  • The effects of processing aids(P.A.) in semicoductive compounds(S.C.) with highly loaded carbon black for extra high voltage cables were investigated. The processability of S.C. is improved as the contents of P.A. increased, however, the electrical, mechanical properties and smoothness of S.C. grew worse, especially for the S.C. which contains 5wt% of P.A., the volume resistivity after heat cycle which shows long term reliability increased about three times after 15cycles compared to the S.C. which contains no P.A. We inferred that it is caused by the action of P.A. as the insulating sites, thermal expansion of polymer matrix which leads the length between carbon blacks to shorten, and the decrease of degree of crosslinking. The change of ion contents which means cleanliness of S.C. is not occured regardless of the addition of P.A.

  • The behavior of de levels in rapid thermal annealed Fe-doped semi-insulating InP(100) was studied by photoinduced current transient spectrocopy(PICTS). In bulk InP, T2(Ec-0.24 eV), T3(Ec-0.30 eV) and T5(Ec-0.62 eV) traps were observed. After annealing the T2 trap was annihilated at 20$0^{\circ}C$ and recreated at 35$0^{\circ}C$. T3 trap was not affected below 40$0^{\circ}C$. With increasing temperature the concentration of T5 trap reduced and it was annihilated at 30$0^{\circ}C$. However the T1(Ec-0.16 eV) and T4(Ec-0.42 eV) traps were began to appear at 40$0^{\circ}C$and these concentrations were increased with annealing temperature. The T1 and T4 traps seem to be related to the isolated phosphorus vacancy( $V_{p}$) and $V_{p}$-indium antisite( $V_{p}$- $P_{in}$ ) or $V_{p}$-indium interstitial( $V_{p}$-I $n_{I}$) respectiely.respectiely.

  • Decay rate and nutrient dynamics during leaf litter decomposition of deciduous broad leaf Quercus mongolica and evergreen needle leaf Pinus densiflora were investigated for 69 months from December 2005 to September 2011 in Mt. Worak National Park as a part of National Long-Term Ecological Research Program in Korea. Percent remaining weight of Q. mongolica and P. densiflora leaf litter after 69 months elapsed was $35.4{\pm}2.3%$ and $16.1{\pm}1.3%$, respectively. Decomposition of P. densiflora leaf litter was significantly faster than that of Q. mongolica leaf litter. Decay constant (k) of Q. mongolica and P. densiflora leaf litter after 69 months elapsed was 5.97 and 10.50, respectively. Initial C/N and C/P ratio of Q. mongolica leaf litter was 43.1 and 543.9 respectively. After 69 months elapsed, C/N and C/P ratio of decomposing Q. mongolica leaf litter decreased to 8.7 and 141.2, respectively. Initial C/N and C/P ratio of P. densiflora leaf litter was 151.2 and 391.4, respectively. After 69 months elapsed, C/N and C/P ratio of decomposing P. densiflora leaf litter decreased to 22.9. and 136.5. respectively. • It is sometimes said lately that the pH of the human gastric juice is significantly different among individuals. Thus, the dissolution behavior of coated solid dosage forms should preferably be independent of the pH of the test solution. With these points as a background, the effect of pH on the dissolution velocity of coated tablets was studied to compare that of Pharmacoat with other gastric soluble film coating materials. Three viscosity types of Pharmacoat have been available(3, 6 and 15cP) until now. the 6cP type has been considered to be the most suitable for a tablet coating amongst the three types. The 3 cP type with a low degree of polymerization, is capable of providing high concentration, but the film strength is so inferior that sometimes cracking of the film may occur. On the other hand, in the case of the 15cP type, high polymer concentration cannot be achieved because of the high dgree of polymerization, and thus it is uneconomical for coating. Now, there is a strong demand to reduce the coating time even when HPMC is used in the 6cP type in order to reduce the coating cost. In order to improve this problem, we have concentrated our attention on reducing the viscosity value of HPMC to an allowable lower limit from 6cP. As a result of this study, it was found that the reduction of the viscosity value to around 4.5cP enabled the use of a higher solution concentration and an incidental shorter coating time without giving any substantial adverse effects on the properties of coated preparations. These experiment results are presented in the later part of this presentation. Based on this study, we have added the viscosity type of 4.5cP as one of the Pharmacoat products as Pharmacoat-645.

