Bone cement augmentation procedures have been getting more position as a minimally invasive surgical option for osteoporotic spinal fractures. However, complications related to these procedures have been increasingly reported. We describe a case of bone cement dislodgement following cement augmentation procedure for osteoporotic spinal fracture by reviewing the patient's medical records, imaging results and related literatures. A 73-year-old woman suffering back and buttock pain following a fall from level ground was diagnosed as an osteoporotic fracture of the 11th thoracic spine. Percutaneous kyphoplasty was performed for this lesion. Six weeks later, the patient complained of a recurrence of back and buttock pain. Radiologic images revealed superior dislodgement of bone cement through the 11th thoracic superior endplate with destruction of the lower part of the 10th thoracic spine. Staged anterior and posterior fusion was performed. Two years postoperatively, the patient carries on with her daily living without any significant disability. Delayed bone cement dislodgement can occur as one of complications following bone cement augmentation procedure for osteoporotic spinal fracture. It might be related to the presence of intravertebral cleft, lack of interdigitation of bone cement with the surrounding trabeculae, and possible damage of endplate during ballooning procedure.
PURPOSE. The purpose of the current study was to evaluate the effect of incorporating nanoparticles of silver (NAg) and amorphous calcium phosphate (NACP) into a self-etching primer of a resin cement on the microtensile bond strength of dentin, regarding the proven antibacterial feature of NAg and remineralizing effect of NACP. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Flat, mid-coronal dentin from 20 intact extracted human third molars were prepared for cementation using Panavia F2.0 cement. The teeth were randomly divided into the four test groups (n=5) according to the experimental cement primer composition: cement primer without change (control group), primer with 1% (wt) of NACP, primer with 1% (wt) of physical mixture of NACP+Nag, and primer with 1% (wt) of chemical mixture of NACP+Nag. The resin cement was used according to the manufacturer's instructions. After storage in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 h, the bonded samples were sectioned longitudinally to produce $1.0{\times}1.0mm$ beams for micro-tensile bond strength testing in a universal testing machine. Failure modes at the dentin-resin interface were observed using a stereomicroscope. The data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and Tukey's post-hoc tests and the level of significance was set at 0.05. RESULTS. The lowest mean microtensile bond strength was obtained for the NACP group. Tukey's test showed that the bond strength of the control group was significantly higher than those of the other experimental groups, except for group 4 (chemical mixture of NACP and NAg; P=.67). CONCLUSION. Novel chemical incorporation of NAg-NACP into the self-etching primer of resin cement does not compromise the dentin bond strength.
The permeability of concrete is closely related to the durability and the latter may be
expressed by measuring permeability of concrete. According to the results, the permeability of
fly ash concrete was lower than that of OPC(PC1) concrete and decreased with increasing fly
ash levels(l5%, 30% and 45%). The permeability values of concrete cured in water is significantly
lower than those of concrete cured in air, but the differences were reduced with increasing
fly ash level. In comparison with OPC(PC1) concrete and high fly ash concrete containing
enhanced early strength cements, the latter also had a lower permeability than the former. The
permeability of concrete cured in water was decreased with curing time(28 and 180 days) irrespectwe
of cement types. However, the trend of results cured in air was opposite to that cured in
water due to the rnicrocrackinp: of concrete. It was found that the properties of strength and
permeability of concrete were related each other. However, the permeability of concrete was
more dependant upon the type of binder used in concrete.
In this study, it is experimentally verified a feasibility of the wasted phosphogypsum ($CaSO_4/H_2O$) that is a byproduct from the phosphoric acid process of manufacturing fertilizers can be applied as an admixture in slag cement. For the test, phosphogypsum is modified as dihydrate, hemihydrate, type III anhydrite, and type II anhydrite, and then chemical characteristics and mechanical properties of various slag cements containing above mentioned gypsum materials were analyzed. The test results show that the gypsum made at high temperature has better quality with decrease of water-soluble phosphoric acid ($S-P_2O_5$) which has an effect on the quality of cement. And type II anhydrite shows superior quality in terms of drying shrinkage and the compressive strength of cement paste with hemihydrate at 56 days is higher than other gypsum material.

A Cement account for the most amount than other materials in the material composition of ultra-high-performance concrete. If we especially consider the effect of high temperature curing on the cement hydration and the problems of autogenous shrinkage, heat of hydration we need selection of proper cement type by grasping influence of cement in the properties of UHPC. Therefore, in this paper we examined properties of fluidity, compressive strength and elastic modulus of UHPC due to domestic portland cement types. In results, we could get a result that the low heat cement increase fluidity, compressive strength in UHPC compare with high early strength cement and ordinary portland cement. we are systematically going to examination on the influence of UHPC by domestic portland cement types.
