  • A knowledge based expert system is a computer program that emulates the reasoning process of a human expert in a specific problem domain. This paper presents an expert system to diagnose the various faults in power system. The developed expert system is represented considering two points; the possibility of solution and the fast processing speed. As uncertainties exist in the facts and rules which comprise the knowledge base of the expert system, Certainty Factor, which is based on the confirmation theory is used for the inexact reasoning. Also, as the diagnosis problem requires the inductive reasoning process in nature, the solution is imperfect and not unique in general. So the expert system is designed to generate all the possible hypothesis in order of the possibility and also it can explain the propagation procedure of the faults for each solution using the built in backtracking mechanism. In realization of the expert system, the processing speed is greatly dependent upon the problem representation, reasoning scheme and search strategy. So, in this paper the fault diagnosis problem itself is analysed from the view point of Artificial Intelligence and as a result, the expert system has the following basic features. 1) The certainty factor is adopted in the inference engine for inexact reasoning. 2) Problem apace is represented using the problem reduction technique. 3) Bidirectional reasoning scheme is used. 4) Best first search strategy is adopted for rapid processing. The expert system was developed us ing PROLOG language.

  • This study was conducted to examine the relationship among the error risk of high-alert medication, attitudes to single-person checking of medication, and medication safety activities. The participants were 60 nurses working in the intensive care unit. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, analysis of variance, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. The mean scores of the knowledge and certainty of high-alert medication were $0.71{\pm}0.11$ and $2.74{\pm}0.59$, respectively. The mean score of the error risk of high-alert medication was $1.63{\pm}0.24$ and that of attitudes to single checking medication was $3.32{\pm}0.49$. The error risk of high-alert medication had a positive correlation with nurses' attitudes to single checking medication (r = .258, p = .047), which is correlated with the scores for certainty of knowledge (r = .284, p = .028). Based on the results of this study, continuing education for high-alert medication and the development of an accurate protocol for single checking medication are needed to improve the stability of high-alert medication.

  • In this study, database schema which is capable of maintaining various design-knowledge and applicable to the structural designs has been presented. Futhermore, by utilizing the database system, RECODSS (REinforced COncrete Design Support System) was developed as well. Knowledge-base that were formulated from the document is constructed by applying the concrete standard specifications of Korea from 1989. The basic drawing was prepared by $AutoCAD^TM$. As an inference in the preliminary design, the certainty function and the interpolation function were presented. The certainty function is made by assuming linear relations between each data while referencing $MYCIN^TM$ (expert systems). Nevertheless, the interpolation function was made by utilizing the linear Lagrange interpolation. For the search of the design-knowledge, fast search algorithm and full-text search algorithm were used, however, the design engine was programmed with C language. RECODSS was applied for designing a slab and a beam member. And the results were compared with the existing results. In conclusion, RECODSS was able to efficiently manage various design knowledge and to introduce stable design results.

  • Generally, information breach incidents are thought to be caused by external hackers. However, both direct and indirect information breach incidents by insiders are more frequent than by external hackers. It also accounts for more than half of the total information breach, so it should be prepared against insider breach. In this study, based on General Deterrence Theory(GDT) and Rational Choice Theory(RCT), we integrated the risk sensitivity and situational anxiety, which were studied in the field of traffic psychology to construct research model. Result of analysis shows that the impact of risk perceptions on the severity and certainty of perceived punishment was not statistically significant, but perceived benefits, situational anxiety, and severity and certainty of perceived punishment were found to influence the information breach intention.

  • Intentional information systems (IS) misuse is a serious problem in many organizations. This study aims at developing the theoretical framework of deterring IS misuse on the basis of Nagin's General Deterrence Theory (GDT) which is very famous in the area of socio-criminology. Applying GDT to the IS misuse situation could be reasoned that the perceived certainty and the perceived severity of sanctions associated with committing IS misuse have positive impact on deterring the deviant behaviors. Also, these two constructs (certainty of sanctions and severity of sanctions) could be inferred to be influenced by the four types of IS security countermeasures (security policies, security awareness program, monitoring practices and preventive security software) derived through critically reviewing IS security-relevant literature. The proposed research model and ten hypotheses were empirically analysed using structural equation modelling with the data collected by conducting a questionnaire survey of staff members in business organizations in Korea. As a result, it was found that five ones of ten hypotheses were supported. It is thought that this study makes theoretical contribution to expanding research area of IS security and also has strong implications for IS security management practices within organizations.

  • There are few domestic studies on medical services in medically vulnerable areas where medical use is not met due to a lack of medical resources. The past studies on smart medicine targeting medically vulnerable areas grasp only the overall satisfaction level, or the sub-dimensions of satisfaction are not classified clearly. Also, it lacks consideration of the patient's needs. This study aims to analyze the effect of users' experience of the smart medicine pilot project conducted in medically vulnerable areas on satisfaction and demand. The user's experience was measured by variables in the dimensions of structure, process, and outcome. Among the pilot project participants, 282 subjects responded to the 2019 survey. Using the hierarchical regression method, we tried to find out the determinants of satisfaction and service demands. Experience factors affecting satisfaction were found to be accessibility, certainty, effectiveness, and efficiency. In addition, it was found that the demand in their 60s was high and that accessibility, certainty, effectiveness, and efficiency had a statistically significant effect on the demand. It is expected that the smart medicine pilot project will be effectively operated by well utilizing the factors influencing satisfaction and demand revealed in this study.

