격벽에 의한 조분리와 내부반송을 이용한 산화구 시설의 고도처리개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Treatment of Nutrients and Organic Carbon in Wastewater through Spatial Separation and Internal Recycling in a Modified Oxidation Ditch)

  • This study was performed to assess the removal efficiency on nitrogen, phosphorus and organic carbon in wastewater by spatial separation and internal recycling in a modified oxidation ditch process (modified OD). The performances of the modified OD were evaluated via laboratory-scale experiments. The process was operated at hydraulic retention times of 6-48 hours and solid retention times of 17-38 days. We found that organic carbon removal efficiency increased after the modified OD operation period. T-N removal efficiency remained stable; average T-N concentration of effluent was 8.02 mg/l after modified OD operation. In contrast, T-P concentration of effluent was over 1 mg/l. Nitrogen and phosphorus removal efficiency of modified OD at HRT 12 hr were 83.1% and 74.1%, respectively. Also, maximum efficiency was found at SRTs from 20 to 30 days. T-N removal efficiency was 83.1% at a C/N ratio from 3.0 to 3.5. However, T-N removal efficiency decreased at C/N ratios over 3.5. Also, T-P removal efficiency increased with HRT at C/P ratios in the same condition. Maximum efficiency was 74.1% at a C/P ratio from 25 to 28. T-N removal efficiency was 79.2% and T-P removal efficiency was 65.3% after M4 mode operation (added to the internal recycle line connected to the anoxic reactor). The modified OD with spatial separation and internal recycling developed in this study is, therefore, believed to be an improvement for solving problems in the nutrient removal technologies.

PAC-A/O 공정을 이용한 안료폐수의 질소 제거 특성 (Nitrogen removal characteristics of pigment wastewater using PAC-A/O process)

  • The objectives of this study were to evaluate the removal characteristics of total nitrogen, the influence factor of denitrification and the optimum operating condition in the pigment wastewater treatment using PAC-A/O process. The operating conditions of PAC-A/O process were mean BOD volumetric loading $0.86kgBOD/m^3/day$, mean F/M ratio 0.072~0.13 kgBOD/kgMLVSS/day and mean C/N ratio 3.47, respectively. The conditions of anoxic process in the field plant test were mean pH 8.3~8.7 and mean temperature $34.1{\sim}44.0^{\circ}C$. The ORP bending point knee was eventually appeared in the ORP -107 mV and $NO_3{^-}-N$ removal efficiency was increased according to the ORP decrease. In the ORP -107 mV below condition, the removal efficiency of T-N and $NO_3{^-}-N$ was 92.3~95.0% and 98.5~99.7%. Denitrification rate was calculated to be 1.581~1.791 mg $NO_3{^-}-N/gMLSS/hr$. The experimental results showed that the ORP control in the PAC-A/O process could be an effective method for treatment of pigment wastewater.

여자만 북서부 꼬막양식어장의 해양환경 특성. 1. 먹이생물로서 Chlorophyll a 농도, 입자태 유기탄소 및 유기질소의 시·공간적 분포 특성 (A Charecteristics of Marine Environments in a Blood Cockle Farm of the Northwestern Yeoja Bay, Korea. 1. Spatio-temporal Distributions of Chlorophyll a Concentration, Particulate Organic Carbon & Nitrogen)

