Study on the Welding Parameters of Steel Pipes for Higher Sulfide Stress Corrosion Cracking Resistance for Field Application

  • The Sulfide Stress Corrosion Cracking (SSCC) resistance of structural steels is one of the critical concerns for the operators, material designers, and fabricators of oil-field equipment, especially treating sour gas (H2S) containing fluids. As far as its fabricators concerned, the systematic care of welding parameters should be taken to obtain comparable SSCC resistance of their weldment to that of its base material. In this respect, every different type of welding joint design for this use should be verified to be SSCC-proof with relevant test procedures. In this study, the welding parameters to secure a proper SSCC resistance of steel pipe's weldments were reviewed on the Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR), which had been employed for actual fabrication of an offshore structure for oil and gas production. Based on this review, a guideline of welding parameters, such as, heat input, welding consumable for Y.S. 65 ksi class steel pipe material is proposed in terms of the NACE criteria for SSCC resistance.

Experimental Quality Characteristics for Water Removal in Inner Flushing Oil in Process Piping of Offshore Plant (해양플랜트 프로세스 배관 내경 플러싱 오일속에서 수분제거를 위한 실험적 품질 특성)

  • An important problem of offshore plant process piping is equipment accidents due to the removal of fine metal debris and foreign substances in the pipes that deliver fluids such as hydraulic oil, lubricating oil and thermal oil. Temporary flushing equipment to remove debris uses fluid equipment of centrifugal pump and gear pump to prevent equipment accident of offshore platform. The equipment manufacturer requires the shipyard to have a cleanliness rating inside the pipe to meet the international standards ISO4406 and NAS1638 quality levels to prevent damage to the equipment sold. The quality of the internal flushing of pipes conforms to the regulations suggested by the equipment manufacturer. In this paper, three types of electric heater capacity, which is a method of evaporating and removing water inside a pipe during an oil flushing process, were compared. In addition, the study was conducted to remove the flushing oil in the pipe and to improve oil quality.

  • Various pipes are used in the many industrial field such as water supply, drainage system and marine plants, so a maintenance of these pipes is essential. Especially, the maintenance of the piping in the industrial field, some professional staffs enter and clean the pipe. If the professional staffs can not enter and clean the pipe, the workers has to use the method of inserting a scraper connected to wire inside the pipe. However, this method demands huge budget and causes a number of problems such as traffic congestion. To solve these problems, pipe cleaning robot has been researching and developing. Many Pipe cleaning robots have a problem, that is impossible to confirm the operating condition of the robot in a real time. This paper suggest pipe cleaning robot with RS-485 which transmit operating and cleaning condition of robot and inner pipe filmed by camera, that user can check.

  • In this study, a fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) pipe with superior wear resistance was developed to replace the fly ash pipe of cast iron. Wear test was performed with various combinations of SiC filler and resin materials of unsaturated polyester, vinylester, epoxy, and phenol. Test results of ASTM D4060 showed the optimal combinations of resin, filler size, and resin/filler ratios. Test results of comparison between FRP and cast iron showed the possibility to replace cast iron pipe with the FRP pipe. Field test executed to compare the wear resistance between cast iron pipe and developed FRP pipe showed the superiority of the FRP pipe.

  • The Process of Pressurized water diffusion is mixing process by pressurized water injection with coagulate and chlorine water in the water treatment system. The objectives of this research were to evaluate the mixing length and diameter of diffusion plate and distance from injection pipe for complete mixing by using computational fluid dynamics. From the results of CFD simulation, when diameter of injection pipe is 50 mm, 100 mm and injection pressure is $5kg/cm^2$ and the diameter of inlet pipe is 2,200 mm, the complete mixing length is 4D (D: Length as diameter of inlet pipe). When diameter of injection pipe is 50 mm, the diameter of the diffusion plate in o.1D and distance from injection pipe is 0.2D, the complete mixing length is 3D that is the most short mixing length. But when diameter of injection pipe is 100 mm and mutually related the diameter, distance of diffusion plate, the complete mixing length is 4D over. Therefore, as the diameter of inlet pipe is 2,200 mm, the injection pipe 50 mm is more efficient than 100 mm.

  • Sewer Pipes are not being managed for twenty years after laying. So, The life span of sewer pipes is on the decrease. For solve the life span decrease of sewer pipes, correct checking of questions and measure preparation are necessary through investigation in sewer pipes. This research investigated on the state of sewer pipes in the housing and industrial sites through CCTV(closed-circuit television) and device of digitalized strain investigation. And, a result is as follows. A results of PE, PVC, GRP, CSP investigations were found of pipe-transformation state by earth pressure and external load.

  • This experimental study is aimed to increasing the velocity in the sewerage and also development of easy removal method for a corrosion and sand in the flow pipe. And the result by the increasing the out flow per unit time, diameter of sewerage pipe is becoming small size, cut down the construction fee and the same time reducing the tubulent flow pattern in the flow pipe. As a result of detected experimental velocity signal from the probe in the test wall surface, reducing the pump power and increasing the out flow unit time. Apparent water velocity decreases as the value of void ratio increases depends on the varies center of pipe.

  • 본 논문에서는 손가락 관절의 운동범위와 MediaPipe 손 추적기를 이용하여 3 차원 손 추적 방법을 설계하였다. MediaPipe 손 추적기가 추정한 신뢰할 수 있는 2 차원 좌표를 바탕으로 손 랜드마크의 깊이를 추정한 후, 손가락 관절 운동범위와 부합한 결과를 도출하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 3 차원 손 추적 방법은 전용 하드웨어 없이 동작하며 기존의 3 차원 손 추적기에 비해 보다 직관적인 인간-컴퓨터 인터페이스 확산에 긍정적 영향을 줄 것으로 기대한다.

Thickness Evaluation of Pipeline Using Density Profile on a Radiograph (방사선투과필름에서 Density Profile을 이용한 배관의 두께 평가)

  • The computer simulation has been done for non-insulated and insulated pipes which are vacant or half filled with liquid. The simulation results showed that the density profile on the radiography is continuous and symmetrical around the center of pipe in the case of vacant pipe. On the other hand the density profiles are not symmetrical and depend on geometrical setting for radiography in the case of half filled pipes. Finally, experimental testing on a non-insulated carbon steel pipe with artificial notches of different depth is carried out using Ir-192 and industrial film. Comparing the measured density profile on the radiograph to the calculated one, it has been shown that it is possible to evaluate thickness variation by measuring density profile on a radiograph.