In-Ceram system is one of contemporary esthetic all ceramic restorations and has relatively high flexural strength. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the marginal fidelity according to type of resin cement and measuring position, and to evaluate fracture strength according to type of resin cement. In this study, twenty seven In-Ceram crowns were fabricated on the metal master die of prepared maxillary right central incisor and devided into three groups. All specimens were cemented with Panavia 21 (group PV), Super-bond (group SB) and Lute-it (group LI) on the metal master die. After cementation, specimens were measured marginal gap between the margin of the In-Ceram crown and the finishing line of metal master die by using a stereomicroscope (SZ-ST, Olympus, Japan). Marginal gaps were recorded at the labial, lingual, mesial and distal measuring points on the metal master die. For the mesurement of fracture strength, lingual surfaces of cemented specimens were loaded at a distance of 1mm from incisal edge by using the Autograph S-2000 (Shimadzu, Japan). The results of marginal fidelity and fracture strength were statistically analyzed with the SPSS version 8.0 programs. The results of this study were as follows: 1. In comparison of marginal fidelity according to the measuring points, there was no significant difference. 2. The marginal fidelity according to the type of resin cement was decreased in order of group $LI\;(63.75{\mu}m),\;SB\;(77.78{\mu}m),\;PV\;(86.53{\mu}m)$, and there was significant difference between group LI and PV (p<0.05). 3. The fracture strength according to the type of resin cement was showed descending order of group $LI\;(60.00kg/cm^2),\;SB\;(56.80kg/cm^2),\;PV\;(56.11kg/m^2)$, but there was no significant difference.
PURPOSE. To assess the degree of conversion (DC) and light irradiance delivered to light-cured and dual-cured cements by application of different light sources through various types of monolithic computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) materials. MATERIALS AND METHODS. RelyX Ultimate Clicker light-cured and dual-cured resin cement specimens with 1.5-mm thicknesses (n=300, 10/group), were placed under four types of crystalline core structure (Vita Enamic, Vita Suprinity, GC Ceresmart, Degudent Prettau Anterior). The specimens were irradiated for 40 seconds with an LED Soft-Start or pulse-delay unit or 20 seconds with a QTH unit. DC ratios were determined by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) after curing the specimen at 1 day and 1 month. The data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test (for paired comparison) and the Kruskal-Wallis H test (for multiple comparison), with a significance level of P<.05. RESULTS. DC values were the highest for RelyX Ultimate Clicker light-cure specimens polymerized with the LED Soft-Start unit. The combination of the Vita Suprinity disc and RelyX Ultimate Clicker dual-cure resin cement yielded significantly higher values at both timepoints with all light units (all, P<.05). CONCLUSION. Within the limitations of this study, we conclude that the DC of RelyX Ultimate Clicker dual-cure resin cement was improved significantly by the use of Vita Suprinity and the LED Soft-Start light unit. We strongly recommend the combined use of an LED light unit and dual-cure luting cement for monolithic ceramic restorations.

PURPOSE. Fractures, occlusal adjustments, or marginal corrections after removing excess composite cements result in rough surfaces of all-ceramic FPDs. These have to be polished to prevent damage of the surrounding tissues. The aim of this study was to evaluate the roughness of zirconia, silicate-ceramic, and composite after polish with different systems for intraoral use. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Each set of 50 plates was made of zirconia, silicate-ceramic, and composite. All plates were ground automatically and were divided into 15 groups according to the treatment. Groups Zgrit, Sgrit, and Cgrit received no further treatment. Groups Zlab and Slab received glaze-baking, and group Clab was polished with a polishing device. In the experimental groups Zv, Sv, Cv, Zk, Sk, Ck, Zb, Sb, and Cb, the specimens were polished with ceramic-polishing systems "v", "k", and "b" for intraoral use. Roughness was measured using profilometry. Statistical analysis was performed with ANOVA and $Scheff{\acute{e}}$-procedure with the level of significance set at P=.05. RESULTS. All systems reduced the roughness of zirconia, but the differences from the controls Zgrit and Zlab were not statistically significant (P>.907). Roughness of silicate ceramic was reduced only in group Sv, but it did not differ significantly from both controls (P>.580). Groups Cv, Ck, and Cb had a significantly rougher surface than that of group Clab (P<.003). CONCLUSION. Ceramic materials can be polished with the tested systems. Polishing of interface areas between ceramic and composite material should be performed with polishing systems for zirconia first, followed by systems for veneering materials and for composite materials.
Thermal stresses due to the heat of hydration can cause extensive cracking in subway structures. In order to reduce heat cracks, construction methods (e.g. sequential or skipping construction methods) need to be changed. However, to our knowledge, the existing literature contains little information on the correlation between heat cracks and construction methods. Thus, in this study, the temperature crack index table was suggested based on construction lengths (6 m, 9 m and 18 m), concrete mixtures (Type I cement with FA of 20 % in cement weight, Type IV cement with FA of 10 % in cement weight, and mixture of three different cements), construction seasons (spring or autumn, summer and winter) and construction method (sequential or skipping construction methods). The index table can be easily used corresponding to changes in concrete placing method at the construction site. Also, the correlation of cracking due to sequential or skipping construction methods was derived based on the statistical approaches.
For the enhancement of the concrete durability, we developed high - durable portland cement (ACTPC) by physical treatment of ordinary portland cement with asphalt and carbon black. In this research, the hydration reaction characteristics of ACTPC were studied by using SEM, X-Ray, Conduction Micro Calolimeter etc. When the ACTPC is mixed with water, it is believed the asphalt films on cement particles suppress the early stage of hydration reactions of cements, because the films hinder the contact with water and the elusion of soluble ions from particles. But the carbon blacks on the cement particles accelerated the hydration reactions of cement after a while, because the micro particles can be used as seed crystals in $CaO-SiO_2-H_2O$ gel formation.