  • 여자만 북서해역에 위치하는 꼬막 양식어장의 해양환경 중 먹이생물 특성을 파악하기 위해 2017년 5월에서 11월까지 계절별로 7개 정점의 표층과 저층을 대상으로 조사를 실시하여, 먹이생물 항목인 Chlorophyll a (Chl-a), 입자태 유기탄소(POC), 입자태 유기질소(PON) 및 POC/PON ratio, POC/Chl-a ratio 등을 분석 및 산출하였다. 결과 Chl-a 농도, POC 및 PON은 각각 $1.69-7.68{\mu}g{\cdot}L^{-1}$(표층 평균 $3.48{\mu}g{\cdot}L^{-1}$), 0.88-2.58 mM(평균 1.97 mM) 및 0.17-0.90 mM(평균 0.54 mM)을 나타내어, 봄과 여름에 높고 가을에 낮은 농도를 보였다. 우점 출현하여, 기존 결과와는 다른 결과를 나타내었다. 수층별로는 Chl-a와 POC는 저층이 표층보다 높았고, PON은 표층이 저층보다 높았다. POC/PON ratio 및 POC/Chl-a ratio는 각각 1.56-7.88 (표층 평균 3.71) 및 216-967 (표층 평균 700)를 나타내어, 탄소원 대부분은 표층퇴적물에 침강 축적된 입자태 유기물로서 식물플랑크톤에 의한 기여부분이 낮은 것으로 평가되었다. 이러한 결과는 여자막 북서해역의 꼬막양식장의 먹이자원은 양적으로는 풍부한 것처럼 보이지만, 질적으로는 매우 불량한 것으로 평가되었다.

하계 강우기 전.후 신구저수지 내 입자성유기물의 수직분포 및 기원 연구 - 탄소 및 질소 안정동위원소비의 활용 - (A Study on Vertical Distribution and Origin of Particulate Organic Matter in Shingu Reservoir in Pre-monsoon and Post-monsoon Period - Application of Carbon and Nitrogen Stable Isotope Ratio -)

  • 본 연구는 부영양상태의 신구저수지에서 강우기 전 후의 수질 변화와 강우기 유입수의 영향을 평가하기 위해 이루어졌다. 강우기 전에는 수심에 따른 수온차가 $1^{\circ}C$이하였지만 강우기 후에는 $4^{\circ}C$차 이상까지 벌어져 수온 약층이 뚜렷하게 형성되었다. 탁도는 강우기 전보다 강우기 후에 표층에서 12NTU, 저층 120NTU로 크게 증가하였다. POC의 농도는 강우기 전의 조사에서 수심에 따라서 $4.96{\sim}6.68mg\;L^{-1}$의 범위를 나타내고 강우기 후의 조사에서는 $1.73{\sim}5.32mg\;L^{-1}$의 범위를 나타내고 있어 전체적으로 강우기 전보다 강우기 후의 POC의 농도가 낮았으나 수심에 따라서 크게 증가하는 경향을 보이고 있다. 또한, DOC의 농도는 강우기 전의 조사에서 $3.82{\sim}3.96mg\;L^{-1}$의 범위를 나타내고 있고, 강우기 후의 조사에서 $2.18{\sim}2.57mg\;L^{-1}$의 범위를 나타내고 있어 전체적으로 강우기 전보다 강우기 후의 DOC농도는 감소하고 있다. 또한 강우기 후 저층의 높은 탁도층에서 강우기 전보다 입자성유기물의 C/N비가 크게 증가하였고 입자성 유기물의 ${\delta}^{13}C$${\delta}^{15}C$값이 뚜렷하게 가벼운 값을 보이는 것으로 볼 때 저수지 주변 유역에서 유입된 유기물의 영향을 크게 받았다는 것을 알 수 있다. 본 연구 결과로 볼 때 농업용 저수지인 신구저수지는 하계 강우기시 유입하천을 통해 외부로부터 유입된 육상식물 유기물이 저층에 부유된 상태로 존재하며 이는 저수지 내 저층 수생태계의 에너지 흐름에 영향을 줄 수 있는 것으로 사료된다.

CVD Graphene Synthesis on Copper Foils and Doping Effect by Nitric Acid

  • Graphene was obtained on Cu foil by thermal decomposition method. A gas mixture of $H_2$ and $CH_4$ and an ambient annealing temperature of $1,000^{\circ}C$ were used during the deposition for 30 Min., and for the transfer onto $SiO_2/Si$ and Si substrates. The physical properties of graphene were investigated with regard to the effect ofnitrogen atom doping and the various substrates used. The G/2D ratio decreased when the graphene became monolayer graphene. The graphene grown on $SiO_2/Si$ substrate showed a low intensity of the G/2D ratio, because the polarity of the $SiO_2$ layer improved the quality of graphene. The intensity of the G/2D ratio of graphene doped with nitrogen atoms increased with the doping time. The quality of graphene depended on the concentration of the nitrogen doping and chemical properties of substrates. High-quality monolayer graphene was obtained with a low G/2D ratio. The increase in the intensity of the G/2D ratios corresponded to a blue shift in the 2D peaks.

