  • This paper proposes an effective method to create logically consistent and structured requirement model by applying consistency control approach of the formal method to the use-case modeling. This method integrates the multi-perspective scattered requirement segments that may overlap and conflict each other into a structured requirement model. The model structure can be analyzed based on context goal and concerned area overlap analysis. The model consistency can be achieved by using specification overlap-based consistency checking method as an integration vehicle. An experimental application to case study shows that the Proposed method can successfully identify requirement overlaps and inconsistency. It can also transfer multi-viewpoint requirement segments into a consistently integrated use-case model to clarify software behaviors and functionality This method helps users to enhance capability to identify specification inconsistency in the use-case modeling at the early stage of software engineering development. The proposed approach can also facilitate communication between users and developers to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • For a quantitative inspection on the performance of weathering steel bridges, we have investigated the relationship between the corrosion rate and the composition of the rust layers formed on weathering steel bridges located in various environments in Japan and applied a protective ability index (PAI) to the bridges. The corrosion rates were clearly classified by the PAI, ${\alpha}/{\gamma}*$ and sub index of $({\beta}+s)/{\gamma}*$, where $\alpha$, \gamma*, $\beta$ and s are the mass ratio of crystalline $\alpha-FeOOH$, the total of $\gamma$-FeOOH+ $\beta$-FeOOH + the spinel-type iron oxide (mainly $Fe_3O_4$), $\beta-FeOOH$ and spinel-type iron oxide, analyzed by powder X-ray diffraction, respectively. In the case of ${\alpha}/{\gamma}$*>1, the rust layer works protective enough to reduce the corrosion rate less than 0.01 mm/y. The sub index $({\beta}+s)/{\gamma}*$<0.5 or >0.5 classifies the corrosion rate of the non-protective rust layers, therefore the former state of the rust layer terms inactive and the latter terms active. The quantitative inspection of a weathering steel bridge requires a performance-inspection (PI) and periodical deteriorationinspections (DI). The PI can be completed by checking of the PAI, ${\alpha}/{\gamma}*$. The DI on the weathering steel bridges where deicing salt is sprinkled can be performed by checking the PAI, $({\beta}+s)/{\gamma}*$.

Abstract Detecting races is important for debugging shared-memory parallel programs, because the races lead to unintended nondeterministic executions of the programs as well as erroneous result and then make debugging programs difficult. Especially, detecting the first races is more important. The reason is that the removal of the first races can make other races disappear. Most existing on-the-fly techniques to detect the races are based on per- access reporting method incurring the serious central bottleneck, because the techniques use unique shared information called access history for checking all accesses of concurrent threads to a shared variable. Such bottleneck, however, can be improved considerably in case of detecting first races. This paper presents a new on-the-fly technique which detects the first races with reduced bottleneck through checking each accesses with private access histories and finally reporting races with shared access histories. Therefore, this technique makes on-the-fly race detection more efficient and practical.

  • Model checking method is able to check all possible cases automatically and is applicable to specifications or design before actual implementation so that some critical systems have adopted this method actively. However, the current practice of software verification is largely dependant on basic methods such as manual testing because of lack of understanding about this rigorous method and high verification cost. In this paper we conducted an experimental research for the automated verification using the SPIN model checker on an online-game server to study the applicability of the technique in this domain. The results show that we could verify major features of the online-game server party system with 5~7 GB memory and within 10 minutes execution time, and also found a hidden system error that passed existing testing process. This result shows the possibility of rigorous and effective verification with reasonable cost in comparison to manual testing.

  • The article examines the stage of verification of a crime report from the standpoint of the need for its legislative regulation. Moreover, it investigates the international experience in this field. The existing procedural models are described in detail on the example of the neighboring and faraway countries. An analysis of the provisions of the current criminal procedure law of Russia and foreign experience allowed the authors to identify existing problems in the implementation of departmental control and prosecutorial supervision at the stage of verifying a crime report. The aim of the study is to develop theoretical provisions and recommendations regarding the implementation of departmental procedural control and prosecutorial supervision over the activities of the investigator during the verification of reports of crimes, based on the study of experience, both in Russia and in a number of countries of the near and far abroad, which could find their reflection in law enforcement practice, as well as aimed at improving the current criminal procedure legislation. The authors substantiated the theory that a detailed examination of the foreign procedural foundations of checking a crime report will allow us to form the most suitable model for checking a crime report for our state, taking into account all possible features and successfully implement it into the current criminal procedural law of the Russian Federation.

  • In this study, a series of three-dimensional numerical parametric study was conducted to investigate deformation mechanisms of an existing box culvert due to an adjacent multi-propped basement excavation in clays. Field measurements from an excavation case history are first used to calibrate a baseline Hardening Soil Small Strain (HS-small) model, which is subsequently adopted for parametric study. Results indicate that the basement-box culvert interaction along the basement centerline can be considered as a plane strain condition when the length of excavation (L) reaches 14 He (i.e., final excavation depth). If a plane strain condition (i.e., L/He=12.0) is assumed for analyzing the basement-box culvert interaction of a short excavation (i.e., L/He=2.0), the maximum settlement and horizontal movement of the box culvert are overestimated significantly by up to 15.7 and 5.1 times, respectively. It is also found that the deformation of box culvert can be greatly affected by the basement excavation if the distance between the box culvert and retaining wall is less than 1.5 He. The induced deformation in the box culvert can be dramatically reduced by improving the ground inside the excavation or implementing other precautionary measures. For example, by adding jet grouting columns within the basement and installing an isolation wall behind the retaining structures, the maximum settlements of box culvert are shown to reduce by 37.2% and 13.4%, respectively.

  • As the meter reading method of gas meters develops, smart gas meters capable of remote meter reading (leak checking meters and multi-function safety meters) are being used. These meters have a function to judge leakage by utilizing the flow rate and pressure data collected as an additional function. Leakage judgment function using flow rate data has valid cases in the actual field, but the pressure data-based leakage judgment standard is based on not only the pressure value change due to leakage but also various factors (pressure regulator pressure, connection with adjacent meters, usage of adjacent houses, location of meters, etc.). There is a problem with pressure magnitude changes (levels). In this paper, as a technique that can judge leaks by using pressure data collected from smart gas meters, it was developed through preprocessing of pressure data, criteria for pressure value ranges related to leaks, leak judgment techniques, and application case verification.

  • To obtain the informations on the checking factors of the effecient utilization of paddies in chungnam province and study on the effecient working system and high productive cropping system in paddies, the utilization state of paddies including environmental conditions were investigated at sample 1,500 farms. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. The difficulty of drainage in paddies was the most important factor checking the utility of paddies. Delayed transplanting of rice and lack of labour were also important checking factors on the efficient utilization of paddies. 2. The utilization of paddies was rather effecient at small size farms of which farmers were almost poor, and most of them cultivated barley for their own food. 3. Considering climatic conditions, pre-crops of rice must be harvested before June 10 tho and the marginal transplanting date of rice plant is June 25 th. 4. In case of planting barley as a post-crop after rice, the spread seeding by rotary before plowing was most efficient with lowest cost. 5. Considering rice cultivation, yield of barley and net income, the most efficient cropping system was "Josaengtongil + Olbori".
