Development of Optimal Number of Bus-stops Estimation Model Based on On-Off Patterns of Passengers (버스승객의 승하차 패턴을 고려한 최적 정류장 수 산정 모형 개발)

  • At present, Korean many cities depend on subjective judgements of experts to estimate the number of bus-stops and inter-stop space. To get reliable results by using more objective procedure, we search for old studies and models, but they don't concern alighting demands and a random demand distributions. Our study recognize and overcome these limitation. We devide the demand into boarding and alighting demands, and define the model that can estimate flexibly optimal number of bus-stop and inter-stop space on each segment by the demand distribution. Also we apply this new model to a simple example route having various demand distributions As a result, the number of bus-stop on each segment can be estimate flexibly in proportion to boarding or alighting demand by using this model.

The Decision of Order Priority of HUD Contents for Public Transit (대중교통 HUD 콘텐츠 우선순위 결정에 관한 연구)

  • PURPOSES: In this study, as part of an effort to develop HUD for public transit, it is proposed that the decision of order priority of contents which will be disposed to bus drivers through HUD for public transit using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) technique. METHODS: In AHP analysis method brainstorming, factor analysis, hierarchical structuring, and weighting analysis were performed by applying a classical analysis method. RESULTS: By the result of analysis it is shown that unlike car drivers, bus drivers prefer information related to bus intervals, bus stop, and door open and close to information related to vehicle running. Also, bus stop information and bus interval information were ranked as first and second place in order priority of HUD contents for public transit by experts. CONCLUSIONS: This method of selecting order priority of HUD contents for public transit can provide a basic foundation for selecting order priority of traffic information contents as well as other HUD contents.

  • The median exclusive bus lanes with the purpose of improving public transport as part of a public transport promoting policy propel to improves the speed of the bus and guarantee punctuality security of public transportation for citizen satisfaction. In Median Exclusive bus lanes, Intersection operational methods are classified as turn prohibition, left turn, left turn U-Turn after turn prohibition. However, there are not clear criteria for applying for turn left U-Turn and related researches. The purpose of this study is to search a method for more safely operation when we operate turn left U-Turn in median exclusive bus lanes intersection. As a result, Bus stop in median exclusive bus lane should set back 12m for left turn, 17m for left turn U-turn during 60km/h and set back 13m for left turn, 17m for left turn U-turn during 50km/h.

  • The purpose of this paper is to provide a convenient platform for bus users and a platform to provide tourist services suitable for bus tourism as integrated services. Recently, the number of FIT tourists for recreational purposes using public transportation is increasing as the bus use environment is improved. Accordingly, we need a tourist platform that meets the needs of tourists. In particular, a bus information providing algorithm is implemented using a bus information public API to more conveniently use the bus information providing system, and a user use behavior data collection module and a data mining module To develop a contents platform based on a bus stop for bus tourism services to FIT tourists using public transportation.

  • Modern society is steadily implementing policies to encourage public transportation to cope with the growing traffic demand on limited roads. The expectation is rising for transit signal priority to ensure the speed of buses as the installation of the bus rapid transit(BRT) expands nationwide to secure the competitiveness of buses. On the other hand, the form of BRT stops without considering some aspects of bus operation may increase the number of stops on the bus, thereby reducing the effectiveness of bus signal priority applications. This study suggests the type of bus stop to increase the operation efficiency of buses by analyzing the bus signal priority effect according to the BRT station type using Hannuri-daero, Sejong. The bus signal priority is used to maximize the two-way bandwidth of passenger cars and buses. As a result of the application, the effectiveness of the bus signal priority at the stop causing the double stop of the bus was reduced drastically, and the efficiency of the bus signal priority was increased significantly after improvement. These results are expected to be used as basic data in the form of proper bus stops considering the aspects of traffic operation when designing BRT stops in new towns in the future.

