To develop ceramic composite anodes of solid oxide fuel cells without metal catalysts, a small amount of barium carbonate was added to an $(La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2})(Cr_{0.5}Mn_{0.5})O_3(LSCM)$ - YSZ ceramic composite anode and its catalytic effects on the electrode performance were investigated. A barium precursor solution with citric acid was used to synthesize the barium carbonate during ignition, while a barium precursor solution without citric acid was used to create hydrated barium hydroxide. The addition of barium carbonate to the ceramic composite anode caused stable fuel cell performance at 1073 K; this performance was higher than that of a fuel cell with $CeO_2$ catalyst; however, the addition of hydrated barium hydroxide to the ceramic composite anode caused poor stability of the fuel cell performance.
This paper presents a multi-scale hybrid simulation for the design of a catalytic multi-tubular reactor with high performance. The multi-tubular reactor consists of shell and a large number of tubes in which various catalytic chemical reactions occur. To consider fluid dynamics in the shell-side and kinetics in the tube-side at the same time, commercial CFD package and process simulation tool are coupled. This hybrid approach allowed us to predict many kinds of meaningful results such as tube center temperature profile, heat transfer coefficients on the tube wall, temperature rise of cooling medium, pressure drop through shell and tube side, concentration profile of each chemical species along the tube, and so on., and to achieve the optimal reactor design.
Fueled by ballooning oil prices, waste plastics are now regarded as being cheap and abundant renewable sources, removing their stigma of dirty wastes Catalytic pryolysis of plastics in liquid phase allows recovery of light fuel oil as well as green treatment of polymerics wastes, and therefore significant efforts have been devoted to this research field. In this study, catalytic Pyrolysis of LDPE was carl ied out in semi-batch reactor which equipped a unit of separation and recirculation. The effect of react ion conditions were examined by analyzing liquid oil yield and carbon number distribution of products
A sub-millimeter scale catalytic combustor with a simple plate-shaped combustion chamber was fabricated. A porous ceramics support coated with platinum catalyst was placed in the chamber. The combustor has a gallium arsenide window on the top that is transparent to infrared ray. The temperature distribution in the combustion chamber was measured using infrared thermal imager while hydrogen-air premixture is steadily supplied to the combustor. The area where the catalytic reaction took place broaden for higher flow rate and lower equivalence ratio made activated area in the combustion chamber broaden. The amount of coated platinum catalyst did not affect the reaction. Stop of reaction, which is similar to flame quenching of conventional combustion, was investigated. Large content of heat generation and broad activated area are essential criteria to prevent stop of reaction that has a bad effect on the combustor performance.
This study was focused on the catalytic activity for the combustion of low-concentration methane using various commerical catalysts (six transition metal catalysts in Russia and one rare earth metal (Honeycomb) catalyst in Korea). Catalytic activity was strongly influenced by the type and loading content of metal supported in catalyst. Catalytic performance showed the highest activity in Honeycomb catalyst including rare earth metal, which was the most expensive catalyst, while the next was the catalyst supported Cu with high content (AOK-78-52) and also that supported Cr and Co (AOK-78-56). However, both AOK-78-52 and AOK-78-56 catalysts that were very cheap had lower activation energy than Honeycomb catalyst. In the economical field, both AOK-78-52 and AOK-78-56 catalysts with transition metals showed a good alternative catalyst on the combustion of methane.

Graphene nanosheets (GNS), nitrogen-doped graphene nanosheets (N-GNS), and sulfur-doped graphene nanosheets (S-GNS) were successfully synthesized, and their catalytic effects on the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in $Li-O_2$ batteries were compared. The S-GNS electrode exhibited the highest ORR catalytic activity, resulting in enhanced discharge capacity and power capability. We attributed the enhanced ORR catalytic activity to the increased defect sites on graphene.
The key issues for the reduction technologies of the exhaust gas from diesel engine being developed are to reduce particulate matters and NOx. Performance of NOx removal in SCR process depends on such various factors as catalyst factors(catalyst composition, shape, velocity, etc.), exhaust gas temperature and velocity distribution. In this study checked flow uniformity with the flow characteristics in the SCR reactor by using STAR CCM+. The pressure drop of experiment and simulation had similar result more than 90% at catalytic Cell. Also, flow uniformity calculated about 0.9036 ant 1st catalytic ind SCR reactor.
The effect of fabrication method of catalytic layer on electrode performance has been investigated. Brush, spray gun and screen printer were used as fabrication tool and catalytic layers were formed by several methods in screen printing. Direct screen printing on polymer membrane, screen printing on carbon paper, and their combined method were applied. In the electrode fabricated by the screen printing method, Pt loading of Pt/C catalysts could be cut down to 50%, compared with results by the brushing and spraying methods. The best result of electrode was obtained as 0.6 V, at 1 A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ when catalytic layer was formed by the combined way.
Graphene oxide (GO) was prepared by modified Hummer's method to produce reduced graphene oxide (RGO) following standard thermal and chemical reduction processes. Prepared RGO colloids were utilized to fabricate RGO films over glass and FTO coated glass substrates through drop-coating. A systematic study was performed to evaluate the effect of reduction degree on the optical and electrical properties of the RGO film. We demonstrate that both the reduction process (thermal and chemical) produce RGO films of similar optical and electrical behaviors. However, the RGO films fabricated using chemically reduced GO colloid render better performance in dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), when they are used as counter electrodes (CEs). It has been demonstrated that RGO films of optimum thicknesses fabricated using RGO colloids prepared using lower concentration of hydrazine reducer have better catalytic performance in DSSCs due to a better catalytic interaction with redox couple. The better catalytic performance of the RGO films fabricated at optimal hydrazine concentration is associated to their higher available surface area and lower grain boundaries.