공연비 변화가 바이오에탄올 연료 스파크 점화기관의 연소 및 배출물 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Air-fuel Ratio on Combustion and Emission Characteristics in a Spark Ignition Engine Fueled with Bio-ethanol)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of air-fuel ratio on the combustion and emissions characteristics of spark ignition (SI) gasoline engine fueled with bio-ethanol. A 1.6L SI engine with 4 cylinders was tested on EC dynamometer. In addition, lambda sensor and lambda meter were connected with universal ECU to control the lambda value which is varied from 0.7 to 1.3. The engine performance and combustion characteristics of bio-ethanol fuel were compared to those obtained by pure gasoline. Furthermore, the exhaust emissions such as carbon monoxide (CO), unburned hydrocarbon (HC), oxides of nitrogen ($NO_X$) and carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) were measured by emission analyzers. The results showed that the brake torque and cylinder pressure of bio-ethanol fuel were slightly higher than those of gasoline fuel. Brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) of bio-ethanol was increased while brake specific energy consumption (BSEC) was decreased. The exhaust emissions of bio-ethanol fuel were lower than those of gasoline fuel under overall experimental conditions. However, the specific emission characteristics of the engine with bio-ethanol fuel were influenced by air-fuel ratio.

질소제거를 위한 연속회분식 반응조의 운전방식 연구 (Operation Mode in Sequencing Batch Reactor for Nitrogen Removal)

  • 본 연구는 SBR system에서 COD/N 변화에 따른 질소제거와 탈질화에 대한 탄소원으로서 폐수 내의 유기물의 이용을 조사하였다. 실험은 실험실에서 반응조 4개를 운전방식을 세가지로 변화시켜 행하였다. 세가지 운전방식의 차이로는 Mode I은 유입기간 동안 폭기하고 Mode II는 폭기를 중단한 상태에서 유입하였으며, Mode III는 폭기를 중단한 상태에서 1 cycle 동안 두 번 유입을 하였다. COD/N비가 증가되었을 때 총 질소 제거율은 Mode I에서 8.7에서 57.7%까지 증가되었고, Mode II에서는 28.9에서 83.2%까지, Mode III에서는 42.7에서 97.8%까지 증가되었다. COD 제거율은 전 실험기간 동안에 93에서 98%까지로 비교적 높았다. 1 cycle 동안 폭기를 하지 않은 상태에서 두 번의 유입을 하는 Mode III로 운전하는 것이 질소제거에서 가장 효과적인 방법으로 판명되었으며, 유출수에 포함된 질소농도는 유입수의 COD와 질소농도를 사용하여 추정할 수 있었다.

The Biodegradation Characteristics of the Mixtures of Bunker-A, B Oils with Dispersants in the Seawater