  • The study incorporates model uncertainty into the private equity (PE) valuation model (SWY model) (Sorensen et al., 2014) to evaluate how model uncertainty distorts the leverage and valuations of PE funds. This study applies a continuous-time model to PE project valuation, modeling the LPs' goal as multiplier preferences provided by Anderson et al. (2003), and assuming that LPs' aversion to model uncertainty causes endogenous belief distortions with entropy as a measure of model discrepancies. Concerns regarding model uncertainty, according to the theoretical model, have an unclear effect on LPs' risk attitude and GPs' decision, which is based on the value of the PE asset. It also demonstrates that model uncertainty lowers the certainty-equivalent valuation of the LPs. Finally, we compare the outcomes of the Full-spanning risk model with the Non-spanned risk model, and they match the intuitive economic reasoning. The most important implication is that model uncertainty will have negative effects on the LPs' certainty-equivalent valuation but has ambiguous effects on the portfolio allocation choice of liquid wealth. Our works contribute to two literature streams. The first is the literature that models the PE funds. The second is the literature introduces model uncertainty into standard finance models.

  • This study sets out to examine how a brand image that matches the advertising model has a positive impact on brand attitude and price fairness perceptions. We reviewed the constructs on the basis of previous studies and each of the concepts has been redefined. One such concept, "image congruence," refers to the harmony, fitness, and matching quality of images. For example, how well celebrity advertising model is matches the brand image shows image congruence. Results are summarized as follows: First, the congruence of brand image and sports advertising model has no significant impact on brand attitude certainty and persistence. Second, the individual's brand attitude certainty and brand attitude persistence has a positive impact on the perceptions of price fairness. Third, the congruence of brand image and sports advertising model has a positive impact on the perceptions of price fairness. The first and the third results suggest that the positive impact on the price fairness perceptions is temporary but it has insignificant effects on the formation of brand attitude causing ongoing purchases. In other words, in order to influence consumers' long-term confidence on the brand, improving the quality of products or services has to precede promotional strategies such as advertising. When an advertising model is inappropriate for the brand image, consumers perceive product price changes as a negative issue in the short term. However, in the long term, attitude formation such as consumers' repurchase intentions and word of mouth will be not affected. The second result suggests that an already existing positive brand attitude can contribute more positively to change the perceptions of price fairness. In particular, attitude persistence has greater influence than attitude certainty on the price fairness. It suggests that persistence issues such as the trading period and the frequency of transactions must be managed and controlled because they are more important than the certainty issues such as strength of belief or trust. For example, when a commercial model for expensive sporting goods matches up with the brand image, consumer feels less pressure on the price changes. However, it does not determine the consumer's repeated purchases or sustainable transactions and it also has no absolute impact on the brand trust. In other words, consumer brand attitude should be recognized and approached as a routine strategy in view of the result that it is of great value as a causal variable in the process of consumer decision-making.

  • This study was conducted to describe the attitude toward pressure ulcer prevention, knowledge and non-compliance risk for pressure ulcer prevention practice and degrees of nursing performance, as well as to examine the relationship among these variables. To accomplish this, we invited 397 nurses from four hospitals to complete surveys of attitude toward pressure ulcer prevention, knowledge and certainty for pressure ulcer prevention practice, and degrees of nursing performance. Non-compliance risk for pressure ulcer prevention practice was derived from the difference between knowledge and certainty for pressure ulcer prevention. The data were collected from March to June 2017 and analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, ANOVA, and partial Pearson's correlation coefficient testing. The correct answer rate regarding the knowledge of pressure ulcer prevention practice was 79%, and the degree of pressure ulcer prevention nursing performance was $2.46{\pm}0.31$. The highest item of the non-compliance risk for pressure ulcer prevention practice was incontinence diapers prevent incontinence-associated dermatitis. There were significant negative correlations between non-compliance risk for pressure ulcer prevention practice and knowledge (r=-0.25, p<0.001), and degree of pressure ulcer prevention nursing performance (r=-0.13, p=0.009). Continuous education and furnishing practical guidelines for pressure ulcer prevention should be implemented to improve knowledge and certainty of pressure ulcer prevention practice.

  • Spatial data integration using multiple geo-based data sets has been regarded as one of the primary GIS application issues. As for this issue, several integration schemes have been developed as the perspectives of mathematical geology or geo-mathematics. However, research-based approaches for statistical/quantitative assessments between integrated layer and input layers are not fully considered yet. Related to this niche point, in this study, spatial data integration using multiple geoscientific data sets by known integration algorithms was primarily performed. For spatial integration by using raster-based GIS functionality, geological, geochemical, geophysical data sets, DEM-driven data sets and remotely sensed imagery data sets from the Ogdong area were utilized for geological thematic mapping related by mineral potential mapping. In addition, statistical/quantitative information extraction with respective to relationships among used data sets and/or between each data set and integrated layer was carried out, with the scope of multiple data fusion and schematic statistical assessment methodology. As for the spatial integration scheme, certainty factor (CF) estimation and principal component analysis (PCA) were applied. However, this study was not aimed at direct comparison of both methodologies; whereas, for the statistical/quantitative assessment between integrated layer and input layers, some statistical methodologies based on contingency table were focused. Especially, for the bias reduction, jackknife technique was also applied in PCA-based spatial integration. Through the statistic analyses with respect to the integration information in this case study, new information for relationships of integrated layer and input layers was extracted. In addition, influence effects of input data sets with respect to integrated layer were assessed. This kind of approach provides a decision-making information in the viewpoint of GIS and is also exploratory data analysis in conjunction with GIS and geoscientific application, especially handing spatial integration or data fusion with complex variable data sets.