  • One-hundred and twenty Ischia grey rabbits, traditionally raised in pits, were equally divided after weaning (32 days) into three groups: group C, housed in cages (4 rabbits/cage) and fed a commercial concentrate; group GF, housed as C group and fed grasses collected on the island and crushed faba beans supplemented with an appropriate mineral vitamin mix; group P, housed in pits (8 rabbits/pit) and fed as GF group. Feed intake was recorded daily and live weight monthly up to slaughter (92 days). At slaughter, 10 rabbits per group were used to measure carcass and meat traits. The carcasses were weighed and measured according to the standard procedures and meat samples from the Longissimus dorsi and left hind leg were analysed for water holding capacity and chemical composition, respectively. During the entire trial, group C consumed significantly (p<0.01) a higher quantity of feed than the other groups (126.1 vs. 63.4 and 66.5 g/d, resp. for groups C, GF and P) and at slaughter showed a significantly (p<0.01) higher body weight (2,529.7 vs. 1,324.4 and 1,375.4 g, resp. for groups C, GF and P). Significant differences (p<0.01) were found also for dressing out percentage (68.6 vs. 66.6 and 66.9%, resp. for groups C, GF and P) and for meat chemical composition, in particular lipid percentage (4.13 vs. 1.84 and 1.93%, resp., for groups C, GF and P, p<0.01) and moisture (73.7 vs. 76.4 and 76.3%, resp. for groups C, GF and P, p<0.01). The results suggest the opportunity to obtain heavier animals raised in the pits if their diets were integrated with commercial feed.

  • This study examined the α-glucosidase inhibitory, and apoptosis- and anti-muscular-related factors of goat meat extracts from forelegs, hind legs, loin, and ribs. The goat meat extracts were evaluated for their α-glucosidase inhibitory activity. The gene and protein expression levels of Bcl-2-associated X (bax), p53, and p21 were examined by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and immunoblotting in AGS and HT-29 cells. The expression levels of Atrogin-1 and MHC1b were examined by RT-PCR in C2C12 myoblasts, and the expression levels of Atrogin-1, muscle atrophy F-box (MAFbx), muscle RING-finger protein-1 (MuRF-1), and myosin heavy chain-7 were investigated by immunoblotting. α-Glucosidase inhibitory activity was higher in ethanol extract than in hydrous and hot water extracts. BAX and p53 expression levels were higher (p<0.05) in AGS cells treated with goat meat extract than those of cells treated with no goat meat extract. In HT-29 cells, the protein expression levels of BAX, p53, and p21 were higher (p<0.05) in the cells treated with goat meat extract than those of cells not treated with goat meat extract. In dexamethasone-treated C2C12 cells, goat meat extract treatment lower (p<0.05) the expression of Atrogin-1 and lower (p<0.05) the expression of MAFbx and MuRF-1. The results of the present study indicate that goat meat extracts have α-glucosidase inhibitory activity in vitro. In addition, apoptosis was induced in AGS cells and HT-29 cells treated with goat meat extract, and anti-muscular atrophy activity was also observed in C2C12 cells treated with goat meat extract.

Impact of Remanent Polarization and Coercive Field on Threshold Voltage and Drain-Induced Barrier Lowering in NCFET (negative capacitance FET) (NCFET (negative capacitance FET)에서 잔류분극과 항전계가 문턱전압과 드레인 유도장벽 감소에 미치는 영향)

  • The changes in threshold voltage and DIBL were investigated for changes in remanent polarization Pr and coercive field Ec, which determine the characteristics of the P-E hysteresis curve of ferroelectric in NCFET (negative capacitance FET). The threshold voltage and DIBL (drain-induced barrier lowering) were observed for a junctionless double gate MOSFET using a gate oxide structure of MFMIS (metal-ferroelectric-metal-insulator-semiconductor). To obtain the threshold voltage, series-type potential distribution and second derivative method were used. As a result, it can be seen that the threshold voltage increases when Pr decreases and Ec increases, and the threshold voltage is also maintained constant when the Pr/Ec is constant. However, as the drain voltage increases, the threshold voltage changes significantly according to Pr/Ec, so the DIBL greatly changes for Pr/Ec. In other words, when Pr/Ec=15 pF/cm, DIBL showed a negative value regardless of the channel length under the conditions of ferroelectric thickness of 10 nm and SiO2 thickness of 1 nm. The DIBL value was in the negative or positive range for the channel length when the Pr/Ec is 25 pF/cm or more under the same conditions, so the condition of DIBL=0 could be obtained. As such, the optimal condition to reduce short channel effects can be obtained since the threshold voltage and DIBL can be adjusted according to the device dimension of NCFET and the Pr and Ec of ferroelectric.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of dietary Morus alba L.(Bong-ip, B), Glycyrrhizae glabra(Gam-chei, C), Pinus densiflora(Sol-lp, S) and Angelica gigas(Dang-gi, D)powder on serum composition in rats(Sprague-Dawley male rats, 100-110g). Serum TG(triglyceride, p<0.01), total cholesterol, glucose, total protein, albumin, GGT$({\gamma}-glutamyl$ transferase, p<0.05) were significantly increased D group than that of nomal and other groups, but UA(uric acid, p<0.05) was significantly decreased, and C group(p<0.05) was significantly increased. but C group of urine(p<0.05) was significantly decreased. Also, B and S groups(p<0.05) of BUN(blood urea nitrogen), S group(p<0.05) of ALP(alkaline phosphokinase, Band C(p<0.05) of CPK(creatinine phosphokinsae, p<0.05) were significantly increased. B, S and C groups were better than D group for lipid metabolism, and pretection to liver. Also, B and C groups of glucose were same as normal diet, so Morus alba L. was good food for lipid metabolism and hypoglycemic effect.