  • The biodegradation experiment, the TOD analysis and the element analysis for dispersant, Bunker-A oil and Bunker-B oil were conducted to study the biodegradation characteristics of a mixture of Bunker-A oil with dispersant and a mixture of Bunker-B oil with dispersant in the seawater. The results of biodegradation experiment showed 1mg of dispersant to be equivalent to 0.26 mg of $BOD_5$ and to 0.60 mg of $BOD_{20}$ in the natural seawater. The results of TOD analysis showed each 1 mg of dispersant, Bunker-A oil and Bunker-B oil to be equivalent to 2.37 mg, 2.94 mg and 2.74 mg of TOD, respectively. The results of element analysis showed carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and phosphorus contents of dispersant to be $82.1\%,\;13.8\%,\;1.8\%\;and\;2.2\%$, respectively. Carbon and hydrogen contents of Bunker-A oil were found to be $73.3\%\;and\;13.5\%$, respectively, and carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen contents of Bunker-B oil to be $80.4\%,\;12.3\%\;and\;0.7\%$, respectively. Accordingly, the detection of nitrogen and phosphorus in dispersant shows that dispersants should be used with caution in coastal waters, with relation to eutrophication. The biodegradability of dispersant expressed as the ratio of $BOD_5/TOD$ was found to be $11.0\%$. As the mix ratios of dispersant to Bunker-A oil (3 mg/l) and a mixture of Bunker-B oil (3mg/l) were changed from 1 : 10 to 5 : 10, the biodegradabilities of a mixture of Bunker-A oil with dispersant and Bunker-B oil with dispersant increased from $2.1\%\;to\;7.2\%$ and from $1.0\%\;to\;4.4\%$, respectively. Accordingly, the dispersant belongs to the organic matter group of middle-biodegradability while mixtures in the mix ratio range of $1:10\~5:10$ belong to the organic matter group of low-biodegradability. The deoxygenation rate constant $(K_1)$ and ultimate biochemical oxygen demand $(L_0)$ obtained from the biodegradation experiment and Thomas slope method were found to be 0.125/day and 2.487 mg/l for dispersant (4 mg/l), respectively. $K_1\;and\;L_0$, were found to be $0.079\~0.131/day$ and $0.318\~2.052\;mg/l$ for a mixture of Bunker-A oil with dispersant and to be $0.106\~0.371/day$ and $0.262\~1.106\;mg/l$ for a mixture of Bunker-B oil with dispersant, respectively, having $1:10\~5:10$ mix ratios of dispersant to Bunker-A oil and Bunker-B oil. The ultimate biochemical oxygen demands of the mixtures increased as the mix ratio of dispersant to Bunker-A, B oils changed from 1 : 10 to 5 : 10. This suggests that the more dispersants are applied to the sea for the cleanup of Bunker-A oil or Bunker-B oil, the more decreases the dissolved oxygen level in the seawater.

다양한 배양조건에 따른 Rhodobacter sphaeroides KD131의 광발효 수소생산 (Photo-Fermentative Hydrogen Production by Rhodobacter Sphaeroides KD131 under Various Culture Conditions)

  • Purple non-sulfur (PNS) bacterium $Rhodobacter$ $sphaeroides$ KD131 was studied with the aim of achieving maximum hydrogen production using various carbon and nitrogen sources at different pH conditions. Cells grew well and produced hydrogen using $(NH_4){_2}SO_4$ or glutamate as a nitrogen source in combination with a carbon substrate, succinate or malate. During 48h of photo-heterotrophic fermentation under 110$W/m^2$ illumination using a halogen lamp at $30^{\circ}C$, 67% of 30mM succinate added was degraded and the hydrogen yield was estimated as 3.29mol $H^2$/mol-succinate. However, less than 30% of formate was consumed and hydrogen was not produced due to a lack of genes coding for the formate-hydrogen lyase complex of strain KD131. Initial cell concentrations of more than 0.6g dry cell weight/L-culture broth were not favorable for hydrogen evolution by cell aggregation, thus leading to substrate and light unavailability. In a modified Sistrom's medium containing 30mM succinate with a carbon to nitrogen ratio of 12.85 (w/w), glutamate produced 1.40-fold more hydrogen compared to ammonium sulfate during the first 48h. However, ammonium sulfate was 1.78-fold more effective for extended cultivation of 96h. An initial pH range from 6.0 to 9.0 influenced cell growth and hydrogen production, and maintenance of pH 7.5 during photofermentation led to the increased hydrogen yield.

김천규석으로부터 질화규소의 합성 (Synthesis of Silicon Nitride from Kimcheon Quartzite)

  • Silicon nitride powders were prepared by the simultaneous reduction and nitridation from powder mixtures of Kim cheon quartzite and carbon (graphite or carbon black) at1400$^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours in nitrogen atmosphere. The effects of the reaction variables on the yield of products and on the ${\alpha}$/${\beta}$ ratio were examined. The average particle size, density, and the ${\alpha}$/${\beta}$ ratio of the obtained si3N4 were 1.0$\mu\textrm{m}$, 3.10g/㎤ and 90/10, respectively. It was found that the Si3N4 powders obtained in this work were comparable to the foreign commercial products.