Mitigation of Insufficient Capacity Problems of Central Bus Stops by Controlling Effective Green Time (유효녹색시간 조정을 활용한 중앙버스정류장 용량 부족 완화 방안 연구)

  • After the introduction of the central bus lane system, bus traffic was prioritized. This resulted in improved trust from bus users. However, the low capacity at the central bus stop reduces traffic speed and punctuality. In addition, physical constraints are inevitable because the construction of central bus lanes and bus stops considers the city's road geometry. Therefore, this study attempted to optimize the effective green time of the traffic signal system at the entrance and exit of the central bus stop to remedy its insufficient operational capacity. The Transit Capacity and Quality of Service Manual and Korea Highway Capacity Manual were used as the analysis methodologies. The number of stop areas for central bus stops to be built was determined by excluding variable physical factors, and field survey data collected from nine randomly selected central bus stops currently installed in Seoul were used. A scenario analysis was conducted on the central bus stops with insufficient capacity by adjusting the effective green time, and the capacity of the central bus stop was set as the dependent variable. According to the results, 26.7 percent of the central bus stops with insufficient capacity can solve the problem of insufficient capacity. Therefore, the results of this study can be verified by improving the operation level, and it can be effective even if the number of central bus stops calculated by engineering is not guaranteed during the planning stage of the central bus stop. As the number of central bus stops is expected to increase further as the number of central bus stops increases, it is necessary to improve the number of central bus stops. Therefore, it is hoped that the results presented in this study will be used as basic data for the improvement plan at the operational level before introducing the physical improvement plan.

  • In this paper, a smart bus system that automates public bus traffic payment by applying beacon and computer vision and provides bus route information, real-time location information, getting off alarm is proposed. By using the beacon to recognize busses near the stop and to board the bus to be boarded, this system automatically processes the payment when boarding by using the distance from the beacon and the information provided by the beacon and the face comparison. After the payment processing, the system provides the route information of the boarded bus and the real-time bus location information to the user, and when the user sets an alarm using these informations, the alarm is activated when the bus leaves the bus stop.

  • The aim of this study is to propose guidelines for bus-stop information design that is more congested with the advent of U-Shelter, via case studies and focus group interviews. First, the literature research explored the concept of information design and correlation of information design and route map. Second, raising problems and consider improvement plans through case study in korea, overseas. Finally, current information design was evaluated and user's requests were derived through focus group interview. The current information design had problems with lack of priority, information overlaying, and hard recognition. Priority shall be selected by bus route, direction of bus, arrival time, interval, and operating time, and information overlay can be reduced into one. Also visualize the connection and direction between the lines using schematic and two-dimensional lines and shapes for recognition. Through this study, it will be used as a reference material to help improve and develop the bus-stop information design.

  • In this paper, we design and implement a bus information notification application based on the GPS sensor of a smartphone. This application provides the ability to check bus stops within a radius of 200m based on the current user's location using the smartphone's GPS sensor, Google Map, and open API. In addition, if you click the marker of the desired stop, you can see the name of the stop, and click the view arrival information button to check the detailed bus arrival information of the stop. In addition, it provides a function to check the location information of pharmacies, nonghyups, and post offices that sell public masks, the names of public mask stores, and mask inventory through the public mask store button. Each icon was used differently to make visual differences in order to easily indicate the difference between the times of public mask sales and bus stops. In addition, if you want to know the information of other bus stops and the route of the desired bus, not around the user's location, click the bus stop search button. Finally, after storing the destination stop or location, it implements a function that provides an alarm when it approaches the location.

  • This study was attempted to improve the utilization of kiosk DID and to establish the production direction of the kiosk DID to be developed in the future, through analysis of kiosk DID user satisfaction at bus stop. This study showed that the satisfaction of the usability of the bus stop kiosk DID was high but in order to enhance the active use of kiosk DID and user satisfaction, unique and interesting content needs to be added and switched, not just simple information but content that users will immerse.
