smile has made rapid growth in the market for tooth whiteners. There is no doubt these products work as whiteners, at least on mild to moderate stains, but the safety of these products are unclear. In this experiment, the effect of tooth whitener application on the color and microhardness of extracted human enamel was measured. RMS, RMT and NWT were used as tooth whiteners, and tooth paste(ETQ) and hydrogen peroxide solution(HPO) were used as controls. 35 caries-free extracted human molars were embedded and polished with the exposed enamel diameter of 4 mm. The tooth whiteners and control agents were applied according to the manufacturers' instructions or clinically simulated procedures for eight weeks, and measurements were repeated every two weeks. Value(L*) difference was measured using Differential Colorimeter(Model TC-6FX, Denshoku Co., Japan), and microhardness was measured using microhardness tester(Mitsuzawa Seiki Co., Japan). The results were as follows; 1. After application of agents for eight weeks, the Vickers hardness increased significantly in the ETQ, RMS and RMT application group(p〈0.01), and that decreased significantly in NWT application group(p〈0.01), but in HPO application group there was no significant change. The change in microhardness was greatest in NWT application group(p〈0.01). 2. After application of tooth whiteners and controls for eight weeks, the value change of toothpaste application group was significantly lower than those of other agents groups(p〈0.01), and there was no significant difference in value(L*) change among tooth whitener groups(p〉0.01). 3. The application of tooth paste and paste type tooth whitener made gradual value change, but hydrogen peroxide gel type tooth whitener and hydrogen peroxide solution made rapid value change during initial application period.

  • In order to pursue the traces of truth, boundaries set by man for convenience were crossed or Integrated leading to the discovery of new paradigms. Such phenomena including collaboration, convergence, crossover and etc. are expressed in various forms across the society and culture. In particular, development of digital technology is moving away from its previous color based on scientific, statistical and quantitative perspective by using diverse variables. Also, as the borderlines of genres become increasingly more ambiguous, various concepts of color blending developed rapidly. Thus These chaosmos-like color blending have created new contents. This research aims to understand the principle of color blending in Karim Rashid's work, which advocates the world of design in diverse fields from industrial products to architecture. The principle of color blending such as information change, source color and destination color, interaction, and etc. makes it possible to extract the expressed element and method of color blending. Meanwhile, the features of color blending such as integrated space and time, vague form, and narrative genre can be inferred from case analysis.

A Study on the Color Change in a Union Fabric simulated using a 3-dimensional CAD Software and Image Analysis

  • Colors of textile products or fashionable clothing play one of the most important roles. From the point of visual cues, the realism of an image is the result of a good interaction of local light scattering or transmittance model applied. A 3-dimensional CAD software was used to construct a solid plain fabric model. In order to simulate a union fabric with different warp and filling colors, rendering was performed on the fabric model. It was demonstrated that the iridescent effect, pearl effect, or superficial color change effect of the union fabric during wearer's movement could be explained using the fabric models at inclined fabric positions during viewer's observation.

A study on the color change switch and electrochemical doping of polythiophene (Polythiophene의 전기화학적 도핑과 변색 스위치에 관한 연구)

  • We prepared polythiophene and poly(3-methylthiophene) films, known as conducting polymer, by electrochemical method. Polythiophene and poly(3-methylthiophene) films were doped and undoped dopant for the studing the understanding of doping mechanism and possible application to the color change switch. We observed that the anodic, cathodic wave and absorption spectra were slightly changed during doping and undoping process in polythiophene. It shows that doping and undoping process were showed some difference by the appearance and disappearance of polaron and bi-polaron. In the relation of the peak of oxidative current density and potential sweep rate of cyclic voltammograms, the amount of dopant in polythiophene film was homogeneously increased at low scan rate. This also can be applied to the poly(3-methlythiophene).

Color Change Redox Behavior of the 1,3-Squaraine Dyes

  • The 1,3-bis(4-aminoaryl)squaraines showed color, change behavior, they were found to undergo reduction with sodium borohydride in solution to give colorless leuco compounds, which oxidized readily in air back to the colored squaraine dye. We have shown that initial observations indicated that the derivatives synthesized gave new donor-acceptor chromophores. It is also interesting to note than the oxidation of the leuco squaraines did initially produce a species absorbing about 630-680 wavelengths. The 1,3-squaraines have found many uses as near-infrared absorbers, laser dyes and photoconductive materials. Furthermore their color-change redox behavior has potential in the area of peroxidase-based bioassaysas oxidation sensitive indicator systems were investigated.
