  • This study attempts to reveal the causal relationship between certain variables, with the objective being to investigate the influence of career disability on self-efficacy and career preparation behavior of Chinese college students. In terms of data collection, online surveys were conducted during the period spanning September 1 to September 20, 2022 targeting fourth-year university students living in Liaoning, China. A total of 536 completed surveys were used for the final analysis, and the SPSS 25.0 program was employed in this regard. The results of the study confirmed that the career barriers of Chinese college students had both positive and negative effects on career decision-making self-efficacy and career preparation behavior, signaling a partial causal relationship. This indicates that career barriers are not only negative factors in career decision-making or career preparation. The current study is meaningful in that the results can serve as the basis for future studies, as the work itself investigated the influence of career barriers on career decision self-efficacy and career preparation behavior; additionally, the results were quantified. It is anticipated that there will be further studies on such influences considering the diverse variables of career barriers, career decision self-efficacy, and career preparation behavior. The results of this study are expected to provide useful information on career preparation to Chinese college students - information which can be used as empirical data.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between career decision-making self-efficacy, character strength, and gratitude as a factor influencing the happy life of adults. Subjects were 89 adults in university and graduate school. SPSS 23.0 and PROCESS Macro were used for data analysis. Significant correlations were found between career decision-making self-efficacy, character strength, gratitude, and happy life. The direct effect of career decision-making self-efficacy, an independent variable, on happy life, a dependent variable, was not significant. Character strength and gratitude, which are mediators, were significant. Therefore, the indirect effect and the total effects showed significant results. Career decision-making self-efficacy does not directly predict a happy life, but if it mediates character strengths and gratitude, it means that a happy life can be predicted.

The participants were 136 nursing college students in the Jeonbuk region. Data was collected in September 2020 via a structured questionnaire survey. The data was analyzed using the SPSS/23.0 program. The analysis used descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, multiple regression analysis, and Sobel's tests. The results showed that emotional intelligence was a circle activity (F=3.13, p=.047), and motivation to nursing (F=4.16, p=.008). Resilience was a circle activity (F=5.50, p=.005), and nursing major satisfaction (t=2.19, p=.031). Career decision-making self-efficacy showed significant differences in grade (F=3.12, p=.048) and major satisfaction (t=2.36, p=.020). Emotional intelligence and resilience (r=.63, p<.001), emotional intelligence and career decision-making self-efficacy (r=.67, p<.001), resilience and career decision-making self-efficacy (r=.76, p<.001) showed significant static correlation. In emotional intelligence and career decision-making self-efficacy, resilience had a partial mediating effect (Z=6.48, p<.001), and explanatory power was 62.2%. Based on the results of this study, to improve the emotional intelligence and career decision-making self-efficacy of nursing students, it is necessary to develop a personalized and resilience-enhanced education program.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to test the effect of a Career Search Program on career search efficacy, career search behavior, and career decision making for nursing students. Methods: A non-equivalent pre-post test of a quasi-experimental design was used. Fifty first grade nursing students participated in the study with 22 in the experimental group and 28 in the control group. We used a Career Search Program which was held 6 times over 6 weeks, 90 minutes per session. Descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, and independent t-test were used for statistical analysis with SPSS 19.0. Results: There were significant increases in career search efficacy (t=2.07, p=.044) and career search behavior(t=2.65, p=.011) in the experimental group compared to the control group. However, career decision making was not significantly changed (t=0.96, p=.342). Conclusion: These results suggest that a Career grade Search Program has an effect on increasing career search efficacy and career search behavior in first grade nursing students. In addition, more programs to impact career decision making should be developed for nursing college students.

  • This study examined the sequential mediation effects of academic achievement attribution and career decision-making self-efficacy on the effect of paternal and maternal helicopter parenting on high-school students' career preparation behavior. A total of 285 (119 male and 166 female) Korean high-school students in the second grade participated in the study. Research variables were measured using the Career Preparation Behavior Scale (Kim, 1997), Helicopter Parenting Scale (LeMoyne & Buchanan, 2011), Attribution Questionnaire (Weiner, 1979), and Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy Scale-Short Form (Betz et al., 1996). To examine the sequential mediating effect, data analysis was performed using SPSS 29.0 and PROCESS MACRO (v4.2) Model 6. The results revealed no correlations between helicopter parenting and academic failure attribution. However, higher paternal and maternal helicopter parenting were found to indirectly reduce high-school students' career preparation behavior through lower internal academic success attribution (effort and ability) and higher external academic success attribution (task difficulty and luck), which reduced career decision-making self-efficacy. These findings can be employed to develop more effective intervention programs comprising career guidance for adolescents, which emphasizes the negative effect of helicopter parenting. This study expands the research field, as previous findings on helicopter parenting mostly focus on college students.
