Electronic products are subjected to many different types of shock environment. As the Optical Disc Drive (ODD) market grows, the number of failures related to shock increases. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the performance of cushion package as well as the product design. Cushion materials such as expanded polystyrene are often used to protect electronic products from shock environment. In this paper, the drop analysis of the cushion package f3r optical disc drives was carried out with the explicit method of LS-DYNA and verified by the drop test. For the optimization of package, response surface approximation model was created using central composite design. As a result, cushioning performance was improved under the critical condition and practical design guidelines of cushion package were suggested.

The government continuously increases cigarette price to reduce the smoking rates. Opinions of cigarette makers and Ministry of Health and Welfare on the effect of cigarette price hike are sharply opposed. This dispute is important because there is possibility of additional increase of cigarette price by 500 won. Therefore, as an inquiry into existing studies for the effect of cigarette price hike on tobacco product, namely analysis of the effect of cigarette price hike consumption, we empirically analyzed the effect of cigarette excise tax hike through establishing improved analytic models considering time trend. As a result, it is substantiated that time trend in the effect of cigarette excise tax hike is certainly exist and early impact is heavy. However, the amount of cigarette consumption is recovered to the level of the average in 5 months. Since it is proved that the long term effect of cigarette price hike is immaterial, health authority should reconsider the plan of additional raising cigarette price by 500 won.

Reliable prediction of nuclear fuel rod behavior of nuclear power reactors constitutes a basic demand for steady-state calculations, design purposes, and fuel performance assessment. Perfect design of fuel rods as the first barrier against fission product release is very important. Simulation of fuel rod performance with a code or software is one of the fuel rod design steps. In this study, a software program called MARCODE is developed in MATLAB environment that can analyze the temperature distribution, gap conductance value, and fuel and clad displacement in both solid and annular fuel rods. With a comparison of the maximum fuel temperature, fuel average temperature, fuel surface temperature, and gap conductance in solid and annular fuel, the effects of a central hole on the fuel temperature distribution are investigated.

The enzymatic hydrolysis of chitin has been studied for almost a century, and early work established that at least two enzymes are required, a chitinase that mainly yields the disaccharide N,N'-diacetylchitobiose, or $(GlcNAc)_2$, and a "chitobiase", or ${\beta}$-N-acetylglucosaminidase, which gives the final product G1cNAc. This pathway has not been completely identified but has remained the central concept for the chitin catabolism through the $20^{th}$ century1 including in marine bacteria. However, the chitin catabolic cascade is quite complex, as described in this review. This report describes three biologically functional genes involved in the chitin catabolic cascade of Vibrios in an attempt to better understand the metabolic pathway of chitin.

A simple and safe method has been presented for conversion of olefins into bromohydrins using hydrogen bromide and hydrogen peroxide as bromide source by visible light induced within a very short time to get high yield bromohydrins along with a little mount dibromo-product. In this paper, cyclohexene is firstly carried out as the model substrate and investigated the bromination under HBr/$H_2O_2$ system using 150 W incandescent light irradiated in C$Cl_4$ within short time to get good yield of 2-bromocyclohexanol along with a little mount of 1,2-dibromocyclohexane; then, a series of alkenes are brominated to corresponding bromohydrins using the same protocol.

Mbu-3 is a novel mouse brain unigene that was identified by digital differential display. In this study, expression of the gene was chased through developmental stages and the protein product was identified in the brain. The cDNA sequence was 3,995-bp long and contained an ORF of 745 AA. Database searches revealed that the chicken SST273 gene containing LRR- and Ig-domain was an mbu-3 orthologue. Tissue specificity for the gene was examined in embryos and in brains at post-natal and adult stages. During the embryonic stages, mbu-3 was localized to the central nervous system in the brain and spinal cord. In the early post-natal stages, the gene was evenly expressed in the brain. However, with aging, expression was confined to specific regions, particularly the hippocampus. The protein was approximately 95 kDa as determined by Western blot analysis of brain extracts.

Inspired by fast Jacket transforms, we propose simple factorization and construction algorithms for the M-dimensional discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrices underlying generalized Chinese remainder theorem (CRT) index mappings. Based on successive coprime-order DFT matrices with respect to the CRT with recursive relations, the proposed algorithms are presented with simplicity and clarity on the basis of the yielded sparse matrices. The results indicate that our algorithms compare favorably with the direct-computation approach.

This paper deals with the after-tax economic feasibility analysis of the hydrogen fueling station considering dynamic utilization. We selected an off-site hydrogen station in which the hydrogen is supplied by a central by-product hydrogen plant as a case study. Also, we made some sensitivity analysis by changing input factors such as the discount rate, the hydrogen station construction cost, the hydrogen demand and the hydrogen sale price. As a result, the hydrogen station will not be economical in 2020 due to the relatively high price of the hydrogen station construction cost and the low price of hydrogen sale price. In order to realize the economic feasibility of the hydrogen station in the early stage of the hydrogen economy, the subsidies on the annual operating cost as well as the construction cost are needed.

In this paper, we suggest a new backorder policy for stockout which is occurred in each regional distribution centers of distribution chain for capital-goods product. In backorder process of backorder policy, minimize expected stockout through the balancing-division module, and has occured stockout is backordering through the emergency supply from central distribution center and regional distribution center. Simulation tests show that our backorder policy is on the decrease of backorder cost and improvement of customer service. Our backorder policy has two important benefit. First, customer service level is improved by realization of minimum stockout. Second, the backorder process by allowance of the same level supply is to decrease system operating cost.

We first find strongly 2-primal rings whose sub direct product is not (strongly) 2-primal. Moreover we observe some kinds of ring extensions of (strongly) 2-primal rings. As an example we show that if R is a ring and M is a multiplicative monoid in R consisting of central regular elements, then R is strongly 2-primal if and only if so is $RM^{-1}$. Various properties of (strongly) 2-primal rings are also studied.
